Not necessarily. This game uses designs no matter how old. It's used the ROTF Bludgeon toy from 2009 for G1 Bludgeon, and the Timelines Shattered Glass Alpha Trion toy from 2007 as G1 Alpha Trion.

You sure? if you look at the legs, they look like springers. The chest ither be molded to make shorter on drift. It's a very compatible moped tho

Look at the wheels on the legs, it's on the main leg not on the side like drift. And the wheels on arms coukd be modified

(Waiting for Sabrblade to bring up all previous instances with scanned panels from Marvel comics in which Grimlock has the same pose. I can thing of a couple in IDW, too.
