Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Well yeah, the idea is that it's supposed to be a BAD GUY clone. I don't see what you're getting at here calling this a FAD either, since it's been the idea since Scourge/Black Convoy. While I realize the black repaint of G1 prime exists, I hardly find it iconic. But to each their own I guess.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:I'd still take a Universe 2008 Nemesis Prime, as he's a proper clone. The fad in Japan now seems to be making black Primes "Darksides", or the dark side of Optimus' character.

I believe we've just been trolled by Has/Tak.

Whoever said anything about the molds being lost forever? You'll get the First Edition toys ... they just won't be in First Edition packaging when those molds come out at retail, kind of like how the First Edition Cliffjumper mold is being used for both Zombie versions, and the FE version of Megatron and the Starscream mold (as Skywarp) was used in the Arms Micron line. I'm sure they'll show up in some form or another in the Transformers Prime toy line at some point.

No, he means the Classics Voyager Prime mold, which was supposed to be lost forever due to mold degradation.
It was quite a while back. I'll never be able to find the news post where it was mentioned. But I remember this to be the case. That's why we ended up with this.Seibertron wrote:I misread that.
Comment still remains though ... whoever said anything about the Classics Prime mold having mold degradation? Wasn't it only used 6 times? (Classics, Ultra Magnus, SDCC, BotCon, Henkei, and transparent).

Same goes for this just being an old cancelled Scourge/Black Convoy repaint, there's no record of it on TFwiki but it definitely happened. I believe it was Wonderfest Black Convoy.

The mold started showing its age around SDCC Nemesis Prime and BotCon 2008, I read about alignment problems here and there with those two toys.

The Alternators Subaru Impreza mold in its various incarnations started to show major signs of deterioration with Binaltech Asterisk Alert.
The Generation 1 Combaticons.
The Generation 1 Seacons are considered by many to have been beyond this point already when the Transformers Collectors' Club released the Timelines versions.
The Generation 2 Cyberjets.
Legends of Cybertron Optimus Prime.
Classics Voyager Optimus Prime.
Classics Starscream.
Movie Deluxe Class Concept Camaro Bumblebee.
Not just theory in my mind. As I said, whether or not that was the reason the deluxe mold was released I could SWEAR a Hasbro rep stated the mold had suffered too much degradation to be used again, though I could easily be wrong, my memory fools me some times.Seibertron wrote:Sounds like theories, not facts. I had assumed that the "deluxe" version of Optimus Prime was used because it hadn't come out in Japan so Takara Tomy decided to use it in the "Sons of Cybertron" set and in the United line. They later released the deluxe Megatron in the United line as well so it seems only natural that the deluxe Optimus Prime was released for the same reasons that they decided to use the deluxe Megatron mold.

Vicalliose wrote:But, yes the mold was showing a good amount of age, whether officially stated or not it's not hard to come to this conclusion. Heck my Ultra Magnus is close to having his windows fall off.
