So, Takara stock, maybe reprolabels? Or hasbro and upgrades and reprolabels????

I personally feel that buying Takara's Devastator from a japanese import site pretty much gives you a finished product (thats the option I went for, its easier to deal with and to monitor its increase in value). The other option would be buying a hasbro version for cheap (like 100$) and spending the savings on upgrades.

For me, if I'm going to have one Devastator, I'm going to go big. So, yeah Takara is the way to go. I also picked up the upgrades, so you can judge the colour matching for yourself:





The difference is most evident in the last photo. Honestly, if you're aware of it and are looking close, you're going to notice. But, just having him on the shelf as part of your collection, I still say it's pretty imperceptible.

Also, somewhat torn on the Reprolabel front: with the different paint apps that UW has, not all of the current stickers will be worth it. Maybe they'll make a specific set for Takara's Devy?

That's actually a 3rd party add on kit. Just pop off normal devy head and pop on the prowlastator head.

I also received my P.E. add-on kit for Devastator, and have to say it's quite a bit better than I expected.
The add-on for Mixmaster alone is a huge improvement.
The new hands are also very well done and add a lot, and I was okay with the original ones.
I especially like that the wrists are a bit longer making the arms overall just long enough that they look very proportionate.
This is nice considering the additional shoulder parts move the arms up just slightly.
I really thought I may not use those, thinking they may make the shoulders look too broad, but again they look great.
And the shoulder joints are ratcheted, so they should hold poses really well.

Everything was really easy to put together/on (including the extension for Hook's crane arm, and the purple thigh plates). And the color matches spot-on with the Hasbro version.
I didn't really need/want the extra heads, but those are pretty cool too.

If you are on the fence about getting this set, I highly recommend it.

I also have the add-on set of new forearms and guns, just haven't opened that yet.
Will say that has me a bit tempted to get another set of these guys to keep in individual bot modes...

I heard the upgrades weren't that great. There are issues and with Long Haul a little bit of parts forming. Just get the Takara version unless you really need the cab piece, guns and Prowlstator head.

This custom Yellow G2 Devastator on eBay shows that the mould (with some tweaks) is having itself not show to it's best by virtue of not enough paint I'd say (yes I know it has additional pieces too), but it also makes a potential yellow version look like a rather pleasing idea too.

In a rare turn of events, I happened to have some extra cash, so I decided to splurge on a Devastator. I hemmed and hawed but ultimately decided that since I was spending too much already, that I couldn't justify the extra $100+ for the Takara, particularly with the likelihood it'll be combined most of the time, and instead used that extra money to order some other figures like Sky Lynx. Not like that one will ever show up here, all we have is leftover Maximus limbs.

Got UW Devastator for Christmas and ever since he's had pride of place on my shelf.
Such an awesome figure and I'm so glad I didn't get the Hasbro version.

Cool, but with flaws. I actually just really got things settled, as I had a factory error and one of the guys had a wrong part attached that needed to be replaced.

I really don't think I'd be much happier with Takara. Scrapper, even without elbows, is probably my favorite of the bunch.

I think Mixmaster still looks better turned the old way around in alt mode, even with the dumb tiny cab. Any place sell just the replacement cab? The whole set with all the parts is more money than I'd like to spend (and has some stuff I don't care about).

I'm not sure about your request, but I can agree Scrapper is awesome. He is my second favorite behind Scavenger. They are all pretty fun, and yeah some flaws. But the combined mode is amazing

Y'know I am honestly impressed at how much I like Long Haul. He's a surprisingly flexible big bot, and that's cool. Scrapper is also a really awesome guy, especially with the elbows and guns.

Does anyone else feel like Mixmaster is kind of the weak link? He's too backheavy in bot mode and his mixer is too short to be a tripod for him in most poses.

I'm a big fan of Hook too though I seem to be in the minority and that's ok.

Hook irks me a bit due to his torso and the crane area. He's not bad, but to me he is a weaker one. I love Long Haul too. I cannot stop saying "Beefcake!!!!" When he's in robot mode

Yeah, his waist and hips are the letdown of the whole set for me actually. It is the weakest part.

I hear they're a nightmare on the Hasbro version. I got the Takara version and while they're a little hard to get into place, they stick once they're there. My bigger problem with Bonecrusher is honestly just that his scoop chest sits a little higher on his neck than I'd like, obscuring the lower part of his chin. And that's a minor criticism.

When I break down Devastator, I'm still struck with just how big those guys are. They're just a big chunk group of bruisers.

I'd say Scrapper and Scavenger are my standouts of the group They spend most of their time combined as I find they take up too much room separated, but I do enjoy posing them as a group though.
