Y'all are right haha, although the cartoon is not the most reliable for scale it looks like Swoop is supposed to be leader class

That reminds me of seeing swoop on his back in Dino mode flapping his wings attempting to get up lol I don't remember if that was the movie or the cartoon. I dont care if they're in a different line either, exactly like you said its about the quality. Cyclonus and Scourge are in different lines and it makes no difference to me, they're both great.
I've never had all of the dinobots, mostly because there was never a set of them that was worth it. If the other 4 are like Grimlock though, I won't hesitate one bit.
If anything I'm still deciding whether or not I'll only get the other 4 or still get grimlock, since I already have the MP version and all the figures coming out are gonna do me some damage as it is
I think that happened in the movie...
I’d recommend you get SS86 Grimlock.
And if you can hold-out, maybe wait to open him until you have a couple of the others. Or at least Slag.
That way you can see how they’re going to look with your MP Grimlock.
But my gut says you may appreciate having all 5 in scale with each other.
And think about this; if you can wait and keep SS86 Grimlock sealed, then end up wanting to sell him,
I would feel very confident that someone would gladly take him off your hands for $50 or more, even over a year from now. And as the other 3 start being released (fingers crossed), that will make selling this new Grimlock even easier if that’s what you choose.

YESSSS!!!! Sure, lots of inconsistencies in the cartoon. But either way, Hastak should go all out for these 5.
I would be shocked if any ended up shelf-warming.

Sounds like a pretty solid idea!
I will say that as much as I love my MP Grimlock his loose hips and ridiculously tight knee ratchets can be annoying at times, along with his hands.
And I do like the Wheelie that comes with SS86 version, and that he has more options for adding weapons

I know it’s easy for me to say; I don’t have a MP Grimmy, & haven’t spent that money...
Maybe it’ll be a game time decision for you. If you see him in a store, you’ll know if you should get him by your excitement... & if that somehow ends up over-hyped, a return in simple enough.

Re: Transformers Studio Series Discussion
It might be a little while longer until we hear anything new for leader class or the dinobots. Studio Series traditionally only as 2 waves per year for leaders, whereas the deluxes and voyagers have 4 waves per year. The next wave looks like it is only B-127 and Dino for Deluxe and Bee Cybertronian Starscream repacked with SS86 Hot Rot for Voyagers.
However, the next bunch revealed or leaked should have deluxe through Leader and would generally be available around July, so I would expect some news to start trickling in around March/April. Also keep in mind, we kind of found out about Slag a bit early compared to when he is due for release. We basically found out about him and Grimlock at the same time, but they are about 6 months away from each other as far as being in stores. That makes the lack of news on him seem even more glaring.
Unfortunately that also means it will be a bit of a wait to get all the dinobots if Hasbro keeps only doing 1 leader every 6 months. Let's hope they get back to doubling up in the future.

They haven't actually done a full 4 Deluxe/Voyager waves since the initial year of Studio Series, every year after has only had 3 waves. What's weird though is that since then, we've been getting 3 waves of Deluxes with no less than 3 new figures per wave, 3 waves of Voyagers with exactly 2 new figures to a wave, and then 3 Leaders split between 2 waves, and this year seems to be messing with that pattern with the B-127/Dino wave to the point where I think we might have to get 4 waves again.TF-fan kev777 wrote:It might be a little while longer until we hear anything new for leader class or the dinobots. Leak-wise, we've seen listings for:
Deluxe Gnaw
Deluxe RotF Bee (the retail version of SS74)
Deluxe Jolt
Deluxe RotF Sideswipe
Another mystery Deluxe (speculated to be Sideways)
Voyager Wreck-Gar
Voyager Sweeps
Voyager BB Thrust
Leader Slag
Leader Grindor
That's enough figures that there's gonna need to be 4 waves again, right, since none of that is in the first 2? That's too many figures for one wave by one Deluxe and one Voyager. Also this would mean the typical 2-Leader wave will be the second Leader wave, not the first, assuming both Slag and Grindor still come out this year.

Just because we've only seen 2 deluxes out of the next wave so far doesn't mean they're the only ones. Earthrise fasttrack was previewed at the same time as er wave two, and was the only member of wave 3 we saw for several months until the rest were revealed later.

No, EntertainmentEarth's Wave case breakdown is what means they are the only ones. See for yourself.

Edit: Also, Fasttrack and Runamuk were both revealed with wave 2 and Trailbreaker and Sunstreaker were only delayed about 1 week. I know this because they were all available for pre-order during Target's BOGO 50% sale which only lasted a week.

Huh, didn't know we had case breakdown yet, cool. In my defense, every week of 2020 felt like it was a month apart from each other, and er wave 2/3 preorder season was 7-9 months ago. Information creep is one hell of a drug.

I'm right there with you, the only reason I knew that ER waves 2 and 3 were revealed that close together was because of the Target BOGO sale. If it was any other reveal, I wouldn't have had a clue myself.

I'm going to start this post off by saying, I will never not be annoyed by the decision to put the G1 bots in the SS line.
That being said, I have gotten both Jazz and Scourge, and I don't think I could really be any happier with both toys.
Jazz was first, found him in Walmart, and he is excellent. A really nice little package with a fun transformation. I love swapping him between modes and posing him. He's just fun!
scourge is equally fun. I don't really care for Scourge at all, but damn if this toy isn't fun. They nailed the dracula cape wings as far as I'm concerned, and I love the pink fingernails. They did him justice, I have no issue with selling off my TR Scourge for him.
I still wish these would have been in Kingdom instead of SS, but as toys, they are good.

Re: Transformers Studio Series Discussion
Glad to hear you came around on Jazz D-max, you hit it right on the head, he is a really fun deluxe. More fun than the PotP version that is going to be sold off soon.
For Scourge, another fun mold, but now I'm trying to figure out whether I want any sweeps or not. If I do, I may hunt up some TR versions being off loaded instead of paying $30 for the upcoming SS86 retool/redeco. If I don't, I sell of my TR version. Still undecided.

Greetings Seibertronians! Thanks to Takara Tomy's dedicated Transformers twitter account, we now have more pictures of the forthcoming Transformer Studio Series Dino, from Dark of the Moon, to share with you all!

The photographer shares in the accompanying tweet that they wanted to recreate a pose that Dino does in the movie (the machine translation says play instead). We also get a good close up look at his vehicle mode as well.
Will you be adding Dino to your movie collections?
Shout out in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Dino is (so far) my one ray of hope in this year for Studio Series collecting. With every picture and video we get of him he looks better and better. I have been waiting 10 years for this figure and it is gong to be a great day when I find him!
Now if only they would show off more Bayverse figures.
Side note: I believe this weekend was suppose to be a big toy fair (but covid canceled it). I wonder if there will be anything shown this weekend?

Yep, the Ferrari license is held by another company right now IIRC.
SS Dino's vehicle mode does seem to draw some influence from his generic car mode from the DOTM video game, though.

Re: Transformers Studio Series Discussion
Got Scourge and Hot Rod shipped to me today. And just - WOW. Both are their best selves. As a big fan of the animated movie I have all the different molds of these characters and these toys are their best representations by a wide margin.
The only regret I'd have is if they made a version of Hot Rod that's "premium" coloured or something.
I thought Legends Scourge would be the best he could get, but nope. No, this version is definitive. Now they can stop making him. I'll get the Sweep that comes out - very curious to find out how that's handled.
