Here's my review of MP-22 Ultra Magnus! Not without its flaws, but overall still a pretty damn amazing figure that has serious presence on display with the other MPs.

I got Ultra Magnus today! Jeez, I knew he was going to be big but it was a bit of a shock taking him out of the box! He dwarfs every Transformer I've ever had, it's insane. He looks phenomenal in both modes! I don't know how they do it.

Anyone else notice that Takara omitted Red Alert from the the back of Magnus' booklet as well as the stop-motion video?

I hope it means they're planning to redo him closer to the cartoon model. In my opinion he wasn't retooled enough from Sideswipe, as Smokescreen was from Prowl. My guess is that back then Takara was uncertain about this line so the budget for Red was lower.

What more could they do for Alert? MP Lambor already looked more like Red Alert's character model than it resembled Sideswipe's.

I was ready to be disappointed by Ultra Magnus, I had thoughts that he would be a quickly cobbled together answer to Citizen Stack. I thought that he would be a mess of flimsy plastic. I was mostly wrong.

He is very well thought out, there are a few surprising elements to him. Such as the way the arms transform, I didn't expect there to be a hinge right at the top of the arm. I like the fact that the cab can be disconnected.

I hope he gets a Hasbro release so I can get a 2nd.

UM is a great toy, and looks very imposing in both modes. I am a little disquieted by the fact that his entire arms (which aren't exactly light) are attached to what is pretty much a flap of plastic, but I really can't argue with the results. The fact that he doesn't come with the Matrix that he's compatible with is a big of a cheap move too. It's a really good figure though, and though it lacks dazzle or wow factor it's very solid in all regards.

im sure you dont have six of that matrix. only the MP10 matrix would fit. even i only have 5 (MP10, MP10B, YOTH, and the two satellite ones) and im kinda crazy. though i will have 6 when my MP10 eva shows up!

UM being matrix-less honestly kinda bums me out. cause had a matrix been in there, it can be seen through the windows no? i gotta find one on ebay now. an empty matrix chamber is something i simply can not have :-(

2 MP01 Matrixes
1 MP10
The two that came with TRU MP Rodimus
And I believe I have one of those separate diecast ones.

And then there is the tiny one that came with THS02 Optimus, oh and Cybertron Leader Optimus, I believe that event fits with MPs if I remember correctly.

TRU MP Rodimus.
G1 Galvatron Purple Reissue (on a chain).
2x THS02 Hybrid Prime - Red and Black versions.
Cybertron Leader Prime.

I hadn't thought about this up until now.
