Transformers: Aftershock

Postby JaAm » Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:53 pm

Ok, this is my first ever fanfic, be kind. It takes place after the 07 movie. It won't be very dark, and I'll put in some comedy. However, I have to give a little content advisory. Most of my comic inspiration comes from movies like Clerks, Monty Python, and Red vs. Blue, so, there may be some moments not suitable for kiddies. But don't expect it to get too worse than the movie. I'll have the prologue up by tomorow, hopefully. I'm open to plot suggestions, so drop me a PM if you have any ideas.

OK, here it is! Don't judge me too harshly!

Prologue

The Xantium

Optimus Prime’s message had not fallen on deaf ears. Onboard the Autobot cruiser Xantium, the captain Ultra Magnus prepared for his ship to leave transwarp. One month ago, he told his team, the elite Wreckers, that they were reassigned to Sol-3, AKA earth. He had worried about how to tell them that they wouldn’t be shooting anything and that they’d have to spend a lot of time undercover. He hit the intercom button. “Wreckers, assemble in protoform modes at the hanger. We are nearing destination.” He then proceeded to return to his quarters, shed his altmode, and go to the hanger.

Chromedome heard the order, and acted on it first. The lion-like miniature beast glumly trotted back to his quarters, which his transtector was dutifully cleaning. He, of all the Wreckers, had the best reason for hating being in protoform-mode. Chromedome was a headmaster. This meant that he was a diminutive transformer who became the head of a mindless transtector body. His head could scan and become any one of the native species of whatever planet the Wreckers had to infiltrate. In protoform, however, he could not detach his head, and felt cramped and restrained. He reluctantly transformed, forming the head of his transtector. He shed his altmode, and trudged towards the hanger, hoping that he would get a better altmode.

Roadbuster and Whirl heard the order next. Whirl happily went to his quarters, shed his altmode, and moved towards the hanger. While Whirl wasn’t fanatical about protoform, he was a few nuts short of an auto parts outlet, so he always tended to be in a good mood, even if he was missing body parts. Roadbuster felt much more uncomfortable in protoform mode, since that form was unarmed. He liked having a firearm, even a small one, on him at all time. He too, returned to his quarters, shed his altmode, and dragged himself towards the hanger.

Arcee, of all the Wreckers, hated the order the most. She had two reasons. One, it interrupted her target practice, and two; she was the only femme on a team of mechs. That meant tons of ogling, staring, and, from some mechs, whistling and flirting. She put a bull’s-eye through the last target, returned to her quarters, reverted to protoform, and dashed to the hanger.

Broadside groaned loudly as he heard the order. He knew he was going to die on this new planet. Given the weakness of the protoforms, he hoped that he’d just burn up in the atmosphere. The perpetually-depressed mech walked to his quarters, shed his altmode, and joined the others at the hanger.

In the hanger a variety of noises was heard. There was Roadbuster asking what the target was, Broadside asking what the chance of survival was, and a low whistle from Whirl, followed by a scream of pain. Ultra Magnus addressed these questions by raising his hands, as if asking for quiet. The hanger turned silent, other than the hum of transwarp travel and a whimper of pain from Whirl. Magnus spoke with a deep, calm, powerful voice. “Femmes and gentlemechs, in a moment we will arrive at Planet Sol-3, also known as ‘Earth’ to its inhabitants. 1 lunar cycle ago, I received a transmission of Optimus Prime, that Megatron was defeated, and that the Allspark was destroyed.”

A stunned silence filled the air. “D-d-d-does t-t-this m-m-mean th-that th-the w-w-war’s o-o-over?” Roadbuster stuttered. He was going to cry. For him, if the war was over, there was nothing left for him to shoot. Nothing left for him to do. He had no talent other than fighting, and he would never amount to anything outside the war.

“Not yet,” Ultra Magnus stated, to calm his weapon specialist’s fears. “Starscream is still alive, and we’ve intercepted a transmission that he’s taken over the Decepticons. Prime has called all available Autobots to Earth. We’ll have to remain undercover, and we can’t let the natives be aware of our presence. When this ship leaves transwarp,” he gestured towards the hanger door. “You will transform and jump out. Make impact, scan a new form, and stay in it until we regroup. There may be Decepticon survivors of the first attack, so watch out.”

