I know the toys were all borrowed/stolen/riffed on from a bunch of other lines... but that 'bot to gun' thing as messed things up pretty much from the beginning and I still feel it tainting the CW tank bot. I just can't get into him as a tank...
I think the word you are looking for is licensed. As for Megatron, it was a completely different world in the early '80s. People didn't think twice about kids playing with realistic looking guns. Which brings me to my favorite George Carlin bit.

Except that Metroplex's MSRP was $100, so $109 is more than MSRP. Devastator's MSRP is $150, and he's likely to range from that to $200 at various retailers.

Not a specific one, just the window of Summer 2015 for Robot Kingdom.

Ohhh I never had a problem with kids playing with toy guns. I remember the 80's
My comment was that the toy was such rubbish... Gun mode was questionable usefulness and the robot was TERRIBLE. If they had turned one of the jets or tanks into the 'leader' we probably wouldn't have been having so many discussions of size and mass shifting. Things would just be the size they were.
I'm always curious why things were done the way they were... and I can picture the designers looking at Optimus and saying 'Well, we have a lot of cars... Semi's are bigger and more powerful then any of these... He'll be the good guy leader." Devastator will be this massive engine of destruction... because it's construction vehicles. Is anything more durable then these massive solid steel bulletproof vehicles? They're just... HARD CORE.
Megatron? The reasoning seems clouded. He was flimsy, with short arms, crap posability, weird altmode... When sitting in a boardroom and making stuff up, I can see things not looking great when it hits reality... but after 'licensing' all these existing toys... they knew what they were looking at. Soundwave is a cassette player it's true... But he could have just been a giant player with spies that record, but I really trace the massshifting to Megatron's Robot/RobotGun/HumanGun shenanigans.

We're getting a bot off topic already. Maybe a new discussion post as to why this and that got their designations as big kahuna bad guy and the likes. It does make for a good discussion though. Plus.....suspended belief bro...suspended belief.

Think the initial MSRP that Hasbro USA first announced for Titan Metroplex was around $139.99.
Remember some sites advertising they were selling Titan Metroplex at a discount.
Think some USA Retail stores like Toysrus. Might have actually sold Titan Metroplex. For the original first listed MSRP price of $139 or more.

Yes, for me the left foot looks a little small.
Yes, the back isn't the most attractive.
But all of the other proportions, the kick arse head sculpt, and the overall G1 look have me anticipating the release date.
Aside from Long Haul, I dig the bot modes. They are G1 enough for me in terms of looks, and are still a huge step up from the original toys.
No, I'm not saying G1 important for everyone. I'm just saying a solid G1 look is important for me.
I will buy this. And I'll enjoy the hell out of it!!!!

Don't let the naysayers discourage you bro! Get it while it's at SRP and available.

Agreed.
Also buying this as I think it's epic awesome. It's also a fraction of the price those Third party Devastator's toys.

Oh yeah, no worries... I'm open to reading peoples' opinions, but the amount of influence it will have either way won't trump my own preferences.
I think the sheer size of this guy is awesome, but the look itself has me sold.
I LOVE that head sculpt!!!!

Bonecrusher's the one with the green treads.

Blame CW Megs for the working treads. Gives the fans to high an expectation.

I think painting the inside of the treads like the SDCC version is a good compromise; keeps Bonecrusher's legs green on the outside but doesn't look so plain in vehicle mode.

Scale seems pretty good with the masterpiece line!
