The first major film appearance of an F-35B was in Live Free or Die Hard (2007). The film used a combination of a full-scale model and CGI[53][54] to dramatize its hovering ability using the lift fan.

Although once I saw Transformers, I thought at one point they were ripping into Die Hard 4.. remember this bit of dialogue in the mission city:
"They shot at us!"
"Fighter pilots would never fly below buildings! That ain't friendly, that's alien!"
Hmmmmm, the F-35 in Die Hard 4 was certainly.. err.. below bridges!
Personally I thought that whole sequence with the jet in DH4 was too much, way over the top. So for me Transformers was making fun of them

Pretty wicked if you ask me. I can't wait to see one of those in person. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia.Popular culture

I used to be an avionics tech on jets in the Navy. I have a serious weakness for fast jets.

If you notice, there were 2 Transformers guesting in the movie.
Prime, appeared as a good guy, helping the main character cop.
While Starscream was out to kill the cop.
Somewhere near the end climax, the two of them duke it out.
Guess who survived?
Heatseeker wrote::lol: I had the same thought when I saw that part. Although, that plane was an F-35, not the 22. Single engine, verticle lift. Too slow. So it wasn't Starscream. Updated Thundercracker maybe? And even Optimus Prime doesn't get banged up as bad as that truck did.

I'd prefer to think of the F-35B as an updated Slingshot (since they're both vertical takeoff). Call it personal preference, but there's something about a seeker as a single-engined jet that doesn't agree with me.
Course if that was Slingshot in the movie, he wouldn't be fighting Prime.
If people think that a fighter pilot would never fly under a building, then I guess they never saw The Rock.

Not once did I think that. Though that was the world's dumbest fighter pilot. EVER!!!
That was a damn nice jet though. Hope one of the other seekers appear as it in a tf sequal.

I think the flew under the bridge? Not buildings.

My point is, that's still awfully low.

Because the city is populated. So the pilots won't fly low in such area.
I didn't see the F-22 flying low. Except for Starscream. He's alien.
Whereas for Die Hard 4, it's really uncommon that the F-35 flew very low and close. But the streets were practically deserted by that time. So it's still logical they did that.
But the way the pilot handled that F-35, was really dumb.