As if to emphasize his point, the Xantium left transwarp. “Alright, this is it!” Magnus shouted to the Wreckers, “GO, GO, GO!” Each Wrecker transformed into a landing mode, and leaped from the ship, hoping to not land in the planet’s oversize ocean…

C'mon, I could use some feed back here!

Chapter 1

Skies over Nevada

Whirl penetrated the atmosphere safely. While he streaked down to the ground in landing mode, he noticed a vehicle coming right at him. Judging by the primitive radio communications, Whirl inferred he was in some sort of restricted area. That usually meant a confrontation with local security, which Whirl couldn’t wait for. While still falling, he transformed, and scanned the vehicle. Further details showed that it was an AH-64 Apache assault Helicopter. Whirl selected it as his altmode. He was already in it before he could ever hit the ground. He loved his arsenal, as well. A rocket launcher and a machine gun! Could he want less? The humans in the helicopters certainly could.

Somewhere in Nevada

Not too far off, Roadbuster’s landing went awry. He broke through an abandoned military hanger, and nearly crashed through the floor. As he picked himself up, he did a scan of the trashed hanger. The scan showed it belonged to the now-defunct government branch “Sector Seven”. It was loaded, interestingly enough, with M-1 Abrams tanks. However, they had been modified… with cybertronian technology. Mainly, the main cannon was replaced with a fusion cannon. Oh, sure there were flamethrowers, and rocket launchers, and a fifty-cal machine gun, but fusion cannons were possibly the most devastating Cybertronian weapon ever made. Roadbuster almost slagged himself out of sheer excitement. He scanned the vehicle, and enthusiastic about trying his new toy, began vaporizing everything in the hanger.

Tranquility, NV

Arcee made impact almost gracefully. She maneuvered the thrusters on her drop-pod mode so that as she hit the ground gently, she slid a mere two meters upon impact. She transformed, and gave a scan, looking for the altmode that would suit her. She settled on a Suzuki GSX1300R motorcycle, something with the grace and agility that matched hers. The back served as a convenient place to store a sniper crossbow, which was all Arcee needed.

Chromedome hit the ground a bit harder than Arcee. As he got up, he decided that he would scan the first vehicle that he saw. Oddly enough, that happened to be a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88. He also scanned the driver, as an altmode for his head. He eyed his own arsenal. A double barreled, right-wrist-mounted, flechette gun and a left-wrist mounted chainsaw. He pitied any Decepticons who would get in his way.

As Ultra Magnus landed in tranquility, he contemplated what would happen next. Megatron was gone, the Allspark destroyed. What would happen to the Wreckers? Arcee would be fine. She could just adapt to her surroundings and live comfortably. Chromedome would probably do the same, with a little bit more time. Roadbuster and Whirl were the ones he was afraid about. How could Roadbuster react to nothing to shoot, nothing to kill? Magnus was afraid he might shoot himself. Whirls would flip if he was told there was nothing for him to destroy. He would probably go rogue, and randomly destroy stuff for the thrill of it. He turned his attention back to his hunt for an altmode. He finally settled on a Car carrier, since it was his size, and it could carry other Wreckers. He was relieved to find that his old Ion Rifle was with him again. He didn’t know about the others, but this was a planet he could call home. He went back to thinking about the Wreckers, this time Broadside. Where he, anyway?

Somewhere else in Nevada

Broadside hit the desert ground hard. He wasn’t dead, not yet, at least. He transformed from his landing mode, and picked himself up. “Don’t move.” The voice behind him was firm and tough, and it was backed by the familiar hum of a cannon charging up…

Sorry for the delays, I'll try to be a bit quicker with part 3.

Chapter 2

Outer space, edge of solar system

The Thanatos entered the solar system with ease. The majestic dark purple battleship slid across space, moving at a steady speed. The ship was loaded with enough firepower to devastate an entire city, and enough supplies and fuel to traverse 150 solar systems. Its transwarp drive was incredible, allowing it to traverse an entire solar system in just one day. But the ship was nowhere near as important as its passengers…

The Thanatos

On the warship’s bridge a lone Decepticon slept. He was waiting for the ship to leave transwarp. The ship, acknowledging that it had reached its first destination, awoke him. His one red optic lit up, showing he was ready. The Decepticon was a great warlord, and a powerful leader. He was also possibly one of the smartest commanders in the entire army. Every single one of his actions was dictated by logic. He based all opinions and decisions on what was the most rational and effective.

