I wonder what other redecos/remolds are planned for this mold, because to me he really only works as Blackjack. I do like the look of Hot Rod in vehicle mode, however.

Well Takara is making a Runabout out of it, so it gives us an idea of what's possible.

The originally intended character no less ;) Hope we get a proper Ruckus out of Offroad.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Was thinking the same. But wouldn't the former legion sized Rodimus be a better fit? Mind that one does lack articulation.

Too much about this figure doesn't work, but just enough of it does! :BANG_HEAD: I'll curse myslef but will no doubt end up getting it. It'll get a paint overhaul though, and probably won't serve as anyone's chest piece.

That card though :x

Trademark, and the "Hot Rod" name is in the firm hands of Mattel for their Hot Wheels line. So Hasbro can't use it at all, not even as "Autobot Hot Rod".

I thought the reason had to do with some magazine called Hot Rod. I didn't realize Mattel had use Hot Rod in the Hot Wheels line, seems greedy of them.

Of course, all this naming nonsense seems to go back to when Hasbro got the Street Fighter 2 rights then Mattel was all you can't put out something called Ken.

Technically sorta they are, all shuttle pilots are USAF officers.

Has anyone else noticed that once again the Legends figures are available FAR sooner than their wave mates? I like that Roddy but wish Hasbro put another slit in so the fins can be up for robot mode, then again none of the Rodimi in this scale have had their fins up

I think he looks great and will serve a fun purpose in this new Scramble City universe this line is shaping up to be. I also believe this is another example of a "pre-tool". When I got Blackjack and saw his alt mode, it screamed HOTROD directly in my earhole. This repaint was premeditated.

Ha ha, boy was I intensely excited when those photos showed the spoiler/ax on his back, then horribly disappointed to see it was all trickery. :-(

I didn't even get a good look at the head. And what a fantastic and detailed sculpt it is.

It does give off an Ironhide vibe now that you mention it. I wonder if it would be possible to retool the shell to be more van like? I would think if so, then it would add a nice boxy chest to the figure.

EDIT: if anyone is still looking for Quickslinger or Brake-Neck, they are available on TRU.com

Might be old news, I don't go to TRU.com that often, but figured it wouldn't hurt to share.

Why is there so much hate towards Alpha Bravo, but people are perfectly fine with Powerglide being an Aerialbot, when he wasn't an Aerialbot back in the day?

I'm more then a few pages behind on this thread, so I am sure this question has long since been answered, debated, and moved on from by now... but I wished to dredge it back up for a moment to give my own personal answer.

Superion is made of five individual robots. In any version of Superion, Powerglide is not one of those five robots.

Where Alpha Bravo replaced one of the original five, Powerglide's being added to the Aerialbot roster is as an extra, supplemental member who is not at all necessary to form Superion. He can become an extra gun for Superion to hold. If Powerglide isn't around, Superion still has his own gun. So Powerglide is hardly essential.

Also, you can add Powerglide without having to take anyone else away. You can't say the same of Alpha Bravo. For him to be on the team, someone else had to go. And for me, personally, as someone who doesn't read comic books, and who knows the Aerialbots from the 80's cartoon and toy line, and as someone who's Transformers collection is mainly about recreating that with modern toys, I want a Superion who doesn't have any of the original members missing. Extra members? Sure, why not? But not if they come at the expense of an existing one.

Powerglide is a fun toy. And he works well in robot and vehicle mode. I probably won't even use his gun mode that often, or even likely keep him on the same shelf as the main Aerialbot team. He's currently on a shelf with other "1985 Autobots," and, of course, the original Aerialbots came out in '86.

I'm sure Alpha Bravo is a fun toy, too. If there weren't other options for Superion, I might have sucked it up and gotten him. If there weren't going to be other options to get the mold, I might also have gotten him. I do look forward to getting Blades. And for those that are more into the current comic continuity, I am very happy that we are both able to get the Superion we want. ;)

But the fact of the matter is, I got Powerglide because I wanted Powerglide. His being able to form a gun for Superion is just a superfluous bonus. I'm not getting Alpha Bravo because I don't feel I need him. His being a helicopter has nothing to do with it. His not being Slingshot does.

Aside from that, PG seems to be quite popular these past years given how many versions he got post G1.

G1 mini plane (Hasbro and Takara)
Classics (big @ss figure) x version 1,2,3 [white, red and red]
Bayverse PG (Hasbro and T/T)
Combinerwars version

I think he looks great. Possibly the best Hot Rod ever.

I wish they used that had fire Blackjack instead of the soulless faceplate and visor look.

I'm curious how tall he is. Is he close to scout size? A comparison pic would be nice.

We have individual product listings for Optimus Maximus and the 84 limbs. I can conclude one of the following:
Optimus Maximus is the name of both the white Prime redeco and the combined robot
Optimus Maximus is the name of the combined robot only and will be sold as a gift set

Option 1 is more likely.

He has 84 limbs?! By Primus purge it with fire!

Anyways in all seriousness I'd agree that they're lazy and it's the name for both, honestly thinking seeing as I bought the Prime I'll pass on the repaint, or is not a repaint but a totally unpainted figure? :P

I'm in the same boat. An all (or mostly) white Optimus Prime is just kind of weird to me. I could understand if they were trying to pass him off as a Magnus, but they're not. (Hell, in this line, they gave Magnus his own mold for once!)

But an all white Prime? What is that? What is the point? Is there some reason in the comics for it, or did Hasbro just pull it out of their arses? To me, Prime should be more, well, crimson. ;)

I already have the red and blue Optimus from that same mold, and I am quite looking forward to getting the '84-bot limbs to attach to him. This white one has to me, since it was first hinted at, seemed completely unnecessary. Even if you look at it as a matter of Hasbro wanting to get more reuses out of that mold, I am sure there is another truck character they could have turned it into.

But, ah well. No one is forcing me to buy it. I'll be happy with my red Prime and his '84 limbs. :D
