A half-baked crossover?

Only way I see this being justified.
It does concern me thouugh, they are deliberately avoiding several live action guys and I am becoming increasingly worried I may not see them in a longer time yet, if at all

I mean, if you want to get real pedantic here, games are made by studios. It's called High Moon Studios after all.
Man, just imagine all the generic Seeker and Battlecharger repaints they could do if they started doing Devastation repaints.

With that logic, we could even extend it to TV series, too, as those are also made by studios. Hasbro's production company Allspark was even originally named Hasbro Studios, and one subsidiary is named Boulder Media Studio. Lots more studios to pick from as well.Emerje wrote:I mean, if you want to get real pedantic here, games are made by studios. It's called High Moon Studios after all.

Maybe Studio Series is evolving the same way the Masters of the Universe Masterverse is. It started as a line for the Revalations series, now it has incorporated the CGI series, the original series (for the 40th anniversary) and even figures based on tweaked concept art.
I'm not against a catch all Generations Transformers line that's outside the current themed main line. They're quickly hitting the wall for movie figures they haven't already made (sometimes multiple times) so letting it evolve isn't such a bad idea.

Except, Legacy is pretty much a catch all Generations Transformers line too, picking from all over the brand's history and media for whatever toys it wants to include. Studio Series going to same route would make the two line pretty indistinguishable from each other beyond one still making some toys based on the live action movies and one that doesn't, at which point they might as well just be the same line.Emerje wrote:Sabrblade wrote:With that logic, we could even extend it to TV series, too, as those are also made by studios. You're thinking short term, I'm thinking long term. That's what Legacy is right now (if you pretend Prime Universe isn't in it), in 2024 the line that takes that slot could literally be anything. Besides, Kingdom and SS86 were nearly indistinguishable from each other, we have the Jazz and Cliffjumper repaints and retools to prove it, and they coexisted.

You really made me hunt for this reply...

Not sure what you mean by the Netflix line since that line barely incorporated anyone that wasn't G1 (Beast Wars is arguably still G1). The Volocitron line is considered an offshoot of Legacy rather than its own thing.

Metroplex... simply isn't Metroplex, is a different character. I still ask myself why, when figures get bigger, alt modes look weird and lame.
Thundercracker is great.
Seems like you've never seen the pictures of Cybertron Metroplex's alt mode, as it is a very real thing (it's also gigantic) also if the name bothers you, just call him by his Japanese Galaxy Force name
All movie designs are ugly
Metroplex is cool I guess...
I beleive his Japanese name is Megalo Convoy (Megalo Convoy for me, I guess)
Hilariously, his Korean name is "Super Metroplex"

I had tickets to the rerelease of the 2007 movie today (which I was super excited about because I never actually got to see it's original run in theaters), but my family got COVID so I'm in quarantine for a while. Instead, here's my 2007 Studio Series Autobot cast!

Oh man, that's such bad luck. I hope your family gets better soon and that you can finish isolation in time to see the re-release.
Your custom paintjobs look stunning, as usual. They'd look awesome displayed in front of a background that evokes the alleyway where they first meet Sam!

While I wouldn't go so far to say that, they are ugly/too busy aesthetically to me. I've always felt that they were overly designed. Now that said I can see the need for their Cybertronian forms to look very Alien to us, but once they came to Earth it would stand to reason that they would take on an Earthly design/look for both modes not just alt mode. JMO
Thus why I never bought into the Movie lines, one reason is that in bot mode a lot of them look very oddball or miss-shaped hunks of parts.

I found one lonely Bumblebee movie Wheeljack at my local bam the other day! He is really neat. The transformation is much more involved than you'd think, but in a good way. Getting him clicked into vehicle mode is satisfying and he passes the roll test! (That's a big part of my grade when reviewing a toy
)
He also pairs super well with a fellow Cybertrinian style figure Tetrajet Screamy Star.
Only thing I could nitpick on is his ankle tilt is depressingly poor and could use some paint on a few parts, but that's easy enough for me to do myself
Now I'm looking forward to picking up Ironhide and maybe Arcee and that'll probably be it for Bee movie cybertron modes for my shelf

Thank you very much! I think when I get Prime and Jazz all the way complete I'll have to try and do something like that background, that's a great idea!

Super bummer dude, sorry to hear that!
So I got Thundercracker and Galvatron this weekend and got to mess with them.
Thundercracker is really nice, and might be my favorite of the 3 versions of this mold so far. It's also kinda awesome that we now have 3 versions and none are straight repaints yet. And the mold is fun, if a bit ungainly at times. I prefer the gas mask head too, it is nice.
Sadly Galvatron is not very good. I was hoping in hand he would be better, but he actually feels worse. It is very obvious to me he was a figure that needed a leader budget and got stuck at a voyager. The paint work, while more extensive than his last attempt, being only half done actually makes him look worse. And the legs and square torso just don't look that good, he is too stocky compared to how he should look.
i applaud the attempt to integrate his transformation better, but in practice, he needed more engineering and more paint. He needed that leader budget. I hate to say it, but I think this is a SS release where the original release might actually still be the better figure.

I'm looking for parts, Help Me Out Please!

Bummer about Galvatron. My Galvy and TC shipped from Deep Discount, I'm a little concerned, but I've never handled the original truck so I wonder if my first impressions will be different.

I'm not a huge fan of Galvatron as a whole, nothing about his character really appeals to me the way the other four versions of Megatron do, he just feels like a footnote in the franchise. Sentinel Prime was a better villain. But now I have a couple KSI bots so not having some version of him has left a gap in my collection.

Whan I first saw this figure, I thought it was really bed, but I also thought "Well, maybe once I'll watch a video about it I'll change my opinion". I was right: now I think it's quite ugly.
