But how much would they change? SS prides itself on being screen accurate, so were the Sweeps different than Scourge?ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:They might be thinking a redeco is a better way to get more sales from the mold than just repacking Scourge, given his shelfwarming during Titans Return.
Isn't that too far off the screen accuracy? I think if the deco got changed, it would be just darker or lighter blues.I would bet on them using this deco:
ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I don't think anyone's in the hole for buying multiple Scourges to be Sweeps, that's still valid. Especially since this is probably going to be a redeco and thus a bit less screen-accurate.
Wreck-Gar being a Voyager makes sense to me. There's parts count to think about with his G1 design, and it would put him at a good size compared to SIEGE Springer.Easier to afford for troop-building certainly, but it would have made Scourge come up short next to Galvatron as the Titans Return mold does, and making a separate Deluxe mold for the Sweeps wouldn't milk the Scourge mold further.Rodimus Prime wrote:If that green guy really is Thrust, he looks like a straight repaint of Blitzwing.
I wonder about the SS86 TF:TM Sweep. Didn't the Sweeps looks just like Scourge? Would this be some retool of Scourge then? Obviously it's meant to be a troop builder, so I'm not sure if Voyager class was smart. Deluxe would have been better.

And a new head with a face based on this:
Honestly though with Voyager-size (or larger) army-builder types, I think it would be good if HasTak made cheap model kit counterparts.
On the subject of figures we already know things about, I'm guessing that SS86 Blurr cannot use the prow of his car mode as a shield.
They don't seem to care as much with the mold-milk redecoes - just look at Shadow Raider. They also blew it super hard with Crankcase (redecoing him from Crowbar instead of Berserker). The fact that they're producing a "Sweep" release at all instead of just repacking Scourge says to me that accuracy is being suborned for maximizing profit.Rodimus Prime wrote:But how much would they change? Well, the whole point of HasTak even doing a separate Sweep release in the first place would be to try and squeeze more money out of the Scourge mold.Rodimus Prime wrote:As for the voyager/deluxe debate, you're probably right that it costs Hasbro less to just redeco the Scourge figure and get more out of the same mold, but I don't think it would sell as many units as a voyager at $30 as it would as a deluxe at $20. But maybe the price difference and the savings on not having to design a new mold would make up for it.

Blurr's prow is technically detachable, but it's not meant to come off and doesn't have any way to attach to his arm or be held.
Are you sure it was 4 Sweeps and not Scourge and 3 sweeps?Zelda wrote:I want Scourge and 4 Sweeps

That would be correct.

That guy looks like he has a couple of figures with painted silver non-factory.

Seconded. I want images of Slag already, and I want to know for certain if the other 3 dinobots will be leader class as well, I would imagine swoop can be a voyager

Amen to this.
Seriously.
I’m even wanting Swoop to be leader class. If not, he should be a really large Voyager...
In my mind (& memory), he’s not substantially smaller than the other 4. & if this means his Dino mode is slightly too big, so be it!!
I also don’t care if the other Dinobots end up being in a different line; as long as the quality is there, who cares if the SS86 name, packaging, etc. ends?
The more I’ve thought about this, the more I’ve realized how excited I am about this possibility finally becoming reality in the next couple years...
It’s just been way too long of a wait.
Yeah, all 5 may end up totaling $250, but if the others can deliver like this SS86 Grimlock, I’m all in.
