Transformers Beat GI Joe In Battle for DoD Support
Transformers Beat GI Joe In Battle for DoD Support

It appears that ROTF was allowed to use more vehicles and equipment used by the US Armed Forces wear as GI Joe film makers were not allowed to, due to the discontinuation of the vehicles in question.
The disparity does not mean “Transformers” painted a more flattering portrayal of the U.S. military than does “G.I. Joe,” Strub said.
“The difference has less to do — in many respects — with us than the filmmakers,” he said. “I mean I think in the case of ‘G.I. Joe,’ looking back, I think we feel that the filmmakers belatedly realized that we could have provided more support.”

A movie based entirely around a covert counter-terrorist group and they spent too much attention on JUST the group and it's unrealistic toys and not the very core of what makes the group what it is.
It's funny in the respect that Transformers gives better credit where credit is due and yet at the same time it is a slap in the face by the folks involved with the GI Joe project. Yet another way that TF kicks Joe's butt once again.
For all of you Bay-bashers, this is one point that you cannot say that Bay has screwed anything up. His rapport with the DoD is outstanding.

Before you give up all hope on it (easy to do at this point, I know) all I can say is...
Cobra-La!
See, it can get worse.

A "Transformer" was something you found on a telephone pole and not in a kids toybox or a show on t.v.
What's scary is that I can say that I played with original GI Joe's when I was a little kid then moved on to the original Star Wars then the 3 3/4" Joe figures when they came out. Then I discovered Transformers.
Don't bother with the math, it'll just scare you and it wont do me any favors either since I just celebrated my b-day on May 1st. It's safe to say I'm in the top 10% on this site as far as age goes.
But you are certainly right about everyone loving Giant Robots. Even my Dad thought that the original G1 Prime (and most of his forms since) was pretty neat and he got a kick out of the original Constructicons. My Dad has dealt with heavy equipment his whole life just like his Dad before him so to see something new come out of those rigs was pretty nifty in his book.