“My, you’re up early, Shockwave.”

The commander turned to see Bomb-Burst, his vampiristic lieutenant. “We have exited transwarp,” Shockwave stated, “We need to be ready to execute the second jump. Gather the crew, and inform the new EOD of our status. Also, let him know that the Darksyde is in position.”

“As you command, Captain.” Bomb-Burst walked away from the bridge. He entered the lift and selected crew quarters. As the lift descended, Bomb-burst thought about the unpleasant task before him. While the old Emperor of Destruction was eager for news, the new one was very aggravating. He was more of a politician than a warlord.

Bomb-Burst left the lift upon its arrival and approached Starscream’s quarters. He walked past his two cronies, Skywarp and Thundercracker, who were supposed to be on guard duty. They were both sleeping. He opened the door. Starscream jolted awake from his recharging bay, with his thermo-cover tossed over to his right, as if hiding something. Bomb-Burst half knew what he was hiding. It was definitely a femme. Whether he had taken up Megatron’s habit of force-mating with captured femmes, or he just brought along some “Comforter” was hard to tell. ‘What do you want!?!” the newly crowned Emperor of Destruction said, in his high-pitched, but somewhat raspy, voice.

“Shockwave wishes to inform you that we have left transwarp and are proceeding to move to our next destination. Also, the Darksyde is in position.”

“Inform them that they are to remain in position until I give the order. Now give us- I mean me, some privacy.” Starscream’s response only confirmed that he had brought along a femme for his own pleasure. Bomb-burst wondered what he’d say her role was. “As you command, Lord Starscream.” He left and proceeded to awaken the other crew members.

His first stop was the Battlechargers. Bomb-Burst didn’t dare step into their quarters. It reeked of old food, and had pictures of scantily-clad femmes covering most of the walls. He despised both Battlechargers, both Runabout and Runamuck, but knew their speed made them valuable to the cause. He only cracked the door open. The smell was already offending his scent detectors. “Shockwave wishes to see you at the bridge,” he said loudly enough to awaken the two of them. He left the door as quickly as possible.

Next stop was the Constructicons. Of all the transformers on this mission, they had the biggest reason to come. One of their own, Bonecrusher, as already deployed to Sol-3, and hadn’t been heard of. This time, he stepped into the room. The floor was littered with tons of parts, and many half-built creations. The leader, Hook, was lying down. To his right, was the big, heavy, and stupid, Mixmaster. On Hook’s left was the speedy, arrogant, aft-retentive Scrapper. He awakened them with the same message he gave the Battlechargers.

He proceeded onwards to Dreadwing’s room. Of all the rooms, dreadwing’s was his favorite. There was little light, as Dreadwing never bothered to install illuminators. He entered the room. Unsurprisingly, Dreadwing was already awake. Before Bomb-burst could get his message out, Dreadwing said, “I know, he wants me on the bridge. Not that it matters, anyway. What’s the point? This war’s over without Megatron. We should just call it quits, and maybe the autobots won’t kill us all.” Bomb-burst left the depressing android where he stood, and rushed to meet the others on the bridge.

En route to the bridge, Bomb-burst ran into Soundwave. He wasn’t surprised that the spy already knew to go to the bridge, chances were that one of his henchmen, either Laserbeak or Buzzsaw, who were mounted on his shoulders, or Ravage, who was at his master’s feet. The spy gave him a stare that sent a chill up Bomb-burst’s backbone infrastructure. As to what Soundwave was thinking was a mystery.

