Well at least you will be getting a version of the mold (it's really good in hand, cw has brought the standard up)

Well, I did do this once upon a time, and alas it was about as successful as I suspected it would be. (Heck, more successful then I thought, as even if I didn't make the goal, I did at least have a few supporters!) If you want to do something similar on my behalf, I won't look a gift Alpha Bravo in the mouth.

Tis true. I just don't think missiles on a rescue helicopter really fits Robots in Disguise. It more says IMA GONNA MURDER YOU. Just a little tidbit of information, rescue Blackhawk helicopters used by the US Army are completely unarmed. I do think they still could have made landing struts that could somewhat conceal the arms. Of course, this all comes unglued when you put the double gatling cannon combiner kibble gun on. One added benefit to him having different arms is that he would be better differentiated from Alpha Bravo. All of the other mold reuses so far have that benefit (Skydive to Air Raid, Offroad to Air Raid, Dead End to Streetwise). It also makes the eventual reuse of this mold to make Vortex less glaring, since the missile launchers definitely make sense there.
Regardless, I am sure a 3P designer will make alternate arms for Blades, so I will just get those should they come out. I really love the Alpha Bravo mold in the first place, so having two with only a different head isn't a dealbreaker for me.

Yes, but he is a murderous psychopath stuck with a rescue vehicle alt mode, not a murderous psychopath stuck with a murderous psychopath alt mode. It becomes a lot less ironic when he doesn't have a regular rescue vehicle alt mode.

I wouldn't put it past him especially now that megs is his boss, he may of felt the need to give his alt mode a tweak (though he's going from a ship ran by megatron to a planet run by starscream...ggotta love that)

This armed up Blades' alt mode is quite a point of contention, it almost makes me think we should "news post" his bio to remind everyone that he's a kill crazy nut barSabrblade wrote:Who says Blades himself didn't have those missiles put on his altmode?Crosscheck wrote:Yes, but he is a murderous psychopath stuck with a rescue vehicle alt mode, not a murderous psychopath stuck with a murderous psychopath alt mode. However unlikely, I feel like the most logical extension of the Combiner Wars theme and toy line would be the re-imagination and deluxe-scale release of a new Landcross.

I prefer the missiles on Blades. Yeah, there's irony in him being such a psychopath and stuck in a rescue alt mode, but I also think it's in character for him to stick missiles on there anyway.
Oh and if anybody hasn't seen this yet, here's my version of putting Blackjack on Menasor.

No modding required, and it's easy to do. Here's the guide if you want to try it out.

What are the odds HasTak will repaint Motormaster as Unicron? Seing as we're getting a "Galvatronus", and considering Menasor's head-horns and chest-hole thing being similar to the Big U, I almost hope they do.

That's a fun thought but not one I can see happening. We haven't had a new unicorn toy since Cybertron (okay Japan had Gaia Unicron but that never got released here) so I think the next one we get would be titan sized for maximum effect.

I took silverbolt straight out the box combined him with the other three I have and that's how they are. I haven't been bending them myself. I wondered if anyone else had this issue straight out of the box.

that is a crappy dollar store robot jammed in a Silverbolt box. I have another version of that same crappy robot I bought out of boredom at a dollar store, like 9 years ago. Since that is your first post, I can't tell if you're genuinely confused or trying to make a joke...
If you're confused, well then: That isn't a Silverbolt. Looks like you've come across a case of some arsehole who bought Silverbolt, took the toy out, replaced it with a crap toy they already had and didn't want, and returned it to the store. Thus, they acquire a free Silverbolt at the expense of either the store or whichever poor sap buys it thinking they're getting Silverbolt and not knowing better. (Condolences if that poor sap was you.)
If it was you just trying to make a joke (I'm being charitable and not saying, "trying to troll us") then I fear that, in my opinion at least, it wasn't terribly funny. Especially as a way of introducing yourself. But anyway, welcome! Please, do stay and hopefully contribute something more meaningful to the community!

