I love Sideswipes design all around. Now mind you there are problems, but my clash one actually has fully functional shoulders, so It's not too big a deal.

Drift is the winner of the line and is incredible.

optimus with the trailer is very good too.

Legion Fixit is also a winner. So simple yet accurate and extremely posable (he has like 3 different torso articulation bits). :BOT:

Good points - Yeah I can't think of another car of the top of my head that implements the torso & arms like Jazz does - I do wish the chest could compact a little like 2007 Barricade does though.

I forgot about the way Drifts details implement - yes that is quite clever too. I would imagine that would look good on the posh white repaint Takara is doing.

I think I heard someone saying there was something liked about one of the Legions too possibly Sideswipe?.

Legion Sideswipe is cool, but Fixit is the best. :BOT:

To RAR's question.

I find joy in the simple things. Everybody loves some ankle tilt, right? So do I, but not at the expense of back and forth movement of the foot (rotation on the X axis, or the more predominant articulation of our own feet).
All the RID warriors have this articulation, minus Prime and Steeljaw. I know it's nothing fancy, but it is a simple bit of articulation that can make or break a figure for me, and seems to be utilized less and less these days across the board. For some of these Warriors it is mostly for transformation (Drift and Bee), but HEY, it works. I've always relied on this articulation to get most figures in some of my favorite poses.
 So by no means a break through in engineering or really remarkable for that matter, but in my book, a necessity.

Maybe I was spoiled by Beast Wars where 85% of the toys had ball jointed ankles for a complete and natural rang of motion. Bring back the ball joint ankle, I say!

Remember when we were talking about reusing character models which depict transformers in their earth modes before they could possibly scan them?

So like... what DID these guys turn into on Cybertron?

Yup, it's expensive to create and animate 3d models, especially when you're only going to use them for one episode; add to that, that the pre-earth forms aren't/weren't specified at the time/ever, and you have a prickly situation - better, then, to just use the earthen modes and hope no one asks >:oP

Aye it's weird....coz even before they scanned...you can clearly see their earth vehicle parts in robot mode. it's the same with the recent RID series....the only difference in cybertronian form was Bumblebee had his hover ability & a few slight aesthetic changes, but mostly looked similar to his earth vehicle form. Same with Strongarm! while Fracture looked completely different in cybertronian & earth mode.

Speaking of cybertronian forms....I'm still quite miffed that we never got a cybertronian form Transformers Animated Black Out toy.

Yeah, same with oilslick, whos toy had an earth mode while he had a cybertronian one on the show

Although he was initially supposed to be a toy only figure, so I am glad he at least made it in there. God thing rodimus was both cybertronian in the cartoon and toy.

the only ones that didn't need to scan an earth mode were The Dinobots(depending on what you go by....the G1 show had them BUILT to resemble dinosaurs....but in the comics..i think that probe thing scanned dinosaurs & they were automatically built! unless Ratchet had a hand in it). Metroplex, Trypticon, Fortress Maximus, Omega Supreme & Scorponok(Headmaster not Bayformer)...probably coz nothing on earth came close to looking like their alt forms. as for cybertronian forms....in the live action movies...only Megatron(cybertronian Jet & Tank) had one(although he kept a cybertronian jet form for TF Prime), although not sure if Soundwave's satellite alt mode was his cybertronian form or not? none of the others we saw in their cybertronian forms....just their protoform. ok...not quite true...shockwave's toy's a cybertronian tank! but that alt form didn't appear in the movie. the Dinobots are a strange one! coz I dunno if those were cybertronian form dinos in AOE or not? they looked kinda weird. + they already were on Lockdowns ship, so we don't know how they came about getting their alt forms, that wasn't explained in the film.

Yeah, he movie dinobots were from an older era, so in a shoddy writing style (big surprise) it would seem that them looking like earth dinosaurs is a total coincidence.

The G1 characters having cybertronian vs earth forms is actually not clear. Look at Cosmos for instance, that clearly isnt an earth form. What the hell did he scan?

Also, all the alt modes in season 3 of G1 (starting with the movie) can either be cybertronian or scanned from the future earth they were on. Here is what sabreblade told me once:

I guess the real determining factor of distinction would be if we ever saw a TF scan a new form on Earth in a year that took place in the future. But I can't recall off hand having ever seen such a specific case happen.

