I'm excited about the possibility of a future Monstructor, but I would have hoped for a full size version rather than a core version.

You pretty much answered your own question (of a sort). Slug is the torso because it'll fit for the future retool into Dinoking (more likely then Monstructor)

william-james88 wrote:While Dinoking is not mentioned explicitly, this is undoubtedly what is being referred to since Dinoking is a small Dinosaur themed combiner from the G1 era which also had 6 equally sized bots combining together. And, while Volcanicus has Grimlock's T-rex as the centre piece, it is Slug's Triceratops head here, which more closely matches Dinoking's appearance in the Japanese show. Also, Hasbro is NOTORIOUS for "stay tuned" or "we'll see" nothing responses, so actually hinting at something on Social media, in an unpromted fashion, means there is something in play. Another big tell that Dinoking is coming is that the rumour for Skar's alt mode (we already know he's the 6th Dynobot) is it's an anklylosaurus. And that is the 6th dino shell used in the original toy (all other shells correspond to alt modes the other 5 Dinobots have, you can see an image below).

Should we expect Core Grimlock to be a leg then?

I forgot that Drinking reused the Monstructor molds without any retooling, and only the Pretender forms changed to make the new team dinosaurs. That might make me more optimistic for a Monstructor deco, even if they don't retool for G1 designs. There's precedent for a straight redeco, even if it's the opposite of the G1 circumstances. I have no interest in Dinoking since I'm going to be getting the Dinobots, but Monstructor is mandatory as an American G1 figure that I owned back in the day. (I still have him, but he didn't hold up when my kid was playing with him.)

Yes. And it's not uncommon for a Team Leader to be a leg rather than (part of) the torso, look at Devastator.

That extra detail for Bludgeon from Tarn is a good catch, I like that. I like the new Bludgeon design, and it's been consistent lately, so that is an extra plus.

You could have gone with Dinoking also, as Goryu (who Grimlock in theory would be re-tooled/painted as) was the team leader of the Dinoforce and also a leg.

You can definitely see Chopshop and Venom there - and maybe Barrage if you squint hard. Will they count the Creatures Collide Ransack and not do a proper remold? Probably. Hopefully they'll do new molds for the remaining Deluxe Insecticons...

This is what I see in the Insection section (ltr): Front & in robot mode - Shrapnel, Kickback, Bombshell; back & in insect mode - Barrage, Mosquito thingy (?), Venom, Chop Shop. Thoughts?
The "mosquito thingy" is Ransack, just drawn to match his original G1 toy design rather than his recent Kickback-repaint figure. Kickback as well is also drawn without the details from his Legacy figure (no bug legs on his elbows, etc.), meaning that this shot on the poster is a teaser of those other Insecticon characters being in the pipeline but is not indicative of what their actual figures will look like other than just starting design elements, much like when the Earthrise poster had T30 Trailbreaker on it. The rest of the Deluxe Insecticons will probably still be remolds of the main 3/each other.

Doubtful, but one can still hope.

I did not get Legacy Kickback because I did have FOC Kickback, and I have been waiting to give him friends. Plus, after getting Ransack, one of that mold is enough for me. not worth $25.

I wouldn't put it past 'em to just retool the regular Insecticon molds into em, heh.
I was personally happy with the Kickback mold (I have him and Ransack), but the FoC one is still really good. Having a physical Gear Shredder is easily the coolest part, I hope the upcoming WfC figures also have guns from the game and allow them to be used interchangeably between them.

Oh I would love it if many of these molds were retooled into the FOC skins, specifically the Dinobots. That old FOC Grimlock is still one of my all time favorite toys, and I would love to see it updated nicely.

At least for Jazz, i think I'd like a new mold. His transformation was a little bit different, and i feel like the forearm wheels, in-the-ankle rear wheels, and the engine cylinder upper back may need more than the SS86 mold can muster

I'm hoping they make new molds for all of 'em, just thinking about what corners HasTak would cut to get there. It isn't unheard of to make extensive retools to the point where it's virtually a new mold.
Also hoping we don't get fairly "meh" retools like FoC Sideswipe was.

FOC Sideswipe still makes me sad, I hope we get a good and proper one of him.

I love the FOC designs so much, I really want to see them given their proper due. Especially a nice in-scale Jazz, Cliffjumper, Grimlock, Air Raid, and Shockwave

Yeah, they really do deserve better. The old toys weren't really bad but some (such as Sideswipe and Ultra Magnus) really deserve a redo. I know they've been focusing on scale as-is lately but I feel like their inclusion in SS will definitely try to keep it as close as possible. (With two huge Grimlocks in SS and SS86 already, it'd be foolish of 'em to not have a big FoC Grimmy.)

I don't know about D-MAximal's reasons, but to me, ever since these proper cartoon/comic accurate versions of the G1 characters started coming out, the Classics / Universe 2.0 reimaginings have taken a life of their own. Back when they came out they felt sort of like a "barely good enough" remasters of the G1 characters. But now that Primes/WFC/Legacy is giving us true "remasters" of G1 characters, I've found it easier to look at those lines as what they actually are, which is pretty cool alternate, modernized takes on those characters. And that's without taking late 2000's stylings, design and nostalgia into account
