I'm not much of a Joe fan, myself, but I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Devil's Due "G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers" crossover comics that inspired this Serpent O.R. toy. If for nothing else than the fact that these comics buck tradition from both series and choose instead to go off and do whatever crazy things they want. Cuz, darn it, they are so FUN!

You got Cobra finding the Ark and using the stasis locked Bots and Cons as superweapons in the first story, Joes/Cobra/Autobots time traveling to the past and future in the second story, Serpent O.R. the "Son of Megatron" wanting the Matrix to understand the nature of life in the third story, and Unicron coming to eat Earth as part of an ancient deal made with Cobra-La (the villains from the 1986 Joe movie) in the fourth story.

So much of this is so bonkers and insane that it's all such a delightfully awesome read. And since you like obscure stuff, that's the icing on an already deliciously-nerdy cake. :D

True! I'd love a pathfinder. But Zaptrap IS Diaclone Shrapnel. (unless I made a typo looking at his wiki) But yeah, same for a Diaclone Bombshell. Love that stuff.

Hoping a legends Kickback is eventually on the way. Trio or nothing, Hasbro! And that FOC Kickback was embarrassingly bad. I loved 90% of the FOC line, but that one was so disappointing.

That said, too bad we never got a big version of Prime Hardshell/Bombshell. Like Animated Omega Supreme, that's one I will truly miss not having.

Pretty sure they'll be using one of the Targetmasters instead of an Arms Micron for the 7th figure.

As for Legends Bombshell, he's a 2015 figure.

A retool in fact, he has a new head. Here's a little bit of trivia: The Axelerators and Skyscorchers had simpler alternate names in Europe, Windbreaker was simply called "Zap" in the UK. It's those UK names that the Japanese names for the Block Town repaints were based on, in this case "Carzap". Same goes for the G2 Laser Rods.

For the second time ever I think I'll get the subscription. And it's mainly the two Seekers and SerpentOR I want. I can buy Nacelle as part of my Classics Seeker army and G2 SS is just different enough to be a new character in my mind. Army building classics Seekers is fun.

Bear in mind that I have the unique CHMS Seekers. Nacelle is way more official than the CHMS Sunstrom, which I have right next to the Botcon one. And I'm down with the concept of having a Classics version of a Seeker with unreleased prototype colours. IMO, that's kinda neat. I could care less that it's part of the "welcoming committee".

I gotta agree on making the other two Rainmakers to go with Acid Storm, though.

Carzap, Tarantulus, and Krok I could do without. I get what they're trying to do with Tarantulus, but it doesn't work for me.

Had they used the Encore Starscream mold with the G1 Thrust wings, this would be a really unique figure to add to a collection, but using the Classics mold for the 31st (?) time as a character I could care less about that's slightly above a fan-fiction character just doesn't work for me.
Then you must feel the same about the Sunstorm, Bitstream, and Hotlink toys that we got at BotCon 2013 since Nacelle as a character is of the exact same origin/nature as those three, being a one-off generic Seeker from the G1 cartoon's first episode.

If fact, the same would have to also apply to the likes of Acid Storm and any other generic from the G1 cartoon whose ever received their own toy.

You're missing my point. It has less to do with the name they put on it and more to do with what the toy is supposed to homage. Nacelle is an homage of a prototype that appeared in some early catalogs from Sears or Toy Fair. I'd rather have the actual toy of what was shown than have a toy that homages a prototype that we never received. Come out with that version first, then I might be more into this version.

Same with Carzap.
I was responding mainly to the following part:
as a character I could care less about that's slightly above a fan-fiction character
The character, not the name or the deco, but the character shares the same origin as the likes of Sunstorm, Bitstream, and Hotlink. All four came from a brief scene in the G1 cartoon's first episode:

Image

Note that this pic is old, made before Nacelle's identity was confirmed, hence the lack of certainty on the arrow pointing to Nacelle.

