Does anybody actually want a Soundwave from the Optimus mold? I've seen lots of people saying they think it will happen but no real opinions on that.

I want it since it could be interesting to see what they do with the Cassettes. I get it's not a traditional Soundwave, but I'm totally interested.

Is that just speculation on your part? Because, even though this is just speculation too, I thought it was pretty much accepted that Hot Spot would be remolded into Onslaught?

Speaking for myself personally, I don't think I can improve upon the Soundwave I currently use with my Classics style collection.




That being said, I know it is a Soundwave not a lot of people have or can get... So if Hasbro can make a new one, and make it good, then awesome. I don't know if that can be done from the Motormaster / Optimus mold... Maybe? I hear he looks a bit like that in the comics these days, but since I don't read them, I wouldn't know.

Here here! SW is a comm officer. So it's kind of hard wired into my brain he should transform into a communication device.

As a commnuncation vehicle, he'd probably be bristling with a radr dish or antenna.........

As much as I would like a new mold for Onslaught, I think we will get a retool of Hot Spot. Hot Spot has been traditionally the type of firetruck that we see in the US, similar to the alt mode of the GDO Hot Spot and the original G1 HotSpot. The fact that they changed its traditional alt mode to this different more elongated firetruck, really gives me the impression that it will be retooled to Onslaught, otherwise why wouldn't they just stick with the traditional alt-mode. Again I hope I am wrong and Onslaught gets a new mold.

Ha! You know, it still makes me laugh when I see it. If you look at some of the Staff Pics from Botcons past, you'll see most of the staff at the time doing a D-bag neck. Can't wait to see them all in a few weeks!

Personally, I love all the old Legends figures. They had a certain something that made them endearing.

HFTD Seaspray was bad ass too. He looks like a BAMF in my Classics area right along side Ultra Powerglide and RTS Windchager.

No argument from me there. I'd not mind a Car Robots / RID Optimus out of this, and hopefully not as some exclusive I'll never get! Still, Hasbro likes milking these Combiner Wars molds for all they're worth. (And that's not a complaint, they may be milking them, but for once they're milking them right!) And it is very easy to see Onslaught in that Hot Spot.

So, when stretching molds as far as possible, which would make more sense for Hasbro to do? Onslaught and Soundwave both from pre-existing molds? (Hot Spot and Motormaster/Prime, respectively?) Or a brand new mold for Soundwave and Onslaught?

Of course, all just speculation on both our parts. We'll find out soon, hopefully, which of us (if either of us) is right.

As much as I would like a new mold for Onslaught, I think we will get a retool of Hot Spot. Wait a sec, Hotspot has traditionally been the type of firetruck we DO NOT see in the US. Specifically, he has always been a Japanese firetruck with a flatter tail end section and a higher cab area. This is very different from us firetrucks which are more even all throughout. The only hotspot based on the american design was the GDO one but that was just a repaint of Inferno.

I want it since it could be interesting to see what they do with the Cassettes. I get it's not a traditional Soundwave, but I'm totally interested.

I'd like to see how he looks as I don't care for the combined mode and I'm more interested in an earth form voyager Soundwave. Combination ability is just a bonus to me as we don't know if we'll get cassettecon limbs (not looking good right now).

If this is the case then I hope the hips look right. Hot Spot isn't a perfect like Silverbolt but he gets away with high hips because of the bulk. If you are correct and we get a new Soundwave/Onslaught I hope they hit a home run with it.

As for Hot Spot/RID Optimus Prime, we get a new OP every year now so I think our chances are looking good for the mold to get this perfect reuse, especially if we get a new mold for Onslaught. And I don't think RID OP will be an exclusive in this situation.

I dunno where this whole Soundwave as Onslaught thing has come from? but I can see why you may think that.....coz remember the FOC Bruticus....& that Onslaught...who wasn't a million miles away from FOC Soundwave....by design(granted that they don't look like each other! nor did they use the same mold.....obviously! but they were around about the same or similar size & shape). but I still say(as many others have done, even Optibotimus in his review of him) that Hot Spot will be retooled as Onslaught, but HEY...who knows what route Hasbro will take with Onslaught? we'll just have to wait & see
