Transformers Animated NEW Info 6/25

I'm expecting the Decepticons to be featured as major villains. They'll probably be like Slade in Teen Titans, popping up less frequently than the less threatening baddies, but still having some major storylines devoted to them.

Seriously, people. Comparing Teen Titans to the new TF series is like trying to compare apples to oranges. It doesn't do any favors for your image.
As for myself, I personally don't like what I'm seeing and hearing. But you know, maybe I'll actually end up liking it. (Goodness knows I used to hate broccoli as a kid, but later in life grew to love it.)

sure apples and oranges are different, but they have a commonality when coming from the same store!!! Teen titans is great for itself but should not have been the company that does the new transformers series..

If it's anything like Teen Titans, this will be excellent. That series was panned by people for being too kiddy....Though more often then not, the episodes were quite serious. They had some funny ones of course, but a lot were very dark. Not to mention that the animation itself was extremely fluid. People are already trashing this when they've effectively seen nothing except for a picture. I don't have a problem with that for the most part. I just wish folks would hold off until they've seen a couple episodes.
Hell Titans first episode was pretty generic. It wasn't until the end of the first season where things really started getting good. I could see this being the same way. Having the Decepticons staying in the background for most of the first season, manipulating the humans into doing things for them. That way the Autobots think the humans are the cause of all the problems since they came to Earth. I mean come on guys, it's the writer who did the 2003 Ninja Turtles and X-Men. Those were both excellent series.
They say in the synopsis that the shows aren't linked....Freakishly enough they said the same thing about Teen Titans. And for the most part each episode was it's own self contained story. But many had a little thing happen that made you realize something was building in the background. I can definitely see them taking this approach. And I personally can't wait to see this show. Certainly a breath of fresh air compared to that Anime bullshit we've had for the last 4 series.
I understand what you're saying, but I don't see this as being solely about the writing and story direction; its also about how they look.
The 'look' of Transformers is every bit as powerful as the writing and moreso I'd argue since we're talking about a visual entertainment medium that is rooted to a toy franchise. There's most often been a certain seriousness and plausability to the tech design of Tf's, both as robots and as vehicles, and this I feel is one of the winning aspects to their formula. Kids loved it in '84 and they're loving it now.
Back to writing and story direction, one thing we've seen is that if there is going to be a liberal reinterpretation of how Tfs appear in a series, then the story elements better be recognizable. Beast Wars achieved this balance with unconventional looking characters but still very familiar plot /story elements. Beast Machines tried pushing things further design-wise and story-wise but they ultimately went too far and the fans rendered their judgement. Bottom line: Transformers work as cool robot factions that shapeshift into realistic or plausable /sci-fi vehicles etc, not as as an overly-humanized, zany-proportioned superhero squad.

Also people need to stop lumping TMNT 2003 with the others as being the same animation style. It's not even close to the same.
Regardless I'll take the story quality of TMNT 2003 mixed with the animation of Teen Titans any day of the week over the poor ass dubs we've gotten in the last four series.

Why many TF fans I ve seen have problam with anime TFTheMuffin wrote:But if the stories end up being good (and as I said, the dude who wrote TMNT 2003 and X-men is on the crew), then would some off proportions really bother you? I've always been one for substance over style. If a show has a good story, I really don't care how poor the animation is. Granted I don't mind this animation style either. Even for Transformers.

.If they dont like the dubs then dont watch it. Watch in Japanese with Subs. I love it anyway but only Armada that dont like.
As for the new show the art stlye may suck but I hope there will be some nice toys.

To be honest I sincerely dislike most Anime period. So that's already one giant strike. The second strike is then having to read for the entire episode. Television is made for audio and video output. I shouldn't have to read for 30 minutes straight to get the story. And the third strike being the horrible 3D animation. I don't like how they just took the toys and made models based off of them. Including the poor joints on a lot of them. There was very little fluidity and every move they made was jerky and really unappealing. Plus the lips...Oh God the lips!
Sorry. Bad flashback there. I'm just sad we have to wait until 08' for the series to come out. This movie is only gonna last a few months and then it'll be gone. Be kind of shocking to not have anything in between.

Damn straight. That's another show that gets panned but is actually pretty decent. It's a cool concept that really hasn't been done before.
