This fandom, I swear.
People have different likes and dislikes, the fandom as a whole is not a single entity. I'm sure the same people begging for this aren't the ones complaining.

I can see the club slapping a Joe in a wheelchair and calling him Chip Chase. Then theyll gloat how the wheelchair is an original mold like they did with the ape shell.
And people would still buy it.
By the way, no G.I. Joe, no Transformers. G.I. Joe lead to Henshin Cyborg and Microman, which lead to Diaclone, which in turn lead to The Transformers.

I appreciate G.I. Joe, I just don't buy that **** (excluding any Channing Tatum sculpt). And as you pointed out further down (or up from here), there is a decent amount of it… I view this crossover as having a niche market, so I feel like these figures are sort of wasted space/potential
IMO

The Club practically exists to cater to a niche market. Mainstream stuff is for mass retail Hasbro/Takara. We will never see this stuff (by which I mean Old Snake, Marissa, the synthoids, and Serpent O.R.) at mass retail, thus making the Club the only official venue for us to get them from.MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:I view this crossover as having a niche market,

That's cool, so do a couple. I feel like we're passed that now. I also don't view the Club as catering to only obscure fans... it should cater to everybody. Just anything Hasbro won't touch, which is practically everything. I'd rather get G2, BW/M, MW, and RID01 homeges before G.I. Joe. I'm part of the TransFormers Club for TransFormers. If I wanted G.I. Joe then I'd be a fan of that franchise.
Now I don't think it's out of control, but I think we've reached the point where they should move on. I feel comfortable saying most of us don't want a joint convention, crossover movie, or wasting TF slots on G.I. Joe toys

Well, we have tarantulas, but he was the ONLY figure I had even remotely heard of, I seriously don't want to consult with Sabrblade every year, if I'm going to pay as much as they ask for these figures, just to figure out who the hell I'm buying. One of the reasons next years tfss appeals to me (beyond COMBINER)
I agree, I don't really want unused designs, unfinished prototype homages; I want pre-BW, oddball G1, G2 homages, updated micromaster figures, rid, armada Beast machine, energon and cybertron homages.

Boom. Agreed. There should definitely be both, but TFSS3 was ridiculous in its excessive obscurity

Right there with you. I've waited thirty years for Marissa, and I will be damned if I can't get her in delicious action figure form.![]()
After that, gimme Spike, Sparkplug, Carly... hell, Lennox and Epps, too! I want some good human figures, dammit!

Hellscream9999 wrote:I'm not against love-letter deeply obscure stuff, but maybe limit them to 1 or 2 per year, or make them available separately from the tfss; as for cross-overs, I think that they would work best as additional convention exclusives, but offer them at both g.i.joe-con and botcon, or sdcc.
MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:Yeah, 1-2 super obscure figures a year, and crossovers their own thing instead of clogging up the TFSS or club exclusives. Offer them separately. Then go crazy.
This year I didn't know most of the homeges save for Packrat and Tarantulas... IMO, this year has been downright terrible. Would have prefered TMII Cybershark, TransTech Silverbolt, TransMetal Fractyl, the other Car Brothers from RID01, Classics Prime Knock Out and Breakdown... just more recognizable characters updated that Hasbro will never touch. I think Diaclone hits only a small group of fans, which is why nothing sold out this year. There were too many bullsh!t figures IMO

Well, I knew all of the boxed set figures, I have a book I recieved as a child: The unofficial guide to transformers 1980's through 1990's. It is a picture book/ visual guide to G1, G2, and BW; I recognized battletrap, packrat, and knew what pretenders were from that. I knew who stepper was, an asian exclusive, he's had many an update; I read the threads for megatron, he was a 'new' character; as for oilmaster, I thought it was a cool gesture.
The diaclone stuff looked cool and that's all I really need for a purchase. People get too strung up on mythology and homages and what every figure means to the universe; sometimes you just have to stop reading into things and get stuff that looks cool. I didn't care who the waruders were, I still don't know who they are, but that waruder pack looked amazing.
Not calling you out, but a little bit of research can go along way for the boxed set; or just reading the threads, I remember reading a lot of your posts on this years exclusives

That's true, I do know who Megatron is (obviously), Stepper/Ricochet/Whoever, Battletrap, and G2 Starscream. I also bought the Waspinator 4-pack and the fembot because, like you said, they're just bad ass

Not exactly a fembot, but a Diaclone mech with a female pilot called Dia. It's named after a G.I. Joe character like Lift-Ticket is.

Oh; I don't know any diaclone or g.i.joe fiction, as I never cared about it, but that's kinda cool; Is the pilot thing played up in the exclusive comics?