When Bomb-burst made it back to the bridge, he took his seat at the right of Shockwave’s command chair. Oddly enough, Starscream arrived last. Everybody knew what took him so long. He could be heard chewing out Skywarp and Thundercracker for falling asleep on the job throughout the entire ship. The Battlechargers were snickering, and reenacting their favorite bits of Starscream’s rant. Soundwave’s henchmen had all entered their storage components throughout his body. The constructicons took their place throughout the bridge. Starscream entered with a very attractive femme on his right and Skywarp on his left. Thundercracker was on the femme’s right. “This, everybody,” Starscream began, gesturing towards the femme, “is Thunderblast, my, err…. Secretary. Yeah, my secretary.”

Shockwave ignored her. Logic dictated she would eventually run out of ways to make Starscream “happy”, and he would have her attempt to do something useful, where she would probably meet her end, unless she met a particularly chivalrous autobot. He began to make preparations for the transwarp jump. The rest of the crew followed suit. Bomb-Burst used the communications system to relay Screamer’s order to the Darksyde.

Shockwave began his countdown. “Transwarp in 3… 2… 1… go.” Dreadwing punched a button at the engine controls and the Thanatos disappeared into transwarp.

chapter 3

Tranquility outskirts

Ultra Magnus drove through the town and into the desert. He would use himself as a rendezvous point for the Wreckers. <<Report in, everyone>> he said into the Comlink.

<<Whirl here. Came into some conflict with the locals, but no casualties on either side.>>

<<Roadbuster here. Give me something to shoot.>>

<< Arcee here. Requesting rendezvous point.>>

<<Chromedome here. Both forms ready to go, where’s Broadside?>>

Chromedome’s question reinforced Magnus’s fear. Usually, whenever Broadside landed, he would complain about his health, and how he was probably going to die on this mission. It wasn’t like him to keep quiet…

<< Alright everyone here’s the rendezvous point. It’s a small, abandoned air force base. I’ll meet you there. WRECKERS, TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!>>

The Nevada desert, near Tranquility

“You know,” Barricade said to his new prisoner, “it’s been a while since I killed an Autobot. And a Wrecker, too! I thought you were all blown up when we bombed the slag out of Uraya.”

Both Barricade and Broadside remembered that day. The Constructicons had already totaled the state’s Crystal City, and the Wreckers had to help relocate the survivors to Iacon. However, the Decepticon warship [i]Darksyde
, had mercilessly bombed the entire state until there was nothing left to find. The Decepticons had officially written off the Wreckers as MIA, as they couldn’t find any hint of their great foes. The Darksyde had been shot down later that week, but the ‘Cons had it rebuilt, using the wreckage of Uraya. Broadside remembered barely escaping with his life, as he, the Wreckers, and the refugees all used a hidden subterranean tunnel to escape.

“Sir,” the familiar voice of Payload, Barricade’s new sub-commander, entered the Comlink, “We’ve found a place to move the prisoner. It’s an Air Force base just up north of here. We can just follow the highway.”

“Good work,” Barricade responded, Have the prisoner prepped and ready. I want him moving five minutes ago.” The surviving earth Decepticons arrived on the scene rather rapidly. First there was Swindle, dumb and trigger-happy, going as far as to replace his voice box with another gun, Payload, the afore-mentioned second in command, Dropkick, the whiney, complaining one, and Scorponok, the silent, beast-like one.

Barricade wasted no time in giving his orders. “Payload, take the prisoner and get ready to move. Swindle, clear the highway. Dropkick, take the rear. Scorponok, cover us from the ground. I’ll take Payload’s right.” He bellowed his next order as a mockery of Broadside and the Autobots. “DECEPTICONS, TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!”

chapter 4

CATS air force base, Nevada

Brawl and Wreckage observed the Decepticon convoy as they rolled towards their new base. Neither spoke a word. Brawl had been silenced by the death of his brother, Devastator, at Mission City, and Wreckage was always quiet. Brawl immediately began to scout the surroundings. There wasn’t much. Except for one, unmanned, pink motorcycle, right on a cliff by the base.

Arcee looked at the base. “Slag” She muttered to herself. Two Decepticons. She could easily kill them right now, but she wasn’t sure if there were more. <<Magnus, I have 2 hostiles. Requesting permission to engage.>>

<<Negative, Arcee. Keep an eye on them and wait for my word. Then terminate them.>> She sat and waited, making sure her bow was loaded. Her time would come.

