shajaki wrote:ok. my views on optimus:
-those arms in his bot mode are unfortunate. i can look past it, especially since i dont buy combiners to pose em seperately
-i REALLY like the torso he makes, chest pieces closed or open.
-what i dont like it how the open chest is barren of paint apps. hopefully takara fills in those spots, because theres some great details in that sculpting.
-the combined head, is phenomenal.
im excited about the two following prospects:
-the recent reveal of him being compatible with (all?) legends figures.
-and picturing him "scramble city'ing" with every other figure yet to come out. with all the possibilities we "could" get... my head is spinning!

ya know Sabrblade with all of this TF Energon homage talk i am so ready for Energon's 12 anniversary and what might be new on the table
Naturally. That's the highest tier of Hasbro's three targeted age groups for Transformers:padfoo wrote: I am not sure if anyone commented on the fact that all the combiner wars toys are listed as ages 8 and up.

So basically, Optimus (and presumably Motormaster) can combine with literally any Transformer? That's awesome.
Wouldn't surprise me if it's been tooled especially for prime, allowing for a combination that motormaster can't do.
Out of those pictures I personally like the thunder cracker one, it also makes sense given the story so far.
datguy86 wrote:I was wondering how they might do the rumored leader Ultra Magnus, and Op's combiner head just clinched it for me. The trailer will probably consist of pieces which partsform into the arms and legs (and chest?). It would also make Ultra Magnus compatible with all the Combiner Wars stuff.
Behold the Enigma of Combination.padfoo wrote:I like the Thundercracker combination as well I just cannot see how these combos will make sense in the comics. The characters really don't have special abilities like they did back in the old days. What does the extra character bring to the table, and how will this play out in the comics. It seems like Thundercracker and Windcharger are just there<

But the rumor told us that it's a Leader figure, which already has an established pricepoint right now thanks to Jetfire.Autobot tap out wrote:padfoo wrote:datguy86 wrote:I was wondering how they might do the rumored leader Ultra Magnus, and Op's combiner head just clinched it for me. sounds like a interesting idea if it goes for what datguy86 said it would probably be sold for the price of what Either a Cyberton , Animated , or a Prime RiD voyager class figure is

Takara's got it easy with what they have to do to the combiner chest. They just have to make the entire chest covered in one color: Silver chrome!Wolfman Jake wrote:shajaki wrote:what i dont like it how the open chest is barren of paint apps. hopefully takara fills in those spots, because theres some great details in that sculpting.
Speaking of what Takara-Tomy might do to touch up the CW Optimus Prime mold, here's what I'm hoping: They'll cover up some of the bare gray plastic with red or blue paint as needed. The feet should be blue. They also need to paint up some of the obvious bare spots on the cab mode with red. Some appropriate blue and yellow detailing on the pelvis would help. Also, I'm curious as to if the biceps can be rotated at all. I'd leave the grill gray (or painted metallic silver), but do the sides in red and rotate them 90 in robot mode to give a better G1 "all red arms" look to the figure.
