ugh ... those ankles just gave me flashbacks to Legends Ginrai.
And I hate those **** ankles.

Try e-bay. Theres a version of the MP-10 mold with or without the trailer for every budget out there. Dont compare this thing to an MP figure just because it takes certain cues. Its like comparing apples and oranges.Rated X wrote:I only got one which is the latest TRU reissue. I was under the assumption that all the Takara and Hasbro reissues plus the YOTH MP-10 saturated the market and brought the price down. And thats not counting the very affordable KOs. I never looked at the prices on ebay. But its not a rare mold to own like calling the POTP prime a "stand in" sort of implies.
I have no idea where you are getting that assumption from about saturated market. Despite constant releases, the price has only gone up. I don't know why you think MP-10 is 'for every budget'. The cheapest official MP-10 I can find is $100. Not everyone can afford that for a single figure. And the KO is $50, which some people don't want. Sure PotP will also be $50, but that can be bought on sale if a person waits.

What did you do to the REal Rated X?

Where im getting my assumption on the saturated market is the constant re-release of MP-10 in all kind of decos from Hasbro and Takara. It is by no means a rare mold that is impossible to own. And the thing people dont seem to get about e-bay is sellers can "ask" whatever crazy price they want, but that doesnt mean they are getting that price. So on e-bay it sits gathering dust till one smart seller lowballs the others and gets some sales. You said it yourself, you found MP-10 for 100 bucks. People hate when I say this, but any adult who can afford to spend $50 on a toy most likely can afford to spend $100. Im not talking about a parent on a budget buying a toy for his kid. Im talking about a grown ass man who jumps in his own vehicle and drives to TRU to buy a $50 toy. He can afford $100 because if he cant WTF is he doing blowing $50 on toys? (Thats my take on it) Granted this site does have posters who are under the age of 18 and might only get figures as gifts or from saving allowance money. Im not denying that. But Im fairly confident a majority of the people who post here are grown men. Especially when it comes to any transformers toys that homage G1 characters from the 80s. And im also fairly confident that those people who made the "stand in for MP-10" comment were grown men. And im not trying to disrespect them either. I just find it very annoying when adults who spend $50 or more on a toy start talking about budget. Especially when it comes to the MP line which are considered high end collectibles even if TRU chooses to sell them. You dont find MP figures in Walmart or Target. The MP line is a pay to play hobby. Its your collection and you can collect whatever you want. But if you start mixing and matching MP figures with leader class figures sooner or later somebodys eyes are gonna roll...
Just because one can spend $100 on a toy doesn't mean one wants to. I have MP-10, it's great, I love it to bits - but it seems a lot of the excitement about this Leader Optimus is due to the fact that it looks like it'll be really good for the price. Don't think about it like whether people want to spend $50 or $100 on a toy; think about it like if people want to spend $100, would they rather get one great toy or a really good toy and also 3 or 4 other quite-good toys? I know which one I'd choose much of the time.skywarp-2 wrote:I have to also point out. Say I have a disposable budget of say 200.00. I see a bot I like for 50.00. I need three other bots, but pass on one because overall, it's 200. So I go for a different character or bot, or line to update my collection. sometimes it's a "I want to get the most bots for the money I have" sort of thing..

Power of the Primes Leader Optimus Prime looks great, even compared to MP-10. He'll be a worthy compliment to Combiner Wars/Legends Leader Megtron. The ONLY gripe I have with this PotP version is the gray hands. For something that's supposed to be G1AF, that's a big mistake. I'm sure Takara Tomy will get that right, at least.
well.....you could always paint it yourself and not pay takara's extra 20 or more bucks.....

I have no idea. I'm not a toy designer.
I wasn't aware I had to be a toy designer to express my dislike of a design aspect. I guess being a fan just isn't enough these days is it?-Kanrabat- wrote:Even if the vehicle mode look a bit iffy and Orion Pax have that MASSIVE backpack, I WILL buy that Optimus for sure. Same. I mean lets face it, up until now, Orion Pax has never had a unique mold of his own, he's always been a repaint of someone else.

Right now I've got TR Megatron, MP Road Rage, A Sky Reign (with Offroad, Alpha Bravo, Prowl and Mirage as limbs) and a Zesk from Bionicle sitting up on my desk. I kinda tend to not care what somebody else thinks of my personal collection

eh, I stand corrected.
Though in my defence, I don't think he was released out here.
Plus PotP Orion Pax looks better.

As it should be! All of those are fantastically fun figures.
...except Zesk. My love for Bionicle is strong, but I never got on board with the soft-reboot around the gladiator-esque series. Honestly I think it was the fist-shaped hands that bothered me more than anything. Still, to each their own and all that
On the point of budgets though, I firmly disagree with the idea that "if you have 50, you have 100". Im a student so on a perputally less-than-great budget, but that doesn't mean I have to go without the things I enjoy. It's less about whether I have the money and more about whether I can comfortably part with the money. Like, yes I have some cash, but I'd rather hold on to most of it and not risk putting myself in a riskier financial situation. If my toy budget for a month was 50 bucks, doubling it would be pretty significant!
...that's all kinds irrelevant though as whilst potp does look great compared to the mp, it just doesn't quite stand up enough in my eyes (as an MP-alike, he's sensational in his own right in terms of looks and play pattern!). I think if the grey "frame" that the chest windows slide into in robot mode were red so as not to stand out as much, that might change my mind

william-james88 wrote:Kurona wrote:I'm not sure how rarity comes into it?
It has nothing to do with it. The toys are at different price points entirely. Nomatter how common a toyota corrola might be, it will always cost more than a 50$ leader class TF toy. Same with MP10, its just a higher end toy, and shouldnt really be compared when it comes to price.
Also, if people truly had strict MP collections and didnt mix and match anything that wasnt a Has tak MP, then the 3p market wouldnt exist.

I mean I'm no toy designer but there must be some other way to do the ankles other than 3 pieces of flimsy plastic that don't connect or secure to anything. While the design of the feet is not completely terrible the execution is sorely lacking.