Brawl, on the other hand, was a little less than satisfied with Barricade’s orders. He wanted to avenge his brother above all else, but Barricade said that he wasn’t allowed to open fire. He watched the Autobot with vigor. The ‘bot was pink and in a lookout position. She was definitely the Wrecker’s sniper. He held his fire for the time being. His time would come.

Roads to CATS

The other wreckers sped to the facility, moving quickly in their vehicle modes. Roadbuster was moving too slow, so he had driven up onto Magnus’s combat deck. <<So, Magnus, where’s Broadside?>>

<<Give me a minute, Roadbuster. There are two hostiles at the base, so I need to think about them. There’s a chance they might know.>>

<<All right. But if they don’t know, I’m fraggin’ them anyway.>>

Ultra Magnus had no concerns about Roadbuster’s statement. He was still trying to figure out how he was going to break it to a group of highly trained murderers that they weren’t here to destroy everything.

On the other road, Barricade had already had the prisoner transferred to Dropkick’s possession. The report form Brawl had convinced him to move quicker. If the Wreckers had come to retrieve their man, then everyone in his little squad was as good as fragged.

Just then, both teams arrived at the east and west gates of CATS. Both of them broke through the gates with ease, and simultaneously spotted each other. Ultra Magnus bellowed a command as he detached from his combat deck and transformed. “ARCEE, NOW!”

Can you guess all the pop culture references I’ve put in so far?

Chapter 5

CATS air force base

Brawl was dead before he could even figure out what was going on. Arcee’s sniper bolt had hit him dead between the optics.

Wreckage had already fired a few mortar rounds to cover for Barricade and the others to arrive. The blasts missed, but did their purpose. Ultra Magnus and Chromedome had been forced into cover. Whirl danced in the air, spinning and weaving, all while raining machine gun and rocket fire down on the Decepticons.

Roadbuster, still in tank mode, fired his machine gun and missiles without hesitation. His fusion cannon shot towards Payload. The blast struck him directly in the chest, completely disintegrating his chest and head, and ripping his arms from his shoulder sockets.

Using his comrade’s diversion, Broadside reached around, grabbed Dropkick by his head, and smashed him into the ground. While his guard was still recovering, Broadside ran towards the airbase’s hangar. He needed to join the fight. Barricade scowled as he looked towards the escapee. “Scorponok, Dropkick, Wreckage, STOP HIM!” He rose from cover, his blade wheel spinning, “I have my own target to eliminate.”

Chromedome split from cover, making a run to meet up with Broadside. He burst into the hangar, to find Broadside scanning a VTOL BAE Harrier II. As he took on his new altmode, Chromedome walked towards him, shotgun raised in the event of an attack. From behind him came Wreckage, removing the Wrecker’s Shotgun hand. “You sneaky spawn of a glitch!” Chromedome howled a list of Cybertronian obscenities. “It’s a legitimate strategy,” Wreckage replied. Chromedome took his other hand, and got out his chainsaw. It clashed with Wreckage’s blades in a duel to the death.

From behind Broadside came Dropkick and Scorponok. Broadside pulled out his newest weapons: an axe and an EMP torpedo launcher. Scorponok came first, rushing Broadside. He leapt out of the way, firing a set of EMP torps at his assailant. The beastly Decepticon spun to dodge the attack, and returned for another lunge. This time Broadside delivered a solid punch to the scorpion’s head, knocking it out of the hangar.

Outside, the fight was picking up. Barricade had directly engaged Ultra Magnus, whose combat deck, along with Whirl and Roadbuster, was keeping Swindle at bay. Swindle rose from cover, firing all his weapons in a massive salvo. Roadbuster rolled forward, and fired his fusion cannon. The blast missed Swindle, but wrecked the building he was using for cover. Swindle tossed some grenades at Magnus, who stepped out of their arc, simultaneously avoiding another attack from Barricade. He responded with a solid kick to Barricade’s legs, knocking the fearsome Decepticon down. While on the ground, Barricade threw his blade wheel, barely catching Roadbuster on the leg. The trigger-happy soldier responded by firing a barrage of missiles at Barricade. Barricade dodged the missiles, propelling him back up. Roadbuster turned his attention back to Swindle.

