AP CHICAGO - Shia LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing after the "Transformers" star refused to leave a Chicago drug store, police said Sunday.

A security guard told LaBeouf that he needed to leave the Walgreens store because he appeared to be drunk, police said.

When LaBeouf, 21, refused to leave, the security guard detained him and called police at about 2:30 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak.

After he was arrested, police noted that LaBeouf was "very courteous and polite," Kubiak said. Police said he posted bond before 7 a.m., but Kubiak did not know the amount.

LaBeouf, of Glendale, Calif., is scheduled to appear in Cook County court on Nov. 28.

Police did not administer a sobriety test because LaBeouf was not driving a vehicle, Kubiak said.

Publicists for LaBeouf did not immediately return calls for comment.

The actor is set to co-star with Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," due in theatres next year.

Technically, it doesn't say he was drunk. They didn't test him cause' he wasn't driving, and even said "he acted politely."

Jeez thats a bit tough.

If you were arrested in Australia for entering a store "a bit drunk" half the population would be in jail...

Maybe he wasn't drunk, maybe he was on some "Mojo".

Also, I think it's retarded and ironic that he wouldn't leave so the Walgreen's Security Guard detained him until polive arrived. Awesome punishment!

He posted bond that morning, is is schedule to appear in court later. In other words, he's out.

It's a misdemeanor, not a felony. He didn't go to prison. He was arrested for public drunkeness. He spent the night in the drunk tank with a bunch of winos. That's it.

Classic and LOL! I can imagine Shia going postal on someone 10 times bigger than him. He really should put on some muscle weight for future roles and in case he does get into more serious trouble so he can at least defend himself.

All joking aside...

What is it with today's celebrities? Seriously, can't they stay out of the tabloid for ten seconds?

Yes, I read the entire story. Yes, I realize it was a misdemeanor and basically stupid stuff.

I get all of that, and I'm not trying to pick on him specifically, but I guess I'm using him as an example.

...he's not even to the fourth minute of his fifteen minutes of fame and arrested? Regardless of how it went down...do these stars just *have* to get in trouble?

"Oh wow. I just got a contract to act in a big movie, I've got a bunch of dough in my account now, let's go ahead and..."

Can anyone just do something right in Hollywood? No, apparently.

You either have to be in tabloids, be a (insert religion of your choice), or come out of the closet just to make a mark in Hollywood anymore. Whatever happened to just doing a terrific job showing off your talents and bringing home Oscars?

When did it become a prerequisite to be a drunk or a wifebeater? An actor like Ian McKellan comes out because that's who he is, not to promote his name. Or choose a religion when they actually have nothing to do with it or follow it.

Yet every new face has to just cash in on it.

"Welcome To Hollywood, Please Choose The Path You Wish To Take For Instant Stardom."

-_- No wonder crap comes out of Hollywood anymore.

Similar problems exist for sports players. Too much money too quick. They need to be counselled on how to best deal with their new found wealth and fame. Without proper guidance some people more easily fall off the right path. There are exceptions to this rule though as with anything in life really.

To be fair, tabloids try to dig up dirt on anybody whether it's true or not. It's the average joe that keeps tabloid journalists in business. I don't watch TMZ, Extra, Access Hollywood, or E! because I could give a crap what someone is doing when they aren't making movies. Celebrities are a bigger target and under a lot more scrutiny for things that regular people do. These people aren't my heros, I don't care if they were suspected of being drunk in public, especially when there are a lot more impotant and news worthy issues out there.
