Oh, I can think of several "'bot v. 'con" mix-ups. The problem is, every one of the ones I can think of could be explained by a previous use of the mold. That wouldn't apply here.

Why does it matter that the Motormaster tooling is used? How is that in any way pertinent to the Con vs. Bot debate?

It's not too much, since the Decepticon logo is a tampograph (and the Optimus Prime version has no molded logo, either). The point is more that there's no pre-existing Autobot logo that's part of the mold to explain it.

I see what you're saying now.

Also important to note is that he uses the Nemesis pre-tooled head. Which is awesome.

It doesn't matter to me so much that he's an Autobot. What I do wonder is if the combiner head will be any different.

The bio says he was captured by Shockwave, subjected to experiments, and locked away... Doesn't mean he couldn't have started out as an Autobot, even if his identity has since morphed and warped into something unrecognizable.

I don't think that's nearly enough to make him become an Autobot. IDW Overlord is a Decepticon despite bucking the entire chain of command. It just seems totally incomprehensible to turn a traditionally Decepticon character into an Autobot. I don't think ANY possible story could make that work for me. Mindless clone, zombie, Bizarro or otherwise. It just seems to be trying, needlessly, to shoehorn an Autobot torso into a ragtag combiner. Just let it be crazy. It doesn't have to unify them other than them being a multi faction robot.

Would a reprolabel help out with Toxitron? Just slap a 'Con symbol over the Autobot symbols?

As stated above, it has a pattern. I'd probably not care at all if it could be hidden entirely in bot mode. Better yet, leave it off and offer a few symbol choices as stickers. Since this is the one I am most interested in from my favorite CW mold, it ruffles me most. I mean, he's a con. It's right there on his name plate!

The term 'experiment' sounds familiar. I wonder if there have ever been any other 'experiment' transformers in the past. Maybe there could've been a time where a good guy experiment went rogue and wore the bad guy sigil. *cough*Rampage*cough* Could Toxitron be the reverse case where a bad guy experiment goes rogue and wears the good guy sigil?

You have to keep in mind that as a scientist, Shockwave does not care who the subject of his experiments is, be it Decepticon or Autobot. Toxitron may have started out as an Autobot in this continuum (or any, Animated never really delved into his history that far), but became a Decepticon Experiment, as in experimented on by Decepticons.

As far as comparisons are concerned, BW Rampage was crazy from the get-go and was only created out of a desire to recreate Starscream's mutant spark. Dubious intentions from the "good guys". Plus, Rampage was neutral, holding no allegiance, until pressured into BW Megatron's service by having half of his spark cut out and put in a cage lined with pure Energon crystals. One squeeze, one jolt of pain, that's all it took to put him in line, so it's a bit of a reluctant service unlike Inferno

Toxitron I don't know much about but it'd make sense if the mangled Autobot symbol was there to mock the Autobots by toxitron himself. Alternatively perhaps the symbol was mangled by shockwave during his experiment on an Autobot. After all shockwave was responsible for the dinobots in foc and IDW iirc.

Think of it like how Bizarro wears a messed up Superman symbol, Toxitron in this case wears a messed up Autobot symbol.

It's no different than Armada Wheeljack having a scratched out Autobot symbol. Toxitron has a sludged over Autobot symbol but he's a Decepticon.

Well, Twitter would seem to confirm that Toxitron's Autobot logo is here to stay. When I pointed out that the artwork posted this morning conveniently obscures the logo (while dropping my two cents worth that the Autobot logo is wrong), they pretty quickly responded. "Not wrong. Different universe."

To which I responded: "You can explain it any way you want. It's still wrong."

Eh? He's not the first TF to have his faction differ depending on the universe - Animated Strika comes to mind. That, and it's not like Toxitron has anything really "set" about him, in a multiversal sense - his only halfway significant appearance was as a joke character in a convention-exclusive comic.

Joining the TFSS will have no bearing on your ability to get MP Rabat and Megatron with the Joes. That said, I believe that those will similarly be available to all members (or former members since 2012).

Of course, the question of when those will be made available is still very much an open question. Seems to me they're running out of time.
