Does everyone kept waiting for Apeface and Snapdragon as of now?
Still Playing Fall Of Cybertron, it's still a great sequel!

Now if we could just get their nemesis, the Horrorcons!
Unicron was born down the street from me. No joke.

It sucks, though, that Repugnus is being religated to an exclusive like this. I doubt they would do this with a new mold, so he's probably a retool of someone existing. A Terrorcon, perhaps? Which will make it a bit odd. Two Monsterbots will be Headmasters, and the third a random combiner limb? As long as he works well as an individual toy and looks good with the other Monsterbots, not the end of the world. It will just be weird.
But, in the end... Deluxe Repugnus? Yay.
It'll probably be Rippersnapper. All they would really have to do is change the head.
Given that they're so dedicated to the 1987 line, I'm hoping another Punch/Counterpunch is coming down the line. I missed the first Botcon one and the new one is just the Decepticon side which really doesn't work for me.
I think Blot would be a better mold for Repugnus.

Hoped for them to be the Titans Return wave 06 Voyagers...
I guess we won't get them or as some kind of exclusive. Either in two different box sets like Twinbots or like Arcee, Grotusque, Blast Off and Repugnus.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

The sheer timing of the release of a deluxe version of Repugnus leads me to believe he'll be a retool of one of the Terrorcons (probably, but not necessarily, Rippersnapper). Hasbro usually has these things road mapped out a few years in advance. I'm betting we didn't get Repugnus back in Titans Return because the plan was to make him a retool of Rippersnapper later down the line, likely because it was deemed either easier to do or just "looked" better/cooler to Hasbro. They wouldn't want to release him along side Doublecross as he wouldn't have a Titan Master compatible head mount, ruining the "cross-play" pattern with other contemporary deluxe class figures, and they wouldn't release him as a special edition along side Grotusque with the "normal" use of the mold not due out until next year. Putting a Rippersnapper retooled Repugnus out for May Mayhem makes perfect sense, as the regular Rippersnapper mold, due out in Wave 2 of Power of the Primes, should be hitting saturation on store shelves around then (i.e., May 2018). Finally, going back to the "cross-play" pattern, it just works out so much better that two special edition deluxe combiner limbs would come out during a time when the Generations toy line is again making all deluxe class figures "Scramble City" compatible. 'Till all are one (gimmick)!

As a Legends EX release, possibly.
Exactly. As long as Takara Tomy Mall keeps doing unexpected repaints there's a chance. And really, this is the only release that makes sense as being different from Hasbro's. What could they do with the Dinobots other than maybe make the clear parts darker and giving Slag a red head? Otherwise Hasbro has been going the cartoon rout this time around leaving not much for TT to do different.
Emerje
Hasbro's paint jobs for their Legends and Deluxe class assortments so far have been fantastic. Jazz is a stand out, for sure. So much of the top of his alt mode is painted clear plastic. Dreadwind too has lots of great paint apps that really highlight just how much retooling was done to create him from the Skydive mold. Beachcomber actually does have painted rims, so fancy that!
We know that Hasbro won't shy away from premium decos either for special releases, like the Titans Return box sets and Arcee and Grotosque exclusives. The weak point right now seems to be the bigger size classes (Voyager and Leader) leaning on those damned stickers. Honestly, I would rather have a price hike on those figures if it meant paint instead of stickers.

Factory-applied cheap stickers are my least favorite form of deco. Sadly, it only ranks slightly behind self-applied good stickers for me.

Terrorcons, Horrorcons -- what about the Seacons?! I'd love a Tentakil update.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were an exclusive boxset later on....
The more time I spend with Rodimus, the more I like him (and I already liked him!). He's a lot more complex to evolve and transform than Optimus, and that adds to the fun -- but Optimus's simplicity is also appreciated, especially for younger fans.

Video Review of Transformers: Power of the Primes Tailgate
- Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
There's been a lot of buzz about the upcoming Transformers: Power of the Prime Battletrap figure - made up of Legend class Battleslash and Roadtrap - as we first reported on their video review here. Part of the same wave of Legend figures, though, is also a repaint with new head of the Windcharger figure from wave 1, which was reviewed in pictures for us back here.
Check it out, and let us know what you think of this second use of the mold. Do you prefer this version over the first? Would you prefer a more IDW styled toy? Is this an upgrade compared to the previous Generations toy in Combiner Wars? Join in the discussion down in the Energon Pub!

doesn't screw up totally. bodrock wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if they were an exclusive boxset later on....
That's pretty likely if they make them at all.
Snap Trap - Sky Lynx retool
Overbite - Rippersnapper recolor
Tentakil - Blot retool
Nautilator - Sinnertwin retool
Skalor - Rippersnapper retool
Seawing - Cutthroat retool or more just using the transformation scheme and assembling the beast mode backwards

Not for PotP, but I suppose it would not be impossible for them to be released as figures in a later Generations line. Either with or without their Headmaster gimmick intact, in the former's case they would simply have compatible engineering with previous Titan Masters.
I'll repeat myself but it still bugs me that in a line with mandatory headmaster and triple-changers at a Voyager class we never got Horrorcons. Hasbro was smoking some weird **** when they decided to skip these guys.

There's a possibility to get them in PotP. They could treat them like Sky Lynx.Skritz wrote:Not for PotP, but I suppose it would not be impossible for them to be released as figures in a later Generations line. PotP alt mode = G1 vehicle mode
PotP robot mode = G1 beast mode
PotP combiner mode= G1 robot mode
Or they swap robot and beast mode which would be pretty cool. Just imagine a combiner gorilla and a combiner dragon.

Yeah, I read the same thing on TFWiki. Strangely both times they called Blot a heavy retool of Rippersnapper even though they would have been designed at the same time so who can really say which was made first? And that's really all I see, the entire upper legs from the knees to the hips, the combiner peg, and the peg cover. Seems more like a case of parts sharing than anything like retooling.

TF Wiki seems to have very idiosyncratic ideas about retool terminology. Guessing maybe it’s Walky’s preferences manifesting?
For example, there are cases of pretooling or shared tooling but they always treat the first released figure as the “original”. Even if it isn’t the first DISPLAYED figure or is obviously a redeco of a later figure obviously designed first.

I.e. the upper legs. With the Combiner Peg that's all they share. Ugh, I'll put them together anyway as part sharers, it's possible they share some we don't immediately see like the joints.
The term is a mess anyway, no need for discussion about it in this thread and derail it once again.
Back to Tailgate, he looks decent. Good call on retooling the chest as well as the head.

I hated that damn IDW tailgate. I was also upset that we never got one from the scout class Windcharger mold. So its great Tailgate finally gets some justice. Now all we need is a proper Huffer/Pipes original mold instead of a crappy prime repaint.

Ah yes, because whenever I think of memorable characters from the cartoon, I think of Tailgate! Oh old Tailgate, with his iconic scene where he appears, gets stood on by Trypticon and never does anything again!

I really like this Tailgate. I have a recent third party version, but I just received a G1 Tailgate for Christmas, one of the last inexpensive figures from the first three years I was missing. Anyway, I think this is a nice addition to the line and is better than the Combiner Wars version. Just my take.
