Transformers Legacy Line Discussion
Re: Transformers Legacy Line Discussion
I don't want to panic anyone, but the Walgreens placeholder listing for Minerva isn't up anymore. Same thing happened with Marvel Legends Moonstone. As far as I know, they have never been available to ship and were never in retail stores. I'm hoping they took them offline ahead of them actually going on sale soon. At any rate, might be a good idea to keep your eyes open this weekend.
The product exists, it hasn't been sold domestically yet outside tiny quantities on Pulse, so I'm sure we'll see them at some point.

I would prefer not. Year 1 posting will drop off as year 2 posting picks up. The Studio Series thread doesn't reboot every year.

In the sense that this is a continuation like "Earthrise" was for "Siege" and "Kingdom" was for "Earthrise", I thought it might be appropriate. It's not the end of the world if not, but I do tend to favor organization of information.

- Beast Machines became "Beast Machines: Battle for the Spark"
- Armada became "Armada: The Unicron Battles"
- Energon became "Energon: The Powerlinx Battles"
- Cybertron became "Cybertron: Primus Unleashed"
- The first movie line became "Transformers: AllSpark Power" and "Transformers: Premium Series"
- Revenge of the Fallen became "Revenge of the Fallen: N.E.S.T. Global Alliance"
- The 2010 Transformers line became "Transformers: Reveal the Shield"
- The original Generations line became "Generations: Fall of Cybertron" and "Generations: Thrilling 30"

I liken Siege becoming Earthrise and then Kingdom to more like how Armada became Energon and then Cybertron. Or how Combiner Wars became Titans Return and then Power of the Primes. All three different lines part of a larger umbrella-named trilogy ("Unicron Trilogy", "Prime Wars Trilogy", and "War for Cybertron Trilogy").

This toy has not been spotted in stores yet (and might only ever be sold online). Any trip there for that toy would be a wasted trip until you read that it's been found.

Regardless, Minerva is pretty trash. Not worth it at all.
I think I'll just dump her along some other bots to buy something better at my local geek store, GameStop style.

Not so animated prowl pics out, pretty good but no samurai greatness. Would be interested in it as a prowls action master vehicle colors tho.

Speaking as one who still has the original Animated Prowl, the Animated Samurai Prowl, and the Japanese-exclusive G1-colored Animated Elite Guard Prowl, I ask myself what this new G1-ified Animated Prowl offers me that those original toys don't?
And from the looks of it, the answer is... guns. Pointless guns. Because Autobot Cyber-Ninjas totally use guns.
The Junkion looks cool, though.

Those are some weird choices for Prowl. We'll see what he looks like in his other mode. But it seems like it's not really an upgrade from the original toy. At least he's not as G1ified as the Prime guys, which gives me hope for a potential Lugnut and Bulkhead, who are the only Animated bots who really need an update.

At the very least, he's another case of a once round and curvy character made blocky. It seems only BW, G1, and UT characters are allowed to keep their curves if they originally had any. No curviness allowed for any Prime or Animated characters, apparently.

That Prowl is pretty genius. It's the fusion of the original G1 with Animated. I expect a "G1 colored" repaint in Select or as some store exclusive sooner or later.

For me, the worst part is how stocky they made him. Prowl was slender, he's a ninja. I really don't get what they have against following the Prime and Animated aesthetics as closely as they have literally every other universe's.

"Genius" is a pretty strong word considering the original Animated Prowl was already an "Animated-ization" of G1 Prowl, per his design evolution:-Kanrabat- wrote:That Prowl is pretty genius. Found pics of their vehicle modes. The Junkion bike looks good.
Prowl's bike mode is CHUNKY. Nowhere near as sleek as his original bike mode.

The original Animated design is really stylized. The Legacy one is more of a perfect fusion and the head this time around match the body. I know it's not what animated fans want but at least it works way better than Bulkhead, Arcee, and Knockout.
For some TRUE Animated updates, the original TV series needs to be remastered, re-aired, then that missing season must finally be made. Then they could do an original toy line that will go with the cartoon with better engineering. This could be the next thing after Earthspark. But we all know that will never happen.

There was no need for a fusion in the first place. As for the impossible relaunch you mention at the end, there was no such fanfare for Beast Wars and the Unicron Trilogy, yet we're getting near perfect updates for those. They just do them properly and that's it. But they clearly just have no faith in Animated and Prime, so they do them mostly with G1 repaints in mind. Look at the recent Skyquake leak, that's just G1 Skyquake in Prime colors. Arcee was just a premold for Road Rocket, of all things. Knockout was a measly retool of Jazz.
