But That's the Canadian packaging. The only difference is you guys get collectors cards, and we in 'merica have the tie in comics.

The cards are really neat. From my understanding, it was said a SDCC Internationally all of the figures will have the collector cards. However in America, the Deluxe figures will have packed in comics, and the voyager, legends, and I think leader figures, will have the collector cards.

Ugh..that juat makes completing a full set of cards is way tougher. Although I would imagine enough people have no interest in them and will find themselves online for cheap, hopefully. I'd be more likely to pursue them if I could just get em in the store.

I don't mind the comic, but they could have just printed a mini version of the comic and thrown the card in too.

I'm reminded of a few years ago when Generations Warpath was supposed to hit. I walked into my TRU to find the Transformers section filled with Wave 1 ROTF and Animated toys that were almost a year and a half old. I just new that there was no way they would be stocking a new wave before Christmas. If I remember correctly it wasn't until the following year that I finally saw a Warpath on shelves.

In a wider sense would a video game coordinated with a current toy line help sales (as in selling these characters to their target audience)

Reading back through the thread, I hope the upcoming repaints are more like heavy retools... more than just the heads, but making Vortex a combat helicopter, blast off a shuttle, etc. Having seen what they did with Prime and Motormaster, it gives me some hope.

Brainstorming how they might make the Protectobots and Technobots work with repaints/retools and maybe one or two new figures... It dawned on me they could go with one motorcycle mold (repainted for each), plus a drill character to repaint for each as well... I think it would be a good fan nod to give us an obscure character like Heatrock. (Even though I'd be sad to miss out on First Aid, if they didn't make him. Still, can't figure a good repaint for that figure besides a G2 version.) They could actually also repaint one of the aerialbots as Skyfeather to mix and match.

(For those out of the loop, the Protectobots have two more obscure members that were featured in Kabaya kit. You can merge the six "Devastator style" into Gaia Guardian... or add in Hot Spot for a more Scramble City style 7-changer called God Guardian)

Either way, they have some interesting options there. Looking forward to seeing what they actually do... and hoping there are some bonus figures that can mix and match... not to mention some G2 and Takara repaints.

It also dawned on me they could do a Darkwing (repainted Silverbolt) plus four (or more) new-head F-14 seeker combiners (from Air Raid) as a set and/or convention exclusive.

Any interest or thoughts on those notions? ... seeker combiner? Drill limb for Protectobots?

Wonder how they would bring defensor considering that his components are on the lost light with Megatron...unless he's going to be part of elegant chaos so to tie in with the leader megs that's due for release.

Why would you love it that people are disappointed about established team members being left out? I would like to have Wildrider but I understand why they did it this way. Too many cars/planes for parents to buy at once but I still don't get enjoyment out of peoples disappointment.

If I remember correctly its the whole Protectobot team is on the Lost Light. Grooverider, First Aid and Hot Spot I know I have seen on there.

Didn't they Say at SDCC that events and characters of More Than Meets the Eye will be separate a self contained from the events of Combiner Wars?

Silverbolt and Skydive look terrible. Silverbolt's entire wing is sitting on kibble, and at least 1/3 of Skydive's wing is doing the same. Only Firefly looks somewhat reasonable for a jet.

If they want to make a Protectobot team, the fiction won't get in the way. After all, the fiction is only there to support the toy line. They can write new fiction to accommodate the figures, as they've been doing for 30 years.

The toys are based on the characters appearing in IDW's ongoing Transformers series, which are considered to be a G1-universe or reboot of sorts. It's not the same continuity as the original cartoon or the Marvel comics, but another take on the "G1" universe. They share the same "continuity family," similar to how Transformers Prime, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, and Exodus all share the "Aligned" continuity family, despite having different historical events among them.

No amount of nerd rage is going to change the fact that Combiner Wars is G1. ;)
