Anyone asking for remakes is an idiot. What they should be asking for is reissues.o.supreme wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I know what's gonna happen. People get rid of their CW/UW/etc. combiner now, and in a few years, people will start begging Hasbro for new versions of the combiners all over again.
I've already seen people asking for new ones on other sites, and yes it's painful to read. I get not wanting to pay $300-$400 for some UW sets, but remaking them all over again is too soon. I honestly thought it would never happen, and am glad to have them all, I still want unreleased characters using the same system. It's not perfect, but it is nice for building an army of combiners.
I'm still kinda hoping for whatever nebulous plans for what follows Kingdom to get pushed back a year to make way for Combiner Wars reissues, because the prices for the limbs on eBay are bats***.

Either way, it sounds like within a year or so, the secondary market may be flooded with people selling off their CW/TR/PotP, so this may drive the price down slightly.
I get it for those who are selling CW toys who were not originally combiners, because they have had better representations in WFC, but selling them all in hopes of official "better" combiners is a little presumptuous.
Off on a Tangent, if TT Raiden MP Project ever comes to fruition, I was initially disappointed because honestly I'd rather have CHUG than Masterpiece Trainbots. However, if they both scale the same, I may go for it, even at the hefty price tag.

I don't have the money to spare right now, sadly.Rodimus Prime wrote:Easy, Zelda. Just because other people want different things than you doesn't make them idiots. Sorry for throwing the word "idiots" around like that.. It's just, it was sounding like people are asking for remakes because it doesn't occur that just rereleasing the existing toys is an option.

I reckon that we should look to UW Devy for what we might get with Raiden though I think its coming up to a year at least since his announcement (which was more then Armarda Prime ever got), so hopefully its something that they're working on that might be mp 53

At least for the Optimus Maximus and Sky Reign teams, and other characters who originally weren't combiners like Cyclonus and Sky Lynx with their new representations coming up. Tho, there remains an appeal of a "before-and-after" setting...
If we're talking reissues, have them complete some of the "random" combiners like they did with Elita-1 already. At least for Cyclonus. True, the UW Grand Galvatron looks like a good set, but Starscream and Roller irk me a bit.

Though I do admit the Volcanicus and Abominus reissues are throwing me for a bit of a loop... I don't want to get them, but I may end up doing so. There are things I like about each (PotP & TT Selects), and unfortunately, there is no way to amalgamate them to make a best "overall" combiner like you could with some of the others... I'll just have to decide what's most important to me and stick with it. As odd as it is, since I found room for 3 Scattershots across 2 Computrons, and a Modulus (in the works), The PotP & TT Selects while different, are NOT different enough for me to designate them as separate characters.

Inferno is missing one limb, If I can get that all will be balanced.

Is the Inferno combiner the only one that is missing a limb? How many limbs do you yet need to complete combiners?

I do have Prime but no limbs for him, and I have been considering picking up Cyclonus. But have no idea what limbs to try to give him.
Other than that my only other interest would be Grimlock and Swoop from Volcanicus. Not sure I'm interested enough to pick up the entire set.

The Silverbolt mold (of which Cyclonus is a redeco) is probably the best of all the torsos. When I got mine, he represented IDW's Cyclonus in my collection, so I gave him limbs that were also characters on the Lost Light.Overcracker wrote:I have been considering picking up Cyclonus. My combiners obsessed friend fixed that issue almost since day one. Most of his combiners are customs and original characters made by me. Repainting, heavy or light mods, Reprolabels, the whole shebang. All teams follow a theme. Appart the 3 official Fembot combiners, he have at least 20 original teams. So yeah. When customizing is involved, there is no limits.

kind of in the background, but you can see my Cyclonus combiner, named Lost Lightatron, complete with lost light crewmember limbs.
I'll need to post pictures of my random combiners once my last one is finished, thanks to Rodimus Prime here by chance. Great seller, feel free to make deals with him in confidence!

It's not a hard and fast rule either way, but I like having a 6th member, so I tried to give one to every team I have, and have been successful (to varying degrees) so far.
I was thinking of giving Titans Return Gnaw to God Neptune when he eventually arrives. What do you all think? Has anyone created a fan mode of him as a weapon or accessory? (I dont have one yet but can obtain one easily enough).

Truthfully, only Blackjack for Motormaster as he mirrors his Scout Car.

