Nelson here...
The July 2007 Wired Magazine feature Optimus Prime on the cover and an article on the Transformers film. It's a very good and entertaining read.
Among the quotes:
"I knew there were fans....I didn't know there were people who'd hunt you down. I urge them to watch the 1986 animated movie, go watch the cartoon. You'll want to shoot yourself."
"Then there's the matter of matter. Bays says that weight-mass orthodoxy informed the decision to make Prime a hog-nosed semi instead of the flat-front model from the cartoon, which he says, would have yielded only a 23 feet of robot height. (He wanted Prime to stand at least 30 feet tall.)"
"Physics also informed the decision to make Megatron, originally a pistol, into a jet..."
"But other alterations were simply Bay's prerogative. Optimus Prime now boast bright orange cholo flames and--much to fans' horror--lips. 'I'm the director. I make my own decisions. I like to paint the house green, even when everyone says it's got to be white."

It is now official. I want Optimus Prime. In real life.
Although his alt mode is probably not very fuel efficient, I'm sure aliens have worked out a system to make themselves more affordable. That said, I must buy one.
Screw college, I want Optimus Prime

Yes, yes, we know you messed with some things just due to artist/director's prerogative Bobby B! Much to our dismay...
Prime on the cover looks cool though!

One thing that still boggles my mind is why in the hell do people think they have to "unmask" anything that seems hidden. "Hey, what's behind his mask? Why does he have a faceplate? What does he have to hide from the world?"
Nothing, he's a frikin' robot. He dosen't need a mouth. If needs be, he could have a compartment in his kneecap for food & a speaker in his ass to talk out of.
Besides, some thing are better left uncovered. I mean, you take the mask off of Spider-man, & what do you get? A nerd. Just an average nerd.
Another good example is Ray Mysterio Jr. He was getting real popular a few years go, & then decided to take his mask off. After that, nobody could really care less....untill he put it back on. Now I don't ever see him without it.

Isn't that the same magazine that Seth Green wanted to be on in The Italian Job?
But yeah, Prime looks totally badass there

Looks really cool. I still don't like him talking s**t about G1 stuff, but whatever. Really thats the only problem i have with his changes. I knew stuff was going to have to be changed from G1, not a problem, but when you try to make me feel stupid for somthing i love, i can talk s**t back....thats my perogative.(although i never made any threats toward him, that's F***ed Up!!)
