Were there problems with the spring that controlled the gimmick? If so then I expect the reissue to be worse since Hasbro has been neutering the springs in these reissues.

Mine too. The sping is still quite strong, but not enough to hurt.

My old original Retrax is still in shape after all these years.

My Primal and Megs reissues shoot their missiles just fine. As for reissue Scorponok, he shoot his things like a champ.

Reviews of vintage retrax said the spring/trigger was very fidgity. The reissues of Wolfang and Cybershark have very, VERY weak springs.

Just get the vintage one. It will be MUCH cheaper than the reissue I can assure you.

And if you feel fancy, the Takara Beast Wars Neo (I think) who is blue and silver for probably the same price the reissue of Retrax may cost.

That might have to do, but there is just a satisfaction of picking up a figure at a store and getting it out of the box, instead of Ebaying it and waiting weeks to get it.

Was kind of hoping Terrorsaur would be on a rock bubble since he was one of the first two figures I got right when the line first hit stores in the 90s, but they went with the smooth one. That's fine and probably wouldn't bother me all that much except that for Retrax, a '97 toy that was never released on anything but a smooth bubble (that's correct, yes?) they went with a rock bubble for the reissue

was an abomination. The show models are downright ugly, creepy, and demonic. Perspective End proved they are based on horror game art. Thankfully the toys looked not much like the show, but they are still awfull in their own right. From the lanky spindly leg cheetor, to the dumb eye gimmick blackarachnia, to the McDonald dragon that turns into a soda.

That's just your opinion, and opinions =/= fact.

Like virtually every TF line, Beast Machines had it's hits and misses. You don't like them? Hey, that's cool, but others do, there are also people out there who may be trying to complete their Beast Machines collection or are looking to replace a figure from their childhood. This is where reissues come in.

What Hasbro puts out is never going to appeal to everyone, but they're the ones who recognise the existence of a market and if their marketing research sees a potential for profit then they'll go for it.

At the end of the day, no one is forcing you to buy it, you can just move on and continue to collect how YOU desire and leave others to collect how THEY desire.