When I first saw Alpha Bravo my reaction was, "We're at least going to get a Defensor or a better Bruticus." He was obviously made so HasTak can do what they seem to like doing best, sell us the same toy over and over again with a different head and paint job. At the time AB seemed to be obviously designed to be Blades or Vortex and then re-done to cut costs/corners on Superion.
Yeah, I got him because I had to have all of the Superion parts. and now I'm miffed because I hear rumors that Hasbro is going to release Slingshot and Wildrider but I'm not sure if this has been confirmed yet.
I personally am a man of limited financial resources and really try to avoid buying the same mold twice. There are exceptions of course, ie. the latest Hoist and Trailbreaker (or whatever he's called) and of course Springer and Sandstorm but, in general I'm collecting by mold. So, I definitely skipped CW OP for Motoraster.
If they do release Slingshot I'll be getting him for G1 accuracy. I'll just be miffed because I will be getting Blades. I knew right away when they announced CW I'd get stuck buying a few repaint/remolds but if Slingshot comes out AB is pretty much a waste of money to me.
I knew when they announced CW I'd get stuck with a few remold/repaints but AB is just a kick in the nads if Slingshot comes out. That being said, having him in hand, I can't wait to get Blades as he was my favorite Protectobot because for what it's worth I really do like the toy and if Blades weren't coming out, I'd definitely say get him. But, we are getting a Blades.
Now, I see a lot of you saying you are going Takara and it's always cheaper to go that route. Now maybe that's true for you Make It Rain Big Ballers but I have to ask, what are you folks paying for shipping. The only reason I don't go Takara is because I'm lucky to have more that about $100 at a time to spend so I'm never in the position to spend enough for most Free shipping with $xxx purchase. The only reason Takara is more expensive is because you have to basically double the price of a figure to have it sent to the US. Then customs can be a jerk and decide to keep it for as long as they want to. That's why Takara toys are so expensive when you buy from US sellers. They had to pay to get it here and you're just having the luxury of know you'll get it within a fairly reasonable amount of time.
I've been lucky enough to get a few Takara toy on clearance and that's the only reason I have them. (Except I did get all Arms Micron crazy and bought a few of them. Like the Gravity Bowgun set but, I even got a decent price on it from ToyArena. The only thing I've ever gotten from them.)
Anyway, I just wanted to put my $.02 in on AB as CW is where most my money is going this year as far as TFs go. And I would seriously love to hear more about how buying Takara is cheaper. Any tips besides the obvious "buy in bulk to get the free shipping", I would love to hear.
Quick side note: Loving Matt Bookers fix to Menasor. Thanks for sharing.
Oh and last thing, I was a few post back a discussion about flame rettardant. When I was growing up (and maybe it's still the same now), all of the cheap plastic costumes with the cheap masks were all advertised as Flame Rettardant. (Had to mispell due to the censoring you were discussing) It, to my knowledge, is an accepted industry term. That being said, we could fill a warehouse with what I don't know.
Thanks for reading, replying, liking, hating or whatever. Looking forward to your thoughts and input.

No problem! Glad you're enjoying it.

And I feel the same way about Alpha Bravo. At least for now, I'm skipping the Aerialbots, and one of the things that's helping me do that is because they're sold out in local stores Blades is one of my favorite TF characters, and I'd rather not have Alpha Bravo making the mold feel less fresh.

Re: Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Discussion Thread
I just put Dragstrip and Skydive on as legs to stand up Superion for the first time and A) I had too much fun giving him arms for legs and B) I've decided to just buy the limbs I want and like and just have it be all Scramble City up in this bizitch. I have Metroplex so let's have some fun and exchange some limbs. Screw what team has to be with what robot and mix and match a while.
I still don't want Alpha Bravo. I may still buy all of a given Gestalt and display it as such, but I am freeing myself from the silly motion that I have to have them in only one way. If a Slingshot comes out from Hasbro I will get it. If not, maybe someone else with look good substituted in. But not Alpha Bravo. I just don't like his colors. The toy does look great as Blades though.
