While I understand your point, your opinion represents the lowest of artistic lows. You are lowering the bar to ensure your own satisfaction. Where's the accountability for really bad design choices? It doesn't matter? Why not just watch Ice Age and imagine the dinobots in it, then? Why not close your eyes and say the TF movie is good? (Not directed specifically at you, as a lot of people agree with your point).
While art is subjective, it isn't unreasonable to expect a certain level of polish or accomplishment. And loathe as some may be to it, criticism paves the path to improvement. But if the bulk of you have a "who gives a sh*t?" attitude, then why not make the next TF a romantic comedy? Why not use puppets and high school actors? Seems like there's nothing Bay can do to dissuade you from paying him money to see crap TF designs; crap, American-Pie-wannabe jokes; and completely forgettable plots.
ey! don't judge my opinion, bro. i respect your stance as an unrelenting conservative; hell, i even agree with you on a lot of your points. but i'm a realist, and what's going to happen in the movies is going to happen in the movies, regardless of how much the diehard fans bitch and moan about it. i look at the movieverse as just another continuity. like marvel uk. dreamwave. idw. animated. prime. shattered glass. armada. cybertron. energon. rescue bots. and whatever the hell else is out there. not one of those series' are exactly the same, and all of em have their pro's and con's. the movieverse is the same way. just in live action.
there are things i hate about the movies; jazz's & ironhide's deaths, wheeljack's total defamation of character, the wreckers being nascar vehicles, autobots being in one movie and inexplicably being omitted from others, ultra magnus' whereabouts when prime died, what they did with the matrix & some other things, but do you think bay gives a damn about how we all feel about his creation? hell no. money talks, and as long as that cash in reelin in, he'll do whatever the hell he wants. and people are going to watch it regardless. it's not like we can get a lynch mob to storm his facilities with picket signs & lit torches demanding he make a g1 accurate movie. so we're left with what we have. and by golly, i'm gonna take it for what it's worth. i love transformers in all their incarnations. and quite frankly, all the transformer films are romantic comedies in a way. just with awesome explosions and some epic fight scenes. (prime goin in on the cons the only way a prime should, right before he dies in rotf comes to mind.)
and it's not a "who gives a ****" attitude i have. i care, i just know better than to care too much. i mean jeez, over half a decade of "less than par" films in transformer fans eyes and people are still expecting more than whats being offered instead of developing even a small sense of appreciation for what's being done with the films is rather dumb in my opinion. we know it's gonna be different and inaccurate, so folks should just enjoy it for what it is and quit complaining. i feel like bay contributed a big part to the reignited spark of the transformers in the 21st century and brought new fans into the fold. and if they want to experience transformers as it really should be experienced, there are comics & shows for all of that and they're easy to find.
point is, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. so don't start a war that'll consume every energy pocket on the planet unless my opinion forces your opinion into servitude.
I agree. It's just a movie, you can love it or hate it.