But isnt the subscription service supposed to cater to generations/classics collectors ? While I do own the 6 original seekers plus sunstorm and G2 ramjet, I have lost all interest in collecting vintage brick molds. For me the generations line is the new G1. The seeker mold is my all time favorite mold and I have close to 50 versions of it (yes im counting CHMS repaints and other KOs) Im totally pumped for nacelle and G2 starscream, those are my 2 favorite in the 3.0 set.

Nope and it's never been stated as such. The previous years have touched upon a very wide assortment of fans(very few Generations/Classics collectors were begging for more Animated, after all).

That said, the Wingsverse Seekers have all used the Classics Screamer mold, to it makes sense that Nacelle uses it too.

In the Club's defense, our various rankings of these figures just goes to show how different all of our interests are in Transformers figures, which makes the Club's job of making a subscription that appeals to everyone very challenging.

I do think the club has SOME responsibility to dole out some nods to the loyal "classics" fans. Those are certainly people interested in the lore, stories, characters... much more than the casual movie fan buying Bumblebees and Primes off the shelf.

But I get your point — same goes for the other niche fans.

I think the club has done a good job of being fair – giving some great service to different groups... including fans of femmebots, G2, Japanese, Animated, BW, SG, G1, Diaclone...

I think I'm personally most pleased when they give us those figures that seem to have "fallen through the cracks" and really deserve release. G2 Starscream is among those. I like that they keep their eyes open for those opportunities in addition to some clever original ideas like Nacelle/Carzap/Serpent OR.

It's a good mix, and I've come to expect just that.

Thanks for the reminder Sabrblade. Those Joe crossover issues have been fantastic. (I'm also loving the funny new one. For an fan that's been on board with the comics since the 80s, the new ones are a real blast from the past.)

BUT yeah. IF anyone is getting the TFCC 3.0, definitely pick up that comic Sabrblade mentions to put Serpent OR into context. Will get you excited about the figure for sure.

IMO, hasbro made that thing before they knew what they wanted to do with acid storm. because all the renditions that have followed have been way closer to the source material than the first "recognized" acid storm.

the rainmakers dont matter to me as i have the perfectly bright colored CHMS rainmakers on my shelf. but even if i didnt, that thing would not be representing acid storm in my classics display. he's a part of the oddities in the seekers display.

so to me, if hasbro wants to make "proper" rainmakers, they should call a mulligan on classics/generations acid storm and make three new rainmakers.

Very worth pointing out. This set has something for the following folks:

- G2 fans
- GI Joe fans
- Kreo fans
- Beast Wars fans, or at least those that like the "pre-earth" modes
- Minicon fans
- Action Master/G1 fans
- Seeker enthusiasts

Could probably think of more without trying too hard, but that makes the point. I'm not super pumped for this set, but I have to admit they did a good job making it diverse. I know they're in it to make money first and have no illusions about that, so if this helps them do so, I ain't mad.

I have the CHMS Rainmakers too, but that's neither here nor there. They can just be generics or vice versa. That's the beauty of Seekers, if they're divergent enough they can just be a different guy.

Anyway, I don't see the point in making another, "better" Acid Storm. None of the Botcon Welcoming Committee Seekers matched their models, so why would they want to match character models that were even more bland? (although this veers the topic away from the main point).

I could go for one of those Asia exclusive 3 packs for the "Rainmakers" with a PROPER Sunstorm (the BotCon one doesn't work because it uses black instead of white), a variant of Acid Storm and then whatever blue or purple Seeker version they want to do.

Sunstorm, at least, has more established personality than Acid Storm.

An Asian exclusive would make better sense for a trio of Rainmakers than Funpubk. At least those aren't quite as pricy and the United line has that shiny paint I so love. It just seems like a waste to use a Funpub deco on trying to "perfect" something that's already released, especially since they've established that they'll diverge from the source anyway.

But if we're talking about Seekers we'd just like to see, my own vote is for one based on the unreleased G2 Sandstorm prototype. It's colours are very different than what we already have.