In my mind I've paired him with PotP Dreadwind and Blackwing, and CW Offroad, kind of mirroring the UW one. Not using Jet Blast Off, too many jets in that Combiner, but don't know who else is available

Funny enough, Red Swoop is with Inferno currently, but he will eventually go to Optimus Maximus (it's random, but it fills a hole), otherwise Inferno would be complte , and Op Max is missing a limb either way.
My Modulus will be as the instructions intended. So I have the single release CW Scattershot, SG Starscream, and Rook. I hope to eventually add Medix, and either G2 or Marvel Comic Ratchet to complete him (pipe dream I know...)
Oddly enough I have seen some people on other sites (which may be a less expensive option), actually obtain loose CW First Aid, strip the paint, then add the custom stickers and paint themselves to complete some of the ratchets (not sure how they get the heads?), which actually might be cheaper than if they actually ever show up on eBay, sadly I'm just nto that talented. Plus I'm not sure if anyone has reproduction stickers of the Botcon ratchet sets. I see them (the stickers) on eBay occasionally, but they are one offs, and don't look to be of high quality.

I do yes. Powerglide, Blackjack, Groove, Shockwave, Scrounge/Cybaxx, and Rust Dust all count for me.
Also counting are targetmaster Firedrive for Ricochet for Lost Lightatron, that arms micron for Liokaiser, the micromaster dark Saber (the first wave sword one) for Megascream, and Dazzlestrike with Orthia.
Rodimus went to be with Star Convoy, leaving Op Max in his comics configuration.
I never got Wreck Gar, not that he could work with Sky Reign anyway.
Abominus, Volcanicus, and Infernocus are all simple 5 member teams, though Infernocus would add Override if I could get her.
My soon to be complete Battle Core Maximus will also be a 5 member team with a Smashdown accompanying them.
I think I got all my teams mentioned there? Maybe?

Powerglide - Yes
Blackjack - Yes
Legends Groove - Yes (I him call Ponch since I also use Deluxe groove, as a nod to CHiPs)
Rust Dust - Yes
Whatever the blue bird thing from Liokaiser is called - yes
Legends Wreck-Gar - Yes (I call him Jester and gave him to Megatronia, he is their toady, and bra)
Legends Shockwave - Sort Of? Not really? He isn't a member of the Combaticons, just their weapon and disappears when they are not combined. Siege Shocky is my actual Shocky, so the Legends figure doesn't even get used as a figure/character, just a gun.
Those are the only smaller (Legends or below) 6th members that I use.
Well, I guess Slash should also count, she is a dinobot, but doesn't combine or become a weapon for Volcanicus.

Now, I need to complete my Computron. I have Betatron and Lightspeed, but I need the other 3 limbs. Any ideas on who would be the best substitutions for the actual members? The official Technobots are the only combiner group I never got. The only reason I picked up Lightspeed is because for some reason I love that mold. So much so that I got both versions of Prowl and Streetwise, as well as Smokescreen and Blue Streak. I'm trying hard to convince myself to plunk down 2 bills for BotCon Unit-3 on eBay, but I just can't do it.

1. As a play on his comprising of the Magnificent Six, simply "Magnificence".
2. What is hinted to have been Hasbro's official name for the Inferno combiner had they actually released him in Combiner Wars (either by Hasbro themselves or by Fun Pub): "Firestormer" (which would have comprised of Inferno, Ratchet, Bluestreak, Hoist, and Sideswipe).
3. A name that another user elsewhere is using for their own Inferno combiner, and which is both an existing TF name but not one that is used by any G1 character, and which is also fairly appropriate for a combiner whose main component is an emergency response vehicle: "Safeguard".

I completely forgot about Firestormer, but I actually like Safeguard the best. Reminds me of the red Mini-con armor from the Armada game. Weirdly, I think the name would fit Defensor better, considering that he's made up of all emergency vehicles. For this guy, I would need to swap out the 3 limbs that aren't EMS vehicles to really make it work. But other than Ratchet, I don't know who else to use.

Before I sold off my CW/UW autobot limbs here is how I made my Safeguard. I switched Prowl out from Optimus Maximus and replaced him with PotP Jazz. Similarly, I swapped out UW Ratchet from Lynx Master with CW Smokescreen. Then Safeguard was PotP Inferno, UW Ratchet and CW Prowl, Rook and Alpha Bravo, for all white limbs that are emergency response vehicles (if you rationalize Alpha Bravo as a coast guard helicopter with missiles for some reason). It looks really good. You can even throw in Legends Groove of you wanted, but I like him better on Defensor myself.
