But you're forgetting that the combined mode has the cut-outs facing towards you, and since the wings don't have to be extended, it lends it a cool effect with the blue sub-layer showing through in between the cut-outs

Nope. If anything, with a bit of modification Onslaught could become a modern (albeit slightly different) Stalker and then throw in the Predator jets.

To spice it up even more, modify Silverbolt into Skyquake and suddenly the Predators have two torsos...

No retooling necessary.

Additionally, they could add in the new molds as new members. You could have Stalker, Rook mold and Alpha Bravo mold as the slower heavy hitters and then Skyquake and the Predator jets as the fast hitters. :-D

Seriously ... Hasbro went for classic G1 figures (the majority of which already had modern updates) instead of this big opportunity.
