This was a very interesting week at the box office. Due to the new Jennifer Lawrence film, No Hard Feelings, Rise of the Beasts (ROTB) slipped to 5th place on the domestic box office, bringing in 11M. Flash bombed harder than ROTB' terrible numbers from last week, but still beat it with 15M. This lackluster box office made Spider-verse regain the number 1 spot. You cans see the domestic numbers below.
Internationally, everyone got outdone by China with their new film Lost in the Stats which openned with close to 100M in China alone (which is more than ROTB got in its opening week-end in its home turf). Another big winner, internationally, was Elemental which more than doubled what it got last week, and making it the best performing western release in overseas markets this past week-end.
As of right now, it's still not looking good for ROTB, with projections still having it the worst performing live action TF film. However, the global market is showing that it won't be a total bomb either, just shy of breaking even. Which is more than what the Flash can say. Due to an estimated 150M marketing budget, it looks like the Flash would have been more profitable to simply be released on MAX (or VOD) than doing a global theatrical release.
The ROTB numbers are strong enough to suggest that the film would have been far more successful if released in at a less crowded time. Hence why a sequel may still happen.
Domestic Box Office for June 24 week-end
1. Spider-verse 19.3M
2. Elemental 18.4M
3. Flash 15.2M

International Box Office numbers for the same films for June 24 week-end

this all pales in comparison to this week's number 1 global winner, Lost in the Stars, which made 97.1M, just in China, drowning out any momentum Rise of the Beasts (or any other western release) may have had there.
