What's the chance of Takara totally changing G1 Wheelie for the Missing Link line? I mean, things like giving him a head instead of a face, in line with the recent Deluxe Retro line.

What do you mean? All he needs is elbows and knees!

Exactly. That's my boy!

My concern is the precedence Takara have taken with ML Ironhide/Ratchet by giving them a head and also losing the sled.

Edit: I hope Takara keeps Wheelie's rub sign in the same location.

Questions I have for ML Ironhide:

Is the ML Ironhide the same height as the G1 toy? (excluding the head)

Did Takara give the co-pilot a name?

I believe the Ironhide is roughly around the size of the original when he was standing on the sled.

Takara are announcing a Decepticon soon. Theree is a teaser, but its not great. Just a Decepticon logo. Rumours which contained the one about a redesigned Ironhide said it was Soundwave, which whilst it will be cool, I am just hoping we get Megatron eventually.

As much as I like Soundwave, I hope it isn't him. We're kinda drowning in G1 Soundwaves since 2024 between Legacy, Studio Series, Dramatic Capture Masterpiece G, Blokees, G.I.Joe, Retro reissue, Reactivate, Lego, Robosen and some non-G1 versions, I think we're good for a little while. I'd rather they do the jets, start now because they're going to be doing them for years to come.

3 things to comment on here.

First up: Ironhide. I am a bit shocked by the avenue they went, but I like it. I would have preferred if the head was actually on the sled and it could separate, to keep the G1 toy look, but I still like the concept.

Second, for Missing link, I am trying to stay to 1 use per mold. This one will be difficult, since both Ratchet and Ironhide look good, but I am not sure which I favor. I am leaning Ironhide right now, but it's close.

Third, I got my Missing Link Magnus. Unfortunately, this one is a bit of a miss for me. The armor could and should have been done a bit different to better secure the white robot mode inside, and as a result his bigger mode really can't do much outside the arms. I love his alt mode and Deerstalker, but the big robot and price mean I am going to cancel my Delta order, I can't justify the price twice especially since compared to the first 3 molds I got he feels so lackluster

Has to be Megatron for 1st proper Decepticon release. Surely.
If not, I'm hoping for a member of the Rainmakers. The Seekers can roll out later. Wouldn't that be something.

Call me odd, but I would love it if Shockwave was the first ML con

The original had pretty decent articulations for the time. If they ever do it, there may be not much differences between it and the G1 original, for the low, low price of 200$.

I've never owned a G1 Shockwave (or KO). But here are my suggestions.
* Waist swivel.
* Integrating the gun nozzle/barrel to eliminate partsforming without detriment to bot mode, if possible.
* Shockwave looks top heavy in bot mode. Poses I've seen tend to be static. Anything to create dynamic poses is a real plus.

It sure will be interesting to see how they make the G1 Megatron toy look like the original toy while turning into a tank! ;)

I believe that they'll probably go with the most popular Decepticon first, which in Japan I'm pretty sure goes to either Soundwave or Starscream.

Unless they want to make the first Decepticons (excluding Nemesis Prime) to be released come with a diaclone pilot, then I'd say Starscream, followed by the endless goldmine that are seeker repaints, or (an odd and admittedly biased, choice honestly) the Insecticons. Because again, repaints, market them as troop builders/clones, and can include diaclone pilots.

You may jest but that'd only happen if Hasbro were involved in this line in any way. Japan doesn't have any of the same issues with Megatron being a gun that the Western world has, and Missing Link is 100% a Takara-initiated line meant for Japanese consumers first and foremost. So if Takara wants to make Megatron a gun as a for-Japan-first toy, the only thing stopping them is the notion that Hasbro wouldn't be able to import it like the other toys in the line. But even that isn't much of a hindrance since Takara can still profit from their own domestic market without needing help from overseas profits, like how they keep making the Wild King line without Hasbro or any other Western retailers importing any of those figures.

In other words, a proper gun-moded Missing Link Megatron is entirely possible. Just be prepared for it to be more difficult to obtain outside of Japan than the other Missing Link figures.

I just hope Takara insist on keeping ML G1 Megs with the in-your-face trigger pelvis. It's so iconic & makes the man, pun intended.

A working pellet shooting mechanism just like the ol' days would be a bonus.

I take it Japanese gun laws are as lax (comparatively) as ever?

Not really, they're the most restrictive in the world. They just don't have dumb kids who would point toy guns at cops.

Helps that they're on an island and really the only way for a person to get a gun is to smuggle it into the country so the chances of a kid having a real gun without being a son of a Yakuza boss, is practically zero.
