Ultra Magnus also had "hidden modes" left over from his Diaclone days. Omega being number one is awesome. I can't wait for the Siege figure. It looks like it will be amazing and dare I hope for some enterprising company to bring an automated tank for him like the original has?

Hidden modes? Really? Do you have any more info on these?

There's this repair bay mode, and an alternate base mode where his forearms are down on the ground while his large head and chestplate are on top

Also a "Seeker launch ramp" or catapult and his chest plate and head forming a vehicle.

The wiki talks a little about it:

There was a really cool article that detailed all the modes for powered Convoy/ Ultra Magnus with pictures and everything but I can't for the life find it right now

Can't speak for the g1 stuff, but I feel the weaponizers - especially sixgun - are solidly above Rodimus. Despite their smaller size and lower price, they have phenomenal articulation and REALLY great play value. Granted, they have less presence on displays, but...
Each piece of a weaponizer can easily become something else, while Rodimus's arms (as seen in the article itself) just sit there. Putting a head in a matrix is one thing, but the cross-compatibility of weaponizers lets you make stuff like this with one additional piece.

Good list.

I like the Weaponizers a lot. Can't wait to find Brunt eventually. It's nice that they found an innovative way to make those accessories into something unique and cool in the TF line.

I didn't mention trhe Seeker catapult because Takara showed it off with Silverbolt, so I wasn't counting it as "hidden". I do have some photos of it though:

Since you used g1 seekers as a whole category, I would have done the same with Cog's entry and used the whole Siege Weaponizers shebang, just to be fair.

No argument from me on #1, exactly what the title had me thinking of. Can't wait for the new Siege version!

That wouldnt be fair, since the seekers are all the same general mold (and more importantly the same partsforming transformation) while all the siege weaponizers are unique. But I could have done it to be more inclusive. This list was written pretty early on before all weaponizers were available so I only had Cog as an example. But the list is done now and the comments mention the others enough, so its all good.

I really liked this list. Nothing wrong with a good partsformer. Powermaster Optimus Prime / God Ginrai remains one of my all-time favorite Transformers. I'll never forget the first time I saw God Ginrai in package way back around 1995 at Motor City Comic-Con for the first time. I just remember thinking "Wow they made Powermaster Optimus Prime with wings in Japan! That is amazing!"

Love this list! I've always been a fan of partsforming in general I was never a stickler for an all inclusive bot. Starscream and Optimus were two of my first figures so partsforming to me was part of the original process.

Well thought out and really well written Will great stuff. Always fun going back through the oldies ;)^

If you like oldies, did you ever check this list? Easily the one I spent the most time on, but I think it paid off.

I feel like a sort of third-degree honorable-honorable-mention should go to Armada Tidal Wave and Overload on the grounds that they are "parts-formers that don't actually need to come apart".

Overload (not counting the headmaster gimmick) could actually transform into all of his modes without the need to physically remove his lower legs/gun barrels from the figure. When you put the covers over his fists, and put his arms down by his sides, the lower legs slide right off the upper legs, and directly onto the fist covers without ever being fully detached in-between. I thought it was really clever design.

And Tidal Wave, while needing to come apart to combine onto Megatron, or to come apart into the three separate ships, never actually needs to remove anything to go between his two main modes, the large single ship, and robot mode. And that's even considering that the front ship splits in half to become his arms. Since the connection between the front and middle ships winds up becoming his shoulder joints, it doesn't need to detach from the figure as a whole when it splits.

I got both figures on the same day back when I was younger. I had seen pictures of them from the pack-in comic/catalogs of other figures and completely expected them to come into pieces to transform. I was totally taken by surprise when I got them out of their boxes and found out they both totally avoided parts-forming despite being made of separable parts.

Ok, so I now have all the partsformer deluxes in the Siege line and I will say that if I pick one for this list it would still be COG.
Not a fan of sixgun, and while I do like Brunt a lot (and he has a way better alt mode than Cog), I will say that there is this added bonus with Cog of being a far closer homage to his G1 toy. It's just really amazing to see the evolution of that design and all it's functionality. Plus I feel he has the best robot mode of the 3. But of course, it's all subjective.
