Who the hell cares. G1 was what, over 20 years ago? Let it go.

Hmm. Well, as long as they are robots, whom which transform into other other objects and devices, in an attempt to disguise themselves, then I'm cool.

Don't you mean, "They've ended my childhood! After twenty years plus however old I was when the show started! Oh nooooooooooooo!!!!"
What would be really clever would be if they kept the backstory vague enough that it could be seen as a continuation of virtually any existing continuity, what with being set in the near future and all. They could just define "near future" as circa 2040 (when the target audience will be where G1's target audience, ergo us, are now). That would fit after Cybertron and into the gap between even the Japanese series and Beast Wars, plus give the comic series some breathing room. So it'd be not just "the new Transformers animated series" but "The All-New Super Official One-and-Only Transformers!" Man, that'd annoy the fanboys.

Each series in the 'Unicron Trilogy' was an improvement over the previous series. I never truly enjoyed any of them, but they did get better. Here's to hoping that this series will one more step in the right direction!

or it could just start out crappy again and have 2 more series come out that are better and better, but in the end still be crappy when done and over with..

I like Optimus, Prowl, and Bumblebee, but bulkhead looks like crumplezone's head on an overly steroided football player and Ratchet is a fat old geezer who looks like he should be in a retirement home

No. The movie designs, and these looks absolutely nothing like each other.
I dub thee, the worst troll, ever.

Then you sir, clearly know nothing of the process of producing a cartoon.
They are, deal with it.

if this guy is involved in the new animation toys we could be in for some great toys, I can imagine his style (seen in classics BB) working well here.
edit. the panel info from botcon is suggesting that the toys are awesome, a voyager grimlock as T rex!!

I wouldn't say Cybertron was better than Energon. Just my opinion, but Cybertron came off WAAAAY too cheesy for my tastes.xxaMaxx wrote:autobot_aza wrote:thats lame! omg what were they thinking! but atleast thers going to be another season so thats ok

I'm tired of hokey transformers shows. Let's get serious. I want to see some BW level of writing and characterization with G1 styled bots.
If this new show is it? GREAT.
It's already headed in the right direction. No more 'anime'esque transformation sequences!!!

^Let G1 go. We get G1 in everything, up to, and including the toys AND the comics. Can we MOVE on from the same ****? It's becoming stale.

I guess I agree with that, The Unicron trilogy had embarresing characters, and over done designs. The Toys are AWESOME though, especially Cybertron and Armarda.
Still, I've barely seen any of them, so I'll be getting Armarda first for £7.

While I'm a big fan of this style of animation, I'm hesitant to see how it translates to TF. On first glance, I thought "Bulkhead" was a steroid-pumped Hound. Optimus...well...at least it's not movie-Optimus with the lips.
The voice cast has me excited, though. Wonder if they either didn't want Cullen, or just couldn't get him...

Found this on IGN:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/804/804860p1.html
An interview with Director Matt Youngberg. Some of it is insightful of what they are trying to do with the series. Honestly it sort of put my mind a little at ease about the new series.
