Obviously, anything with the military in it, which the military is going to approve, is going to make the military look good, exciting, interesting, and noble.

That being said, while I would agree that the movie and its special features are very pro-military, I would not go so far as to say that the movie is pro-war in an overtly political sense.

Besides the obvious fact that all the bad guys are essentially military hardware, the movie seems to support the troops but lampoon and criticize the US Intelligence Service and politicians who have put real America's troops in harms way.

Sector Seven, which can be compared to the CIA and FBI, is a deceptive, short-sighted, bloated, bumbling intelligence operation putting soldiers at risk. The president, briefly seen in Transformers is also an obviously negative caricature of President Bush. The troops, on the other hand, are depicted as everyday people simply trying to make the best out of a bad situation. As the Secretary of Defense says in the movie, "Losing is really not an option for these guys." And, as Captain Lennox says, "We didn't ask to be here."

The Air Force has participated in a battle between transforming space robot factions and they have also discovered and utilized a Stargate in which they have many adventures on other planets. That isn't propoganda, that's just another day at the office for the US military and you'd be a fool to not sign up.

Yeah. I mean, the Goa'uld and the Decepticons could pop up at any time.

There's nothing wrong the the military. We need the armed forces in order to defend ourselves and maintain our sovereignty as a nation among other nations.

And there is nothing wrong with serving in the military either, provided that one is doing so with the right motives in mind.

It's how the military is used that is sometimes questionable. The men and women of the armed forces are there to act out policy. But policy itself is something that is determined by the elected officials and in the end, by we the people.

What I'm trying to say is, it's entirely possible to appreciate and support the people of the armed forces, but not to support what they are being directed to do in needless, wasteful wars. They didn't ask to be used and abused like this. When they signed up it was in full faith that their years of volunteer service would be used wisely. And I hate to say this, but for the most part we've been letting them down the past several years.

They deserve better.

Having come off Motorbikes onto my back on asphalt, I can tell you it aint!

The Extras were on the Propaganda side of things, but that was Bay's influence. We really needed more technical and pre-production stuff, the detail and quality of extras the LotR 4 disc sets are what every heavy CGI based film should strive to achieve.
