I think what people are failing to see is the pretender shell homage in Starscream's design.

- useless gimmick : Titan masters had a role : heads. Not things to store uselessly in a torso like here.

Y'know, I kind of agree? It's like: "Hey, guys, there hasn't been a convention in months, so we've got a lot to reveal! No, just kidding, here's 9 figures that don't look great with a new gimmick thats not nearly what it was cracked up to be."
Like, not to have a negative outlook or anything, but man is this a let-down. I remember last SDCC being amazing, with huge reveals and lots of them, but this year, it's really just meh at best. Beachcomber is great, but that's about all that does it for me, which is pretty sad.

Maybe it's all a conspiracy to sell more Hascon tickets. "Disappointed? Come to OUR convention to see the cool stuff."

AH! This is what Starscream reminds me of! These old Playskool star wars figures I had when I was younger. Huge feet and hands, just awful proportions.

Seriously, starting a new line with 4 years old repaints.. they learned nothing from G2 ?

...I'm not judging this line yet. I mean, hell, even Starscream is growing on me. Stuff looks a lot better in-hand in more natural and organic poses...and let's face it, conventions and renders can give us some pretty bad poses. But so far, I like what I see. I don't care about Roddy's backpack either, because I don't display my figures facing the wall.

And Starscream seems to me has some other feature in that bulky exterior we have not been told about. There's got to be a reason for that.

Not really the Pretender shell has slim arms with spiked knuckles - and is also green.

This one has some slight similarities with the wing shape and the way the crotch and chest window goes - but in general it's more IDW Starscream than it is Pretender Starscream (either part) I can't really see anything from the Actionmaster either.

If I was to be a loathsome person i'd say it's more of the same only smaller same old design flaws in a smaller package and with boxing gloves and power pack boots on.

I don't totally hate it - I'm just puzzled by it - perhaps it was designed by the same person who did a similar thing to CW Prime.

He's a combiner wars torso. It's not even a secret. (it could have been if they didn't show these 30th repaint of aerialbot limbs).


And it'll probably transform the exact same way as Silverbolt, I hope you weren't tired of the 28 already existing remolds of this torso.

The problem with Hot Rod combining with a trailer to become Rodimus Prime is he still looks like Hot Rod but with a big useless backpack.

I still see some unused hinges on the backpack. I have some (extremely small) hope that it can become some sort of base mode when disconnected from the deluxe bot.

Should we start speculating on which Prime will get which dude to "carry their Sparks"? Or is that just as stupid as it sounds aloud?

Personally I think dismissing Darkwing and Dreadwind as Aerialbot repaints prevents you from seeing the positives they do have and realising they do actually look like decent figures, but hey, I guess positivity just isn't fashionable these days.

But for a new line launch, you can't repaint 4 years old molds. It's giving a terrible message.

It's G2 launch.

But then it's just Hot Rod with a trailer base. ugh ... this gets worse and worse!

I appreciate the extra hinges they put on Dreadwing so his front wings can hings back to merge better with the rear ones (not done in the images seen so far).

I wonder what is anything Rodimus' Trailer actually does - if it turns into a base that would be something - I don't expect much from it though.

I for one think the line and premise looks great. You can't please everyone all of the time. The gimmick seems like the natural evolution of the last two, especially considering that there seem to be some "secret combiners" in the mix. The prime masters will look great in overlord as well.
