I actually found Hotspot to be skinnier than I expected, was I the only one who felt that?

But the CW Hotspot toy hadn't even appeared in stores or Conventions yet. How can you know how bulky or skinny the toy is? Unless you went to Toyfair and saw the toy on display.

While looking at online toy pics helps. Don't think it helps enough. Think you've got to see the toy in person or play with it. In order to judge it all the way.

You good.

My understanding and interpretation of the RTS subline was that it was not so much a MOVIE line as it was a Generations line that drew its influence off the Movie at the time, the same way Generations fed off FOC, and now IDW. Also, according to TFWiki, SeaSpray was never intended to be a Movieverse fig, the just recycled him through the fiction, possibly to sell toys.

He was apparently intended to be this [G1] Seaspray according to Hasbro Q&A at the time, but his bio and later fictional appearances suggest otherwise, portraying him alongside live-action film-style characters. As of November 2010 however, Hasbro confusingly maintains that he is NOT a movie-verse character

As to what constitutes a "Bay Toy", I think that's more up in the air. Obviously, anything that was in the movie (Barricade, Ironhide) or is based on something in the movie (Incinerator). I think for me, RTS Lockdown is more "Movie figure" because of how faithfully he embraces the alien faces and exposed mechanical details, and a more true to life vehicle. whereas RTS(?) Lugnut doesn't have the detail, his body is mostly flatish panels around a frame and his face still is very much his Animated form.

Thanks! And your intuition on Lugnut and Lockdown are spot on. While they are both animated characters turned more complex and realistic, they are from different lines. Lugnut is from RTS, meaning he is for a line more dedicated to G1 redux ala classics (as you pointed out) rather than a movie line while Lockdown was in Hunt for the Decepticon (HFTD) line which was a movie line (since it included movie characters/designs like ratchet and starscream). I just wrote a little article that deals with that distinction at the end: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... oys/32491/

Yeah, I guess I'm just saying I'd love some minibot deluxe Hasbro actually PLANNED. You're right, we did get some really good homages from the GDO Asia... and Cloud... not to mention TFCC Subscription Service, which I also see as this style of homage. They're awesome, but it's admittedly with some limitations.

Have to say, I've loved all those above. The only one's I haven't jumped up and down about have been Bayverse repaints. Can't stomach a G1 repaint from a Bay toy. Too different.

Something interesting I noticed with Jetfire-retool Thundercracker.

Every single other Combiner Wars toy that was announced for the first "wave" (Bombshell, Powerglide, etc. etc.) has either been released or at least set up for pre-order EXCEPT him.

I'm kinda disappointed.

I was actually double-wrong. He IS up for pre-order, and he ISN'T from Wave 1. Oops.

He looks like a nice figure.

On an unrelated note, I'm looking forward to maybe getting some more IDW-verse incarnations of characters in CW/Generations.

Crazy thought folks. Remember how in the US we got Sgt. Kup instead of Ironhide in the Prime line? As we know they're designing figures at least 2 years in advance, it's plausible that something complex like CW could've been in development longer. So do you think we got Kup because Hasbro knew that there was a pick-up truck Ironhide coming in a few years?

Would that assume that Takara would not be releasing CW ironhide then?

Regardless, I would imagine that Takara wouldn't be releasing Ironhide or any of the 1984 Bot remolds since A) Takara's lately had a habit of not releasing several retooled Generations toys, and B) the interview that talked about why Unite Warriors has Slingshot instead of Alpha Bravo makes it sound like Takara finds the idea of releasing anyone who wasn't a Combiner as a Combiner toy as baffling.

Not in the US. The mold was recolored into Kup. Japan got the original Ironhide release as part of the Arms micron line

We did get Prime Pickup Ironhide as a Cyberverse Commander.

I don't see TakaraTomy releasing Optimus Prime or any non-classic Combiners for Unite Warriors. That includes the "Masquerades" and Cyclonus. By the by, that's probably another factor for the skip of the Wreckers and Ruination for Generations in Japan.

At the very least get Slingshot so you're not saddled with Alpha Tossbag.

as a toy, Alpha Bravo is actually my favourite Wave 1 figure, so that's not a problem for me.

You're on the list ...

If you really hate Alpha Bravo, just do some parts swapping and painting, and make him into a space shuttle.

His feet/legs are similar to Classics Astrotrain.

It is a creative use of it. (And I may even try that out myself once I get him in June.) But it is very much based on G1 Superion's rifle. The barrel is a lot longer, but other than that it is almost a dead ringer.

Good news everyone... (no, really, this is good news) ;)^

I just spoke with Miriam at Hasbro Toy Shop. She said the 3/27 orders just arrived today and will be sent out tomorrow via an upgrade to Fed Ex Air on them. She said this is only for the 3/27 orders.

When I asked why I had not received any notification regarding the delay she said they don't send out emails for delays. They do apparently take good care of their customers when there is one, however. My order is expected to arrive by Friday.

I hope the other orders won't also be delayed. :PEACE:

Awesome news, Bradimus!

I was going to have to run down to US this weekend to pick up another very small shipment, and was disappointed that these toys had missed their ship date, and I would have to make yet another trip on another day.

If they get all the orders out tomorrow, with upgraded shipping, I might just be able to get all my orders at once!

Fingers crossed!

Stupid question; looking back at the old G1 combiners the legs are always shown with the robot chests out, but with Combiner Wars the vehicle parts face out. Is it possible that the old G1 photographers and instruction designers got it wrong? It would kinda make sense since the arms have the vehicle bits out.
