Well, ignoring the whole argument/whatever deal, that Jazz is just amazing, never seen something so good.

I gotta go with Sonray, Jin's *painting* cannot match this, these don't even look like toys, AMAZING!

these are nice, but they lack detail imo. the paint app is nice, but it looks a bit like a tarnish effect or something. doesn't look like a custom or repaint, more like a tuneup

People, Sonray has every right to express his opinion (so long as it is not borderline hate speak) on these forums. He could have said that all Jins work is garbage, but he didn't.

He was just pointing out that Jin's toys sell for a lot more when these toys just look like more TLC was put into them. Jin is more of a kitbasher, while this guy is more of a repainter. Both are experts in what they do.

I don't like Sonray's abbrasive comments sometimes, but I have the same problem too. He didn't mean to insult Jin.

Actually, you are wrong. Acrylics suck, car paints own them.
I hate acrylics and i dont care what anyone else says, i think they suck and they have ruined two of my best projects, so i dont care if they work for some, they havnt worked for me and i hate them.

Why are car paints better? Because they dont chip off, and give a better finish. That is a statement and a fact. Also, EVERY time i have used acrylics they have gone wrong or ruined the project. When i have used car paints on the exact same toy after i had to strip all of the acrylic garbage off and used car paint not only did i get a better finish but the paint never chipped off, what does that tell you?

Your statement about his work being better than mine or yours isnt a fact either, its a misguided opinion. Like i said, stop comparing everything that everyone does to his work.

Thank you, and nor have i ever insulted jin or bashed his work in this thread. Like i said before its always other people that derail threads whenever i happen to say that i dont think Jin's work is all that, or that someone elses work is better than his. GOD FORBID someone thinks other peoples deserving work is better than Jins once in a while!

People cant understand or accept this for some mind boggling reason and then im the one who ends up getting flamed or called "jealous" which is the biggest crock of **** i have ever heard.

Personally, I think Sonray's and Jin's work are about the same high standard. They have different styles, but are both excellent.

However, Alan's work blows them clean out of the water. Opinon? Fact? Who cares? We are here on this thread to marvel at the awesomeness of those repaints. Everyone, click on page 1 and drool on...

He wasnt being flamed, never has been never will be. Try to distinguish between someone having an opinion, and someone flaming before you come to such conclusions next time.

Also, are you insane? A "tune up"?? These look like REAL robots, how can you say they lack detail?

Peh...i guess nothing anybody does, regardless of how awesome it may be, will ever satisfy half of you people unless the words "Jin Saotome" are attached to the project. Thats the vibe i have been getting from everyone not just in this thread but nearly every other custom posted here. Very sad.

I 100% agree with you on that one! And to answer your question, its a fact! :P

These are just insanely good, and so what if they arent new characters or have new pieces from other toys stuck onto them? They look like REAL ROBOTS and not like toys anymore!

on a side note, I don't see much creativity, or intuition with Alan's work. The paint app is top notch, but, that's only a result of the highest quality paint and professional paint app. Personally, I've seen better on these very boards...daily. Trust me, anyone with that equipment can spray an even layer of paint.

What I look for is figures showing some sort of abstract creativity. Making hotrod out of BB, or Unicron out of a crappy lego toy, that's what Kitbashing and customs are about.

Dang, I thought I had that under control.

As for kitbashing, yes, your right. It is about adding new bits, scratchbuilding. Customising, however, can be anything to make a figure different than factory sent. If that is creating a new thing from scratch, or just repainting something into a new character (or an existing character), then it's all good. All customising.

Frezny, your just sounding like an elitist jerk now.

It doesn't matter if its a new character or not. It doesn't matter if its been kitbashed or not, its still creative and still a custom piece.

And no, not ANYONE can take an airbrush and spray an even layer of paint. You obviously dont know how to use an airbrush if thats what you think.

These repaints have had multiple layers of prep work and paint to get them looking like this. This isn't just a bit of acrylic paint dipped onto a brush and then slapped onto a slightly modified-with parts from other toys-to form a partsformer, this is professional repainting at its finest.

you know. if you really want to debate this with me sonray, send me messages to my gmail account. I can't say what I want on these boards without mods banning me anymore.

where is creativity in painting a silver robot...silver?

airbrushing is cake. it's a hella lot easier airbrushing than to paint on a gradient. When I saw the TF movie, none of them looked airbrushed to me....

Riiight, keep on thinking that airbrushing is easy, it does wonders for your professional reputation. 8-|

(by the by its not silver, its Yellow. Actual Camaro car paint yellow to be precise, who else goes to that much effort huh?)

Speaking to you is like talking to a wall, so why would i bother contacting you by email?

Anyway lets quit with the thread hijack.

I've airbrushed for about 15+ years now, it's simple stuff. Jazz = Silver, I should've clarified better. :(

Your continuous posts and nonsense really help me see why nobody posts on these boards but the same 8 people.

These customs are amazing! I have to agree with Sonray on this one. The car paint that they've utilized on these formers has added an extra layer of detail to the figures to make them look, not only completely smooth and without bubbling or flaws, but none of them look like they are made of plastic. Did you see the detail they put into 76 BB's face? It's amazing how finely worked on these are. I'm sorry but these = way better than Jin's. No offence to JIn of course I just think that these customs turned alot better. Their Ultimate BB repaint makes me want to buy it!

Common sense, better facts and experience and a willing-ness to share techniques and advice with others to create a nice and friendly community amongst customizers make these boards painful to visit?

Oh well, guess you are the only one then, since we're all fine (all more than 8 of us) and we dont try to insult a large number of people/community like you just have.

And you wonder why you have trouble with the mods...

Like i said, talking to you is like talking to a brick wall, you are too up your own exhaust pipe to listen to anyone else or take anything that somebody else has to say seriously, or except that you are wrong on something. Its people like YOU who really put the stink on enjoying these forums.

Maybe if you stopped acting like such an elitist, trolling, big-talking-has no proof to back himself up-jerk all the time this place would be much brighter.

BTW well done on making yourself look like such an ass in front of a well respected and well known professional such as Alan! Your professional reputation around these boards continues to grow.

Im done with you now, respond with as many trolling and flaming posts as you like, i wont dignify them with a response anymore. Ive said my piece and im done hijacking Alan's thread.
