We love you too Burn. So aside from complaining, I'm also offering a viable alternative so as to avoid further deviation. Never hurts to try.

I will forever be disappointed that we will most likely never get a decent 3P upgrade kit for this guy.

Well yeah, because I assume both are going for the same G1 look. So both would have a very similar head, no?

Devastator, like most characters in the G1 cartoon, had two character models, the main difference lays in the head:

The visor one "won out" as it was used in the movie.

As opposed to the actual G1 Devastator head:

Well yes, I would assume that neither are trying to imitate the toy (unlike Hercules, which got his head from the toy), they are instead trying to capture the popular character model (hence the one in the film). I just meant that I dont think the look of Titan devastator's is not based or inspired from the animé encore version but instead is based and inspired on the cartoon model, just as that one was.

Although he looks like he just walked in on his son dressed in pony colored body paint, I like the head they are using. Stuff that looks like the movie models is a plus for me.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

That may have been the official Classics Devastator, but the reason I had no problem with getting a third party version (despite my previous statement that if an official version exists before a third party version is made, the official one must take priority) is because that Devastator was only made from five separate figures. My collection is an attempt to recreate G1 with modern toys, and so I couldn't have a team missing a member.

Fortunately, for people with similar sentiments who don't yet own a Devastator and who may like an official version, that problem is soon to be rectified. ;)

And even though I am not getting the Combiner Wars Devastator myself, through the magic of stock photography the Combiner Wars version has replaced Green Giant in my website's Classics Toy Catalogue Project. (If, once it comes out, anyone wants to supply me with personal photographs to replace the stock ones, that'd be awesome.)

I've never understood why so many in the transformers fandom have to take differing opinions so personal. Just because somebody loves a figure you hate, or hates a figure you love, is no reason to get upset.

When CW Devestator was first shown at toy fair, I did a few back flips of joy. After the excitement wore off, and the more I looked over the pictures, the less and less thrilled I was. I now feel that purchasing this set is a waste of money.

On the other hand, the exact opposite has happened with CW Ultra Magnus.

the problem with titan devy is it is a huge investment in space as well as money for something of sub-par quality that doesn't really go with anything else. the worst part is getting this instead of a cw devy made up of deluxe class constructicons which would have been on the same level as other cw combiners. it's a huge failure for the line as a whole since devy is the most popular combiner in history.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm not saying I agree with you, I just don't understand how you can form this opinion just from pictures and absolutely NO reviews.

I'm very much looking forward to this. I'm getting one for myself and one for my 8yr old son. We've both got our collections going on Combiner Wars (his he plays with, mine of course sits on a shelf). I wouldn't make too many opinions about these pics yet though...not only is it so horribly put together that it's amusing, but that empty spot on the back looks like is missing pieces. Looking closely you can see where things fit or peg in. I just think it looks poor right now because not everything was used when they combined it (if you want to call it that). Anyways..Cannot wait for this :)

I am curious about this, what do you think is missing. I get that things are clearly not put together well, like that right arm, but are any pieces missing? Aside from Scrapper's front shovel? I figure his right hand is tucked away in his arm but I dont know if anything will indeed be covering up those open spots on his back. I think those are for the arms to rest in when everything is in vehicle mode.

This. Without the benfit of an actual review? I used the subconscious alibi of "I already have the G1 blocky versions anyway". Even the statement of giving a judgement on a product not yet being released? "Sub par quality?" How'd you arrived at that conclusion anyway?

Then comes the "scale" argument? Let's face it, buttom line to the argument is the price. Space be d@mn! I've got a Fortmax and Tomy Metroplex with no space for the latter. If you can't afford the price of the unit then so be it. Bigger scale means more expensive. Nothing to be ashamed off, just do a "Frozened" on Dev then. I've been forced to do a "Frozened" on a lot of TFs among them Masterpieces.

And the conclusion of "Fail"? Really now............ #-o

So that means that those two holes will remain empty in combined form, right?