Inside the hangar, the battle was getting hotter by the minute. Chromedome and Wreckage were locked in a battle of steel, while Broadside and Dropkick were engaged in a fight to the finish. Dropkick brought his foot up to nail Broadside in the chest. Broadside retaliated by swinging his axe at his opponent.

Meanwhile, Arcee had scoured the highway, looking for something. <<Magnus, I’ve found a way to end the fight, send the combat deck.>>

Expect to see less of me until late June-early July. I have finals and a bunch of other crap to do at the end of the school year. And then summer gym… Don’t get me started.

Chapter 6

CATS Air Force Base

Magnus responded to Arcee’s transmission. <<Roger, sending Whirl and Combat deck.>> He then tuned around to punch Barricade in the face. After typing the command on his wrist, and relaying the response to Whirl, he turned to face his opponent. Barricade brought his blade up for a chopping attack. Magnus countered by landing an uppercut on Barricade’s chest. Barricade snarled, and swung his blade forward. Magnus leaped back out of the way.

Elsewhere, Roadbuster was having troubles of his own. A stray shot from Swindle had taken out his machine gun, and he had run out of missiles. He needed a plan, and quick. Or maybe not. He stepped out from behind cover to rush the wrecked building Swindle was using for cover. Swindle, clearly taken aback by this move, began to run back in order to keep his distance. Of course, he had his front turned to Roadbuster, so he couldn’t see what he was running into. This proved to be a problem when he backed into a barbed wire fence, tripping him, and causing him great pain as the barbs scratched him as he struggled to get out. Roadbuster followed Swindle and finished the pest with a point-blank fusion cannon shot to the face.

Meanwhile, in the hangar, Chromedome was having trouble. Wreckage swung at him, hoping to slash him across the chest. Chromedome blocked the attack with his chainsaw, but failed to account for the other blade, which swung down and knocked his head clean off his shoulders. His body stumbled back, fell, and twitched for a minute before laying still. Wreckage turned around and lifted his blade to clean it. However, he noticed that there was no energon on it, but instead, a 5’ 10”, razor-thin robot, holding on for dear life. Chromedome swung from the blade and on to Wreckage’s chest. Climbing up it, he grabbed on to Wreckage’s face and forced the moth open. Swinging a twiggy arm in, he then proceeded to pull out a wrist blade and viciously slash the inside of Wreckage’s head, causing profuse bleeding. Chromedome then jumped from Wreckage’s shoulders to that of his transtector’s, and remounted his body.

A few yards away, Broadside was having double trouble, since Scorponok had returned and Dropkick was getting a bit more persistent. Broadside hit the humanoid Decepticon with the flat side of his axe, knocking him to the ground. Broadside brought the axe up for a finishing blow, but Scorponok tackled him, causing him to drop the axe on Dropkick’s face. Broadside kicked Scorponok off of him, and fired an EMP torpedo at him. The torpedo struck the ground next to Scorponok, sending him flying out of the hangar, and far away.

Back outside the hangar, Ultra Magnus was being forced into a corner. Barricade’s attacks were getting more and more persistent, and they were getting more an d more accurate. He had already been disarmed of his Ion rifle, while Barricade’s spinning blades where in full effect. The Decepticon Commander got up close to Magnus, looking into his opponent’s optics. “Why are you still fighting?” He asked.

“I’m stalling,” Magnus confessed.

“For what?”

“THIS!” The last comment came from Whirl as he flew through the air, firing away at Barricade. The Decepticon ducked and dodged, hoping to avoid his enemy’s attacks. Simultaneously, Arcee and the Combat deck came crashing through the barbed wire. The combat deck was carrying several black barrels, which Arcee commenced to grab and throw from the deck. “GET CLEAR!” She screamed.

Barricade made a break for it, but Magnus removed most of his head with his newly-found Ion Rifle. The other bots transformed and ran as Arcee dropped the last barrel and rode the Combat Deck to safety. Then, from high up in the clouds, Whirl let his missiles fly. They streaked towards the ground, hitting the barrels and causing them to explode with a fiery fury.

As the wreckers kept moving, Chromedome spoke up. “Next time, can I pick the rendezvous point?”
