Vortex a little less ugly and out of character.

I would by this from Hasbro as they have it. Large improvement over PPC.

I'd hope the Shockwave we get is a little closer to the game model, but that one isn't terrible. Love that Vortex recolour. It is a nice looking mold that I'd probably buy in a few different colour schemes.

This is NOT G1! Vortex can be whatever color he wants. Isn't his altmode enough? He's not G1 Vortex, so what does it matter?

I'm not put off by the fact that he's not G1-coloured.

I'm put off by the fact that those colours are ugly and gel badly with the rest of the team.

That's fine, and I somewhat agree. My post was mainly in response to all the Geewhining about his colors. ;)

Three Combaticons are now a warm yellowish color, leaving the cool green Brawl looking out of place (and oddly reminiscent of RotF Long Haul). Vortex being a cool blue would have balanced the limbs.
Four of the Combaticons have purple, which serves as a nice little way to uniform the team... except for Vortex, who is once again looking off.

I personally don't care for G1 accuracy, but red-and-yellow Vortex is really bugging me. May have to repaint him myself.

Does it really look so bad in this:

If anything, the bluish color from Onslaught balances out Brawl's green. And Vortex's elbow and wrist joints appear to be purple.

Vortex looks much better in the art, though he does have less red and more purple than the toy.

I originally heard the term from a guy on YouTube, who used it to refer to an extreme level of Geewunners as "Geewhiners".

I think it's the RED on the gold that looks the worst to me. I hope they simply put it out twice.... I'll buy it again if they do it in gray. This looks too blingy.

AAAAND vortex in gray/blue. Great repaint, and better choice for Vortex, IMHO.

I do like G1's style, but I'm not opposed to things being different. It's the whining about GeeWhining that gets me as much, if not more than people being unable to accept new stuff. So now, I'm whining, about people whining about people whining. Don't you guys just hate that?

What I hate is MIXING the two. I'm okay with a CRAZY wild new take on Bruticus or whatever. But making something 4/5 G1 and then throwing a curve on one limb rubs me wrong.

It's all or nothing Hasbro. Homage G1, or do something fresh. No mixing the two up.

ha, true.

I'd like a repaint in the style of the all matching camo Walmart exclusive Ruination. Not in those exact colours maybe, as it is a bit bland, but maybe a Cybertonian camo, or something similar to the Prime and BB repaints in the Rage Over Cybertron pack, translucent plastic with an Energon-cells type pattern over the main uniform colours.

Seriously, with as many different versions of Bruticus as there has been, we could see some cool repaints here, and of course, people could end up mixing and matching limbs from each.

I DOES look great — I was just laughing about the PHRASE Cybertronian Camo.

Seriously, your ideas would be fantastic... and I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is. I'd buy a LOAD of Bruticus repaints.

Really, this IS a really nice uniform paint job. Might even be my favorite of the six, especially combined.

Even if they wanted to keep them all in the deluxe scale there is no reason they couldn't have used smaller deluxe for Brawl, Blastoff, Swindle and Vortex while using a larger scale deluxe for Onslaught.
Good example would be Classics Deluxe Sideswipe/Sunstreaker/Red Alert mold compared to Classics Deluxe Optimus Prime G1 or G2 Laser Prime. I think that would have gone a long way in helping the combined form.

Like everyone else seems to agree, the connection areas are hideously un hidden! It does seem to be the PCC connectors. Definitely should have stuck with the Energon combiner sockets. If nothing else it would forced them to beef up the connection areas.
I agree that a 3rd party Onslaught in a Voyager size could save this.
