The original Voyager mold (which would be a Leader by today's standards, and scales well with SS Jetpower Optimus from what I've seen - I think I've mentioned this a few times now) already had those:

And the HFTD retool even has the staff and a removable face:

Honestly, if they could redeco that in screen-accurate colors (and maybe add a slide to the arm struts) I think he'd be good to go.

Pretty sure this is why we haven't had him yet.

The only reason I haven't been chomping at the bit for a new Fallen is because the fire orange accented one that was a Target exclusive I believe still makes a great Fallen, he only really needed the features the above mentioned blue one has.

But I am eager to see a new Fallen with the new amounts of intricate detail they have been putting into the SS figures. Grimlock, Lockdown, and Sentinel are both incredible examples of this.

The only leader sized figures left to do are the Fallen, Grindor, Demolishor, and maybe Scorn if HasTak decides the TLK mold/deco isn't good enough. Dragonstorm and Infernocus may fit the bill too, depending on how they're released, although I think the "army building" method of having a deluxe with all combine modes that someone on this board already mentioned may be more likely for Infernocus. Something similar may happen with Dragonstorm, as there's only 5 somewhat distinct models/decos for the knights.

So, given that the only entirely new mold among the most likely 4 candidates is the Fallen, I'd say we're definitely getting him if there's another year of Studio Series.

If we do get the Fallen, I hope he has a removable face like the retooled Blue Fallen shown above. I think it and the staff could easily fit the budget since he's basically a big dumb robot mode with an afterthought, 'pile of nothing' vehicle mode that may not even exist in-universe, being unique to his toys.

And damn, i totally see the Movie Alpha Trion look a helmet-less Fallen, now.

I am shocked that we have yet to get a Grindor. There have been some surprising not-repaints/retools that have happened.

I'm watching TLK right now, and watching it, the completed TLK crew in SS high on my list, probably behind only Dino and Que. Voyager Onslaught, deluxe Dreadbot, and a Mohawk that fits in as a legion sized figure, packaged with a larger figure. And of course my oft mentioned Infernocus, Leader or larger.

Grindor is presumably waiting in the queue like the Fallen is because of the deisre to put the Devastator Constructicons out first.

It's basically a "cold" color scheme to contrast the "smoldering fire" look of the screen colors.

Better that than give him an alt mode that messes up the bot mode considering it has no kibble or signs of an alt mode to begin with; I mean, would you want a set of jet wings hanging off him? I didn't hate his original alt mode and the extra plastic and parts allotted to the new voyagers and leaders could go a long way to making his ship mode more convincing

Sometimes kibble can be cool, if utilized properly. Examples: the "wings" on the G1 Dinobots; the top of the firetruck flaps on Sentinel Prime; to a lesser extent, the cannon on the back of G1 Scattorshot. If the kibble blends well, it's still kibble but it becomes USEFUL kibble.

Doesn't matter, the movie model - which they replicate in the toy - doesn't have any, the only exception that I can think of is ironhides fender

Maybe they don't want to make Grinder because he's way too much the same as Blackout in the movies.

So they likely intend for us to buy 2 Blackouts.

Considering we have gotten new head retools as repaints in leader class before, and considering they are making Leader class figures of absolute nobodies like Overload, I doubt they would really shy away from making Grindor.

Grindor had the same head as Blackout in the movie, though.

If anything, his altmode kibble is what should be retooled since he was a different model of helicopter in the movie than Blackout was.

I'd be interested in a Grindor if they tweaked the mold to be the CH-53 (and gave it some better hands). The one I saw in person had a fairly lighter gray on it, similar to the ROTF Voyager, so I'd be ok with that color scheme.

Yeah, the Super Stallion is a silvery gray compared to the Pave Low's dark gunmetal. Mind you, I don't know if they'll do much retooling of the kibble because of the lack of said retooling on the CGI robot model.. They might replace the Scorponok with a movie-accurate rotor weapon though. Or possibly the chest blaster.

The thing about Overload is that he's needed for Devastator. So I can understand him getting a toy ahead of Grindor.

I would say the odds are good that Grindor will be coming out down the road, probably accompanying either The Fallen or Demolishor.

I still don't think Grindor is high on the list for priorities for Studio Series, if anything I'd imagine him being one of the very last figures released, that or Hasbro just rereleases Blackout with Grindor labeled on the box.

He's the same color as Blackout and his robot mode kibble is the same, the only thing different between the two on screen are their sizes and the slightly different model of vehicle.

Of course Studio Series has taken liberties with things like Crankcase and KSI Sentry in regard to on-screen accuracy but Grindor in the films wasn't the same "white-ish grey" as his ROTF toys he was almost pretty much Blackout with a new name, I'm pretty sure some people to this day think he's Blackout just because ROTF did nothing to establish them as different characters.

Grindor may pose a bit of a design conundrum for all the reasons stated above, one could say he's ultimate double-edged sword of the line:

Straight redeco? Fans will complain about the colors being off or that he's a redeco
Slight retooling? Fans will complain he's not big enough or should have done more
Him being released? Fans will complain about him getting released before The Fallen

Also, hardly a peep about Jolt. Why is that? He appeared in the 2nd movie, you know? :-P

With Blitzwing and Overload finally on the way, Jolt is absolutely my most anticipated/most wanted Studio Series candidate, and I think the only Autobot left that I want outside of Dino and perhaps the obscure/undone ones from The Last Knight (Trench, Bulldog, etc). I just haven't been vocal about it as due to not posting as much as I would like to because I'm too busy getting the life sucked out of me by now-online junior-level engineering courses.

Weapon: Fusion Blaster Cannon
Dino and Jolt (in that order) are my two favorite Autobot designs in the franchise period not just the movies, I can't explain why Dino is so appealing to me as he is, I think his sleekness such as his head design, "curves" and arm blades are a part of it, Jolt is a really cool atypical car design and his electrical theme is also top notch, hands like his and Jazz's are what I love to see on the occasional Autobot.

Their characters or rather the idea of their characters are also faves of mine, Dino's cold and dismissive but ultimately heroic personalty and Jolt's rookie like greenness although sometimes on some viewings I pretend that Jolt actually became Que in DOTM due to similar colors, I just head canon on some viewings that he took on a new alternate mode and changed his head appearance because of his admiration of Earth culture, we don't hear Jolt's voice in ROTF so it works fine enough for me even if it's not the canon, it's not my overall choice of how I view Jolt just an occasional thought for marathons to tie up a loose end.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

That's a pretty good way to tue up loose ends. Whenever I think about Que and the whole "Wheeljack" thing, I tend to just pretend that Wheeljack isn't allowed within 5 states of Que due to them creating terrifying experimental technology that resulted in the Twins and Jolt being blasted to a different universe.
