That's ridiculous. The differences between G1 and WFC are less than contradictions found in the actual cartoon. The whole Aligned Continuity, no matter what Hasbro says simply does not make sense.

Don't blame me, blame the games studio, which chose to use "The Humbling River" for the trailer in the first place, though for the record I think it's one of the more brilliant songs of the last decade; it does take a degree of maturity to appreciate its message.

It wasn't synthetic in WFC, it was being stored in a huge facility and rare. In Prime it was revealed to be the blood of Unicron. There's even an entire episode in Prime that retells the basic story of WFC.

And this they are doing this with the combaticons, are we getting the dinobots? (not as a combiner, but to fill out cases i could see 4 combaticons, 4 dinobots, and grimlock/onslaught as voyager sized)

Random thoughts:
No reason this shouldn't be 5 deluxes that combine. Sounds like the doubters want it to be 1 deluxe and 4 cyberverse/scout class. That'd be so wimpy. This a new figure and doesn't need any constraints.

This news could only be trumped by an announcement of a new MP Jetfire and/or Shockwave. I am happy for the FOC shockie though. Want. A good all new G1 style Arcee from hasbro would make for exciting news as well.

If the combaticons look like they'll be a superb*&*% to find I'm just gonna pre-order from BBTS. (Or mayyyybe TRU or HTS.com) Sick of the bs. And I won't play the easy to find 4, but impossible to find the 5th game as Nub mentioned. Please don't do that to us Hasbro. (let's not give em any ideas though!) Come on Toy Fair pics!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I played through Chapter 1 just yesterday. It was definitely suggested that Dark Energon is made, not found.

Not to mention that WFC ends with Cybertron being corrupted by Dark Energon, which is not mentioned at all in Prime.

And if I am mistaken as to what episode you referring, that was retelling the story of Exodus, not WFC. Despite what people insist, the two stories are completely incompatible.

OK, you're right, the station was able to create dark energon. I forgot about that, but I'm also sure that it mentioned that the dark energon the station made was a copy or reproduction of the original.
The details given in that episode still match up with WFC though.

But if you insist on Prime having to reference everything the exact same as the way it was done in WFC, then please point out to me where the G1 cartoon, bios, comics and story books mention the following:

• Dark Energon
• Omega Supreme being the key to the core of Cybertron
• The core of Cybertron giving Optimus Prime the Matrix
• Trypticon being a space station during the great war
• The transformers combining with turrets
• Every Transformer having the ability to turn their arms into weapons
• The Aerialbots existing during the Great War

Hasbro is as good at keeping the disparate elements of the "Aligned" "continuity" aligned as they are at ensuring even distribution of their products, and probably for a similar reason: we care much more about this set of issues than they do.

Collective, corporate decision making often results in compromise decisions that are deemed "good enough" without costing too much, and the discontinuities within Aligned are a perfect example.

Ultimately, it's up to each one of us to decide how we wish to view the toys we purchase, and it's silly to spend too much time arguing that any particular way of viewing them is "correct" or "incorrect," including "because Hasbro says so."

(Then again, humans obviously have this tendency, or else we wouldn't have 5487 flavors of Christianity or the entire discipline of philosophy.)

I will say that it's fairly easy to tell {from an archetypal perspective) that Aaron Archer much more of a product designer and manager than a writer by how the elements of Aligned fit together. At least he cares at all.

Combiner? I just peed a little...

AH! War Within Brawl also hard the twin canons as his primary weapons, instead of the single barrel turret

1. Wasn't Dark Energon just to give an actual physical reason to why there was no Energon on Cybertron? Primus/Cybertron's core said he was rebooting Cybertron, which is why they had to find Energon from elsewhere.
2. I don't see why that makes it incompatible, they just gave Omega some more importance and a reason to be in the game.
3. Yes, that doesn't fit very cleanly, I admit, but G1 made changes all the time, the core may have had it because Primus didn't think Sentinel/Zeta was worthy of it, because of his corruption.
4. I don't see why that is a stretch? Why can't Trypticon have a space station Cybertronian alt mode?
5-6. They're aesthetic things more than anything, inspired by the movies.
7. Yeah, I admit that doesn't work.

I'm not saying WFC fits perfectly, but I think it really wasn't made to be slapped down as a prequel to Prime, despite what Hasbro says about this silly aligned continuity. I really think it was meant to be either its own continuity or just a story that they wanted to be in G1 continuity, but still use popular characters, even if it created continuity errors.

Exodus fits Prime far better, but WFC and Exodus are completely different stories.
