That first base in the war easy but the second base was hard!
You would think my first team power level of 1481 would be sufficient enough to defeat them but I guess not. I probably need to level up my base and ship. Maybe in next war I can get farther.

Just a little clarification on the war system and earning points.
You have three attempts to attack each base, and the fewer attempts the better. There is a maximum of points you can earn from beating the base on the first try, and each attempt beyond the first deducts a set amount of points, dependent on the position of the base (ie 1st-5th), but these are not added to your total and the team total until you actually beat the base, meaning that if you lose once and give up, you have earned no points for that base. The game developers were nice enough to set up a system where it's better to try and fail than to not try at all.
Each base is worth progressively more points, and you lose 1/3 of each base's maximum points each successive attempt like so.
Beat on 1st attempt/2nd attempts/3rd Attempt
Base 1: 15/10/5
Base 2: 30/20/10
Base 3: 45/30/15
Base 4: 60/40/20
Base 5: 75/50/25
So if you are Burn and you beat each base on the first attempt, you will earn 15+30+45+60+75=225 points for that war. This is the maximum possible war points a single player can earn. If, hypothetically, you used all three attempts on each base but still beat them (realistically I don't see this happening but let's pretend) you would earn 5+10+15+20+25=75 points for your team. It is not as many as you could have earned with a stronger team/better strategy/other factors, certainly, but it is better than if you had looked at base 5, decided it was too hard, and not even tried, in which case you would have earned only 5+10+15+20=50 points.
Let's look at a more realistic scenario. Suppose, like in the current war, base 1 is level 9, and base 2 is level 11. If you look at base 1 and decide you can't take it, you have earned 0 points. If you fight base 1, lose 1 time, and don't try again, you have earned 0 points. HOWEVER. If you fight base 1, lose the first attempt, and win the second attempt, you have earned 10 points. Even if you can't beat the second base at all, at least you earned 10 points for the alliance, and we appreciate that. Due to our high league standing and numerous lower level players, we know that most of you (and even me) won't be able to take more than the first base, if you can even take it at all. If we were a meaner alliance, we would kick people who couldn't earn many or any points, and recruit stronger players. But instead, we want to let our members grow stronger so that we have a team of strong players built from the ground up, with a sense of community and belonging befitting an alliance for a fansite.

I was looking at the Alliance leaderboard yesterday.

We are really at the cusp of being a fairly tough alliance. Though we aren't high enough levels to be in the top 10 any time soon, we can concivably make it it the top 50 eventually.

Most of the alliances above us require at least a level 10 base, we're the first that really doesn't. And we won't as far as I know. I wouldn't want to. But we do need to be a team and a family like Bot said. That way we can scare the bejeebies out of Bots in war

One more thing to add, for those who feel they can't contribute because the bases we face are too powerful, that's okay. We know we shouldn't be in Gold League. Hell, just a few weeks ago during one of our discussions CF and I agreed we didn't even belong in Silver League, yet we've done really well in it! Too well because now we keep getting put into Gold League!

But if you can't get points in Alliance Wars, that's fine. You can still contribute with the weekend events, even if you only score a few hundred points, you get in there and reap that double xp for yourself and get stronger!

Strafe (Air)

Swooping from the sky to rain ballistic missiles down on hapless Decepticons is Strafe's forte, and he goes about these aerial dive bombing raids with an unwholesome glee, delighting in the fear and confusion he sows on the battlefield.

But appearances can be deceptive and while Strafe in Dinobot form assumes the predatory persona of the creature he was modelled on, as a bot he tends to be affable and good-natured.

Fire Mission - Set out to damage targets in an area, striking them up to 18 times.

Scourge (Air)

Built to seek and destroy, and little else, Scourge is as fearsome a hunter as they come, with highly advanced sensory and scanning equipment that can pinpoint a pebble in an asteroid storm.

And with his drone-like Sweeps he can cover a whole lot of space (and even time).
Once he gets you locked in his sights, that's pretty much 'hasta la vista, baby'.

With Scourge it really is, you can run... but you can't hide.

I mean I figured you were a Cyclomust fan, Sid, but ... oh my! :p

Well I have a bromance/fanaticism obsession/crush with Megatron, so to see someone else crush on Cyclonus hardcore is not surprising for me.

Okay, so I sent off to support about the matching for alliances during wars being so completely unbalanced.

This is how it is supposed to be. Just pairing the first available alliances I'm the league. (I seriously thought it was broken).

But the rep said he'd pass along any suggestions we might have, so I gave him Dizz's suggestion to match us by level in the league, like tier 1 with another 1 or a 2, as well as suggesting to add more levels per league to give us extra time.


I did ask to explain how the bases were chosen during the war, I know we pretty much know, but he did clarify.

Interestingly, I figured they chose by base level, but it's chosen by defensive power, which is why we've seen a level 10 base pop up first then a level 9 base later. Because the lower level base has upgraded more.

I’ve passed along these suggestions to our developers. Also, I’ll be happy to tell you how bases are determined in alliance wars. Basically, you’ll see the following:

1 “Easy” player
1 “Medium” player
2 “Hard” players
1 Commander

The easy, medium and hard players are determined by their defensive power.
