How many version of the Kingdom Galvatron mold do you have so far? One? Two? Three? Well Hasbro is coming out with a 4th one. They have just confirmed, as part of Transformers Tuesday, that the Legacy rerelease of Galvatron will have the battle damage removed.
This news helps us with something else. It confirms that PR label next to a figure does not mean the figure will be an identical release. Some said that the "Soundwave PR" listing we saw couldn't be a rerelease of the Netflix Soundwave because that would make it different from the original release which was a three pack. Well, this proves it doesn't matter. PR simply means they are rereleasing a previously released mold and character in a new line.

And we’re happy to announce that we listened to your feedback and removed the battle damage deco! Both Transformers: Legacy Leader Galvatron and Laser Optimus Prime are launching this Spring.

So Galvatron's colors are not the muted purple. Whew. I don't have to buy it, I can remove my own battle damage if it bothers me. It actually makes sense that the colors wouldn't change because that wouldn't be a straight repack.

I thought this was figured out a long time ago.

Hasbros just about done all they can to flog this. maybe another rerelease will include the unicron fat suit. He's probably going to get a premium paint version and a cell shaded version at some point. I'll just wait until he has all three modes and looks good in all three of them until then TR Galv will do.

I just hope they don't take everyone not wanting to buy a fourth copy of the same mold as a sign that actually we do prefer battle damage.

It was far from "known", it was a guess. The stock photos showing him without battle damage came in the same batch of photos that showed Buzzworthy Bumblebee Cliffjumper with clear windows which we knew for sure was wrong since that figure was out in stores (and yet people still said the stock photos were right and the released figure was wrong ). This could have gone either way. The photo also showed him in what people insisted was lighter purple which they've confirmed they're just removing the battle damage so people were only half right with their guess.




For now this is a pass for me, at least until the completionist in me decides I need all versions of this figure and have to buy it too...

It may be the lighting or editing, but that purple color appears less Red-Violet than the Kingdom version.
I'm not sure how much of a deal it is (or costs) to slightly alter the color of plastic...
But think to Buzzworthy Kup-- in addition to the windshield, painted eyes, added scrape/age lines, and tire color change, there is at least one if not two color alterations of a major color (or colors).
So while this isn't the paler, toned-down Violet color that is ideal imo, I think it very much could be slightly different.

I am very anxious to see what we end up getting with "PR Soundwave".
With the first release being an exclusive, I won't be surprised if it's the exact same as the NF version.
Then I think, a slight change here and there could reel-in quite a few people (including me).

Well with the photos shown above, there's no telling... That stock photo of the Kingdom version is much more of a straight violet than what I see on my shelf.
IF the Legacy version is as violet as either of those photos show, then it is a slightly different color.

If it's just a 1:1 change without mold changes and the exact same plastic type then it's pretty straight forward and doesn't cost any more. Question is why would they bother?

They probably won't.
However, like I said, I look at this Buzzworthy Kup as a very, very recent reference.
And sure, Hastak isn't going to ever come out and explicitly say, "The first run of that figure's color is a bit off".
But Kingdom Galvatron's color is too red (too warm)... I would've thought if anything he would've been more of a blue-violet. My ideal being a tone of blue-violet.
If they're going for violet, a straight violet, then all I'm saying is that a no-cost color modification doesn't seem out of the question.
And if nothing else, it possibly helps to get more people to buy this figure again.
I could definitely be one of them.

I did. I still have Siege to rep Soundwave, and if Legacy is a rerelease of Netflix sans cassettes, he'll be mine as well.

I'm betting they'll use the new weapon combining gimmick and pack one in with Galvatron. They'll use that to pull us in to buying a 4th repaint.

That Kup is technically still a SS86 figure so it makes sense for them to want to find a way to fix all the complaints of the first release and make him even more screen accurate. But Galvatron doesn't have any reason to be more or less accurate to anything and I'm surprised they even bothered removing the damage considering how much people complained about it throughout all of WFC.

I still wouldn't be surprised if we got a Studio Series Galvatron repaint at some point, maybe in Buzzworthy Bumblebee.

I don’t think anyone ever wanted battle damage lol but thanks for listening I guess? Maybe some panel lining would be cool or a G1 redeco of all the movie studio series like green purple Devastator, blue car soundwave, red iron hide etc. Missed the initial release I might actually pick this up though they look pretty slick

Actually I’m looking at all the posts and thinking about premium finish line and the new Kup that actually really impressed me and it got me thinking about maybe getting some nicely painted figures in stores like the masterpiece showing up in targets sometimes only affordable. But looking again I think they just skimped out on extra paint to save a buck and told us it’s what we wanted but still it kind of is though just get it right next time

I didn't buy this Galvatron the first time lol. And still have no plans to unless some third party comes up with a good kit to give him the missing back spar.

I wonder if this line will scrap repacking Netflix Soundwave (at least I seem to recall reading they were gonna repack him) in favor of a do-over. Seems unlikely, but it would be nice considering WFC Soundwave being a bit short for his own good (and his chest apparently being a bit cramped, with no chance of enlarging it to fit better cassette figures). Or maybe I should give up and just kitbash my G1 Soundwave to have modern arm and leg articulation...

Speaking of repacks, though... And I know I've said this a lot... I still think Legacy would be better off getting paused in favor of a mostly-Earthrise WFC repack. I'm sorry, but being able to buy ER Sunstreaker, Hoist, Cliffjumper, Trailbreaker, etc. for $22 (or whatever the price hike is to) instead of $50-$60, of being able to buy ER Seekers other than Starscream for non-stupid prices... is a far more exciting prospect for me than what we've seen so far of Legacy.

I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of it ages ago too, plus it's been widely assumed/known it was this version.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to this. I hope Springer and she other of the bots get reissued without cr@pple-damage too. Then I can start buying more off the WFC figures I vetoed.

As much as I love this mould, I have the original and the toy coloured Galvatron 2. I can remove the battle damage myself and repair the shoulders if it bothered me that much. I'd have thought it make more sense to release this version in the more lilac colour we see from Japan. Even though I hate that (especially on Cyclonus gimme him in toy colours!) I know some people prefer it. Cater to them!

I was wondering that too, but I suppose people who wouldn't/couldn't get the original would complaint?

I already have 3 versions of this mold. Do I want another? Not really. Is it unique enough to make me want it? Nope. Does it have the shoulder fix? I can't tell.

I suspect the shoulder is fixed. I noticed the shoulders are fixed on the regular version that was released in Japan.
