They did something new for the 20th anniversary and made him a formula 1 type car. And nobody cared about him.
And Machine Wars had already done the "Formula-1 altmoded Prowl" thing previously.Lunatic Prime wrote:william-james88 wrote:Lunatic Prime wrote:To me it's a bit too boring. He's always a police super car. Something new would have been very cool and I prefer offroaders

That's Energon Prowl and it's still something like a super-car when they make a Formula 1 police car with a closed cockpit.

Good point, I forgot about that. I stand corrected!william-james88 wrote:He was told that it was called Betatron because it was the beta version of another combiner, with a hint hint wink wink. That tells me they were gonna release computron eventually (a full combiner takes a while to plan for).
I would have liked to have seen that as well, but just for the sake of variety. I actually like old Ironhide a lot and often reach for "Big Tex" to play with. The repaints are bothering me less and less, I'm just having fun with a bunch of different bots. Hasbro's brainwashing must be just about completeMr Skram wrote:Concerning the First Aid mold, I wished they had used something like that for Ironhide to make him look a little more like a van than Offroad's truck style tooling he got.

Though, just for clarity for those unaware, the Super Link version being named "Red Alert" shouldn't be confused with the Armada/Cybertron Red Alert character, whose name was "Ratchet" in Micron Desetsu and both "First Aid" and "First Gunner" (after his upgrade) in Galaxy Force.ScottyP wrote:william-james88 wrote:They did something new for the 20th anniversary and made him a formula 1 type car. In Superlink, that's Red Alert anyhow (and therefore the inspiration for the Energon redeco of Armada's Red Alert toy in the Sam's Club two pack with Starscream.)

-New leaders for torso re-use
Silverbolt & Hotspot joint 1st place with 8 uses each.
-New leaderS for limb re-use
The Skydive/AirRaid mold AND the Deadend/Streetwise mold, which now stands at a grand total of 13 uses.
-Total Combiner bots existing UP
Now 24 complete gestalts
-New pure and chaste overlord
Unite Warriors Blast-off's new shuttle mode is the only CW mold which hasn't been repainted at least once.
PM me if you want screencaps.
Who is the 13th use of the dead end mold? And am I the only one who's a little upset that with all the mold reuses we didn't see another use of first aid or a retool to drag strip?

By "he" you mean Blast Off?! Yeah, I would have prefered a remold of Alpha Bravo but let's see what they are making out of it. And yes, with the AB mold he would be upside down, but I wouldn't have cared.

Yes, I meant Blast OffFor that matter, Strafe also has Lightspeed's problem with the Aerialbot molds being so similar: it could be either Skydive/Air Raid or Firefly.

Actually, if you look at the proto/test shot of strafe, you can tell it's Air Raid by the way the arms are folded against the wing. Skydive has them in a different configuration.

Given how paired up the takara releases are, maybe they are the ones who suggested liokaiser to hasbro to go alongside computron.
