JLU is animated and yet, rocks.
it aint the comics, but it is still very cool & stylistic.

I, for one, don't bother with the cartoons. If the toys work out, as I expect they will, I'll be pleased.

It does capture the dynamic feel of Teen Titans and still has the charm of Transformers

it not that bad, but its too much like what has already been done in super hero cartoons ... TF needs to be different and better then stuff thats already on TV.. Whose up for another Beast Wars series or a reimagined G-1 done by Mainframe..??

Hi contradicting statement.

Here's some things that you youngsters have to accept, since we go through this with every freaking new show since G1.

- G1 was almost 20 years ago. Let it go. Stop holding on to what it was, and what it did, as some kind of weird standard for everything following it. I watched it (as a kid), and I loved it for what it was. An animated toy line. G1 didn't take itself too serious until the film, and that was cool.

- Optimus just may not be a truck, and Megatron may not be a freaking Walter pistol. It's not a hard concept to grasp. The Transformers aren't their G1 earth-modes. They are whatever the hell the current writers decide they are. Deal with it. Leave your G1 fetishes somewhere else.

- Americans have been working hand in hand with the Takara since day 1, so all all "anti-American" talk is unfounded. They (Americans) are responsible for the bulk of the story, Period. If anyone can tell a good story, it's them.

- Not everyone buys toys. Meaning the ones whom don't, couldn't care less about the toys. "Aww man! this wouldn't work as a toy! show sucks!". Nope, don't care. As long as the show looks cool, and is watchable, they will continue to live without having a heart attack.

- Finally, things change. Evolve. The same concepts that worked back in '84, wont work again in '07. Period. For a franchise to survive, and thrive, it's gonna have to change, so it can appeal to more than just the G1 fans. Or would you rather they went broke, regurgitating G1 material?

EDIT: Only Pre-Production will be done by Cartoon Network studios. Mook is taking care of the rest (japanese stuido).

skywarp2, well of course there is a theme going on, boxy bots and vehicles but thats TF all over. Prime is a truck cab type vehicle (albeit with a watercannon/gun on top) but so have most primes and theres dozens of versions of him. id be totally suprised if these are repaints, there is zero reason to assume they will be.

uhhh sorry dude, but i wasn't being general about the designs.. if you look at prime he has the same form design as GALAXY CONVOY.. I JUST THINK IT WILL BE A RE-MOLDED LESS DETAILED VERSION.. OR WHO KNOWS SINCE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO SPIN LIKE THE TASMANIAN DEVIL TO TRANSFORM, THE TOYS THEMSELVES MAY JUST BE ANIMATED TOYS OF JUST THE BOT MODES!!!

I love that this preliminary art is rousing such varied reactions. Hopefully the show's creators are checking the boards, like we're told IDW and Movie staff have done, to evaluate our feedback and incorporate it into the show.

Saw this story a bit late I see. Don't really like the animation at all. I just hope the story is half decent.

I really hope a lot of the toys aren't just rehashes of old stuff (i.e. Prime).

Most of all, I still hate the title "animated." Makes no sense to me what so ever. I mean, what are they, lazy? What happened to "heroes"?

Generation one was the first series ever and actually set the bar by which all series have a standard to look back on, its simply how things are usually judged!! you get over it.. and then you'll be fine..

this series is gonna have new interpretations of the original generation One bots, it says so in the actual news flier, so I think the Generation one references are valid..plus its not the altmode they are complaining about so much as the actual art style.

Dude if your watching a new "KIDS" cartoon and your over the age of 25, and don't buy the toys then your weirder then those 30 somethings who collect them, and thats just insane!!! at least collecting toys has become mainstream..there are magazines devoted to the hobby, and its better then collecting stamps or coins or dead bugs..

thats not contradicting, the story line is not that bad, its still good vs evil and not silly formers in silly situations.. but then again who am i to comment, i have yet to see a single episode!!, but the art work is horrible!!! and I do stand by that..

I don't have to "look" smart, I already know I am.. as far as a G-1 cartoon, yeah I admit, I'd love it if they did it in CGI, but strictly as a direct to DVD series of maybe just a 2 hour episode or a Gundam type saga story that begins and ends in a 6 disc set..

If your into a toyline cartoon and don't collect toys your weird..plain and simple, don't understand. you never will....and as far as age... if your not a kid and watch cartoons well....I really can't say much.. but you have no right to look down on those who collect toys a hobby..

uhhh and as far as Americans Messing up Batman, I haven't seen any other Japanese or outside series other then american series mess up Batman.. the point is we can mess up our own shows, including Transformers..

I think they look fine. It's nice to see a new take on the Transformers. I can't wait to see what the toys will look like, I hope the Decepticons look as interesting.

They've got a sort of 'Teen Titans' look to them. I just have a bad, BAAAD feeling about this...
