A Couple of "A-ha!'s" I realized the last couple of days

Postby brbolin » Fri Aug 03, 2007 9:30 am

I know a lot of people have been complaining of the extreme close-ups and very jarring/shaky camera work during the fight scenes of "Transformers".
I, myself, kind of enjoy it, because it feels like you're right there amongst the action. Anyway, one of the "a-ha's" I came across was while watching the Bourne movies.
They, TOO, incorporate a LOT of fast cuts, and really shaky camera work during the fight scenes and I don't remember hearing nearly as much griping about that as I have "Transformers". It may be because I'm not a member of a "Bourne" web page, but still.
My 2nd "a-ha" came last night. I was watching one of my favorite movies for the umpteenth time and saw someone I didn't expect to see. It was "Mystery Men", and one of the gangs was the "Frat Boy" gang. Well, there's one that sort of talks, and I was like, "was that?!?...no...it couldn't have been."
Well, during the credits I paused it and sure-enough...it was Michael Bay!
Also, Dane Cook makes a hilarious cameo in it as "Waffle-Man" during their recruitment scene.
I really enjoy watching these "older" movies to see the people that have just a "cameo" then, but are now fairly big time!
Anyway, just wanted to share a couple of things that I just stumbled across. Enjoy!

I find that the jerky camera movements are becoming the norm in most action films. Way of getting around you focussing on some of the finer details maybe.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

The shaky camera thingy is to make it feel like you're actually there.
Life can be pretty sweet when your alt-mode is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.

And for those of you who are wondering... I'M A GIRL!

I'm not prejudiced; I hate everyone equally.

You know, I never noticed this "shaky-camera" phenomenon people keep going on and on about. I just watched the movie, enjoyed it, and then came on the internet and found tons of people whining about "shaky-camera filming techniques" and what not.
