So a friend of mine today brought up this design for BW Grimlock because it's awesome, and jokingly said 'Voyager BW Grimlock when'. I then went on to say that given the MP BW Dinobot should be around Voyager size that's actually quite likely given Takara does all these toy-exclusive redecoes all the time (even of american-only ones like G2 Sideswipe and Bumblebee) but then I realised something.

When looking for things to redeco Dinobot into, Takara wouldn't have to look far. Because between Hasbro and Takara, they abused the hell out of the original Dinobot mold.

Leaving out decoes created with the express intent of replicating the show's colours as best as possible:-

-Original Hasbro toy



-1999 Fox Kids



-Hasbro 10th Anniversary



-Beast Wars Grimlock



-Dinobots Grimlock



-BWII Thrustor



-BWN Hardhead



-Beast Machines Dinotron




And that's before we get into other possibilities like the Cyber Raptor from Season 3 and maybe even a heavy retool into Dinobot II! There's an absolutely insane amount of possibilities here to the extent I'm not even sure if Grimlock would be on the table, especially when his Japanese-exclusive retools were show characters!
I honestly have to question why Hasbro and Takara were so addicted to this mold; it wasn't even good.

I get the feeling he will come with that - Masterpiece figures do include more accessories significant to the character than simply their standard weapons

Come to think of it, since Code of Hero was so notable and there's now precedence for it in MP-36 Megatron, anyone else think we'll get some optional battle damage head and chest pieces?

The skull helmet would be nice as well, but they'd probably save it for a potential toy-accurate repaint with translucent parts.

I wonder if we'll ever get a "real life" transforming velociraptor that's a little more "killer chicken" and little less Jurassic Park?

We have our first render of this glorious figuee. I'm not fully sure of it because i can't read the text, being in japanese, but looks legit to me. nd it looks awesome. If a little pudgy in dino mode. But doesn't look like there's robo kibble there.

Robot mode torso looks a weeeeee bit big... but otherwise HELL YEAH

That is one chubby velociraptor. Even his cankles have cankles. While I'm not a fan of beast wars I am a fan of dinosaurs so I was kinda looking forward to this one, but I'm disappointed. The robot mode looks pretty good but the dinosaur mode is really weak. Transformation looks interesting though so I guess that's something?

The dinosaur mode only looks funny because no scale texture/paint has been added.

Both torsos look a little too big but I'm not judging it yet. Not only is this a render, it's an untextured gray model render. I might be so forgiving because I really want it to be good and I'll probably get it anyway.

To be fair Dinobot's raptor model in the show was a little thick.

Yeah, it's weird to think and remember like that but Dinobot... man, those thighs.

It's more evident on video than a single frame or picture can convey. And yeah, I know this is the clone, but same model.
