It hasn't even been a day since Michael Bay revealed to us that John Malkovich and Frances McDormand would be making their way into Transformers 3, and we already have our first news bit about them. Thanks to the folks at Deadline.com, we find out their roles in the movie. The highly decorated actors will play major roles in the movie, as McDormand is cast to be the National Intelligence Director and Malkovich as Sam's first boss. Very interesting...So are they trying to make up for the mediocre acting by adding established actors/actresss? Wish Jon Voight would make a return as well..

I propose that a Space Bridge and the little magic door from Being John Malkovich both work on the very same principle.

In fact, I propose that's how Malkovich wound up in the Transformers universe!

This is more cool news though, John Malkovich is awesome.

Didn't the leaked script with the time travel stuff had a character who was Sam's boss???

sweet jesus no ! trust bay to think being faithfull to the lore would mean introducing nutty scientists wih hypno chips .

that said a film tweaked version of "ultimate doom" would have some great drama in it (im thinking of the scene where megs forces prime to activate the last pylon or doom cybertron) and it would be one hell of a first look at cybertron itself as it coasts into orbit.

we even have ironhide established to say "i never thought id be sorry to see cybertron "

still on the OP, good moves. both are good actors and i second the call for voight to come back.

Cool there's gonna be some class in TF 3. Both these actors are great and with McDormand there's another Coen Bros alumni(Fargo).

Well if you look at the some of G1 cartoons and possibily some of the later incarnations, there is always a non-Transformer collaborator (Archiville, King Nergill, Sam Burger, etc.) that is going to get something in return from Megatron, even though Megatron plans to betray them anyway.

Those are two huge names that I never expected to be attached to something like this.

Malkovich doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would take this role.

Guess I was wrong on that one.

Um, I'm sure the guys no fool, this is a big budget movie, theres money involved, why wouldn't he/they want a piece of it? Oh and add to the fact that Malkovich lost money to Wall Street swindler Bernie Madoffs $50billion Ponzi scheme, then the picture of his involvement becomes clearer...

But you are right, they are peculiar choices for this film, but if the last two films have taught us anything, expect the unexpected from this franchise, good or bad!

Hell yeah! They HAVE to do this! It's oblique and strange and placates fans with the whole 'core mythology' line! I'm excited to see what they do with Dr. Arkaville, I mean the guys a freakin' cyborg! Just think of the CGI opportunities right there!

Well, this is somewhat pleasing. Originally I was expecting John Malkovich to play Soundwave, but great to see him & Frances McDormand on Transformers. I'm hoping with those 2 the film wont earn any Razzies as well as the both of them.

I'm honestly thinking the same thing, much like Bernie Mac's role in the first TF movie. Which I have no problem with because Bernie Mac, unlike Tracy Morgan, was actually funny... May he rest in peace.

But we aren't talking about Tracy Morgan, or Bernie Mac, this is Frances McDormand who starred in Fargo, which is a dark but funny film and John Malkovich who starred in friggin' Con Air, which also starred Nic Cage back when he was a good actor. Anyway, I really hope Bay doesn't have them do anything humiliating in this movie (I.E. John Turturro flashing his jock strapped man-ass in ROTF).

I'm thinking with Sam's boss and the earlier mention of Silverbolt, we are getting that leaked script. I hope so, I rather enjoyed that with the exception that Leo was in it. HATRED doesn't begin to describe how I feel about him.

I'm hoping that both of these actors will give the film a much needed boost as it really needs to make amends for Revenge.

I'd like to see Anthony Anderson return.

You clearly haven't been a Transformers fan for very long. Transformers wouldn't exist without Humans. They've played a major role in every cartoon (minus Beast Era), and that's saying something. I respect your opinion, but c'mon, Humans will break or make this movie. If you only like Robots go play War For Cybertron when it comes out.