However, for a lot of cases, it's tough to really tell which "futuristic" forms are purely Cybertronian and which aren't, since a lot of times we really don't know or see if the characters with said altmodes either already had them on Cybertron before their coming to Earth or if they got them on Earth in a future setting.

The 1986 movie cast are really guilty of this since we never saw them come to Earth or saw how they got their altmodes. For all we know they either already had them on Cybertron or got them from the Earth of the future. We just don't know. We know their altmodes are "futuristic", but we don't know if they're purely Cybertronian or not, within the confines of the movie's narrative, that is.

And Takara gave us a pretty big clue actually. It is written on the box that she turns into a Cybertronian cruiser. Meaning that the alt mode we see her transform to in the movie is NOT from earth but from Cybertron. So she never got a new alt mode when arriving to earth. If its true for her, it may be true for Kup, Blur, Rodimus and the other new cast members.

By now, almost every toy predicted in the Robots in Disguise App has been revealed aside from 2:

Stomp n’ Chomp Grimlock
Warrior Megatronus

And now, thanks to a post on Weibo, we finally have images for one of those: Stomp n’ Chomp Grimlock.

Surprising no one, this is simply a straight up repaint of Age of Extinction Stomp n’ Chomp Grimlock sporting the colours of Robots In Disguise 2015 Grimlock. Even the robot head still uses the Age of Extinction headsculpt as can be seen in the images below.

Huh. Didn't expect an on-screen Movieverse character to get recycled in a non-Movie line.

That giant AOE Grimlock sold for 100$ originally. It began to move a little when it was 80$. They only got rid of them when he was on clearance. And now, it shelfwarm at Winners at 50$.

This time, the optimus accessory have been removed. It look nothing like the show. The killer question is, for how much will it go for? Because it clearly don't have the collector market in mind and mommy usually wont buy a toy that is worth 100$ or even 80$ to little timmy.

Bad planning, Hasbro. Bad planning. #-o

RiD Stomp N Chomp repaint revealed? I actually saw this 2 weeks ago at the local TRU. Was it put on the shelf by mistake? Some kid was looking at it and oooh-ing and aaaah-ing, begging his mom to pick it up. The mom said 'You already have this one!' and the kid said, 'But this is Robots in Disguise!' The mom tried several times to point out that the kid didn't need this one because he had the movie version, and every time the kid said, 'But this one is Robots in Disguise!' As if that somehow 'won' the argument.

It was probably a mistake because no one has posted it yet, anywhere online. If you see it again, send us a picture (the link is in my sig) and you will get a news credit :)

I'll try to make a run out today and see if it's still there. It might have sold (but this is TRU of shelfwarming fame), or they might have recognized the error and pulled it. In the which case I will have no proof of what I saw... ;)

This statement is funny because it really kind of puts collecting into perspective. Do I need every Bluestreak I can find? Fact: No. Do I want every Bluestreak I can find? Emotional Response: YYYYEEEESSS!
Children exemplify this idea. I wonder at what age logic really kicks in? :-?

The first S&C Grim Must have sold well, or else this decision would be completely illogical on Hasbro's part.

Well, it IS the whole basis for much of the comedic dialogue on any Star Trek show ;) I have noted that much of the trolling that takes place on the internet is because of that very issue. Whenever people start losing on the basis of facts, they retreat into the comfort of emotional rhetoric, and thus, nothing gets resolved because in the minds of the emotional, their feelings counter any and all evidence to the contrary...

Well there was very little development costs for this particular release. I have a feeling this doesnt need to sell all that well for Hasbro to make good money off of it. This really feels like a decision based entirely from the business side of things since it lacks any creativity.

Weapon: Saber Blade
so thats what hasbros doing with all the left over stock, pretending its something new & hoping itll actually sell this time. The AoE one is still warming shelves what makes them think this wont join its brother for the long haul? If it was a brand new mold or even a remolded AoE one i could understand but a straight up repaint, yeah good luck with that especially since it doesnt even come with a figure to activate the gimmicks.
